I agree with @Mbowen. You shouldn't have too much trouble parting it out, but if you can wait, craigslist might be the best option to get the most out of it.

I mean... you can always try that. The only time I've ever seen Bios get in the way of the GPU is when the GPU is running a different kind of bios that the mobo can't use. I think the last pairing I saw was an OEM hp/Dell with an i7- 2600 and a GTX 780. Card couldn't even put out a signal. But in this case your card is new enough. 

You don't happen to have another computer or friend with a computer that could help you narrow down your issue to purely GPU do you?

I use Parsec to stream my PC to my mac, so it just opens up everything.

Weird thing here. For some reason it seems to attempt to either check or install a simple driver during the windows install and the hardware issue prevents that. As for the other PC, it may be using the default windows drivers. I find that often if the GPU has hardware issues, the drivers just *poof* disappear and the card then runs off the installed windows driver. If you want to check it, update the driver and see if the card freaks out. Should either black screen when booting or artifact heavily. Doing a safe boot to remove the drivers can pull that pc out of its GPU death throws.

Follow the steps in the first section Flash from MFlash.

Look at the requirements for flashing the bios on the MSI page. 

Then check the properties of the Flash drive. Should tell you the filesystem there. Sometimes it needs to be fat32 or NTFS. Though I've seen it swapped before.

While they do have the same socket name (LGA1151) the sockets pins do different things. So while the short answer is NO. It's not compatible, (look at a 6700k or 7700k *with bios upgrade). 

The technical answer is, you can mod the bios if you're a crazy bastard and make it work. But it's insane and the time it would take would be just worth buying a different compatible board. 

That will work just fine. Don't forget though that you need to set the speed to 2400 MHz manually in most cases. I believe H110 still has that ability. 

No problem! It's always good to know everything before spending lots of money. And yes, it would be an option in the bios. Look for an XMP option.

I'd assume I'd do this in the BIOS? I know a decent bit about computers but just need a little assurance before going ahead with a new brand of RAM.

So, I have a laser cutter that I can use to do this sort of thing. I know you said you use a mix of chemicals to do the etching, but do you have any suggestions for "off the shelf" etching solutions? I'm not really confident mixing that stuff myself. 
 

Armor Etch works well on tempered glass. Never used a laser cutter before.

Well, blacks a lot f time have to do with the compression rate of the program/device you're watching through. OLED has the best blacks all around but I don't thing they make anything less than 4k with OLED...

Quite a lot actually. I'm in IT and if you're on here I can assume you dabble a bit. Ever alt+ f4? Ever need to hard reload a page? Get into Bios? Also, you may still have function keys hidden under an alt FN. I've used an Planck keyboard before and they get a lot of use that way. FN + 1 = F1 etc.
