  1. I'm asking him, it's actually a good question because to me it's obvious that he shouldn't play / stream in 4k given his hardware and connexion, but he actually might - he is even less tech-savy than me - and it doesn't hurt to ask him. Thank you.
  2. Thank you very much. I guess he simply expects games to run more smoothly/with higher settings overall. That's how he feels, but I have only been able to watch him play live. I know he was around 40-50 FPS while streaming Apex on his device, but can't recall the settings, probably on High or Medium. Honestly I've been out of the PC gaming scene for so long I couldn't even tell what is or isn't normal. As for him... he just bought what someone told him to I think. Thank you in any case, I wanted someone to just watch this and spot any possible obvious mismatch, if you haven't, I'll simply upgrade his internet connexion soon to output better image quality, and as for he source of the gameplay, offer him to buy additional sticks of 8 Gb RAM of the same model. Thank you, again, very much.
  3. Thank you for your answer, and sorry, I know my English isn't great. What I mean is that this motherboard has 4 RAM slots, and that the two sticks he has are either on the 1 & 3 slot or 2 & 4, he hasn't specified. They aren't just right next to each other.
  4. Hello ! I have a request for a friend who is trying to find out if there is any bottleneck on his desktop PC. Thank you for taking a look I really appreciate it. Budget (including currency): 200 euros Country: France Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: New World, Apex, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, overall AAA games with "decent enough" settings : the content is meant to be streamed. Other details : I'm trying to help my friend, who isn't fluent in English, to find out what could be things that hinder his Gaming and Streaming build. I mostly act as a translator, to be honest. He already has decent framerates, but they are not perfect, and there are definitely stutters that seem to happen while streaming. Personally, I can't find anything wrong with the build, because I'm a noob. There may be compatibility issues or something. Any GPU upgrade is impossible since... well you know why. To be clear, it's alright. It's just that he wants to make sure he hasn't done any stupid mistake that can be easily fixed. The system is : MB : Gigabyte B550M AORUS ELITE CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Wraith Prism LED RGB (3.6GHz / 4.4 GHz) GPU : KFA2 GeForce RTX 2070 Super EX (1-Click OC) RAM : Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO Series 16 Go (2x 8 Go) DDR4 3600 MHz CL18 (The two sticks are not on adjacent slots) PSU : Thermaltake Smart RGB 700W Sorry for having written the "RGB" details and all, it's for reference. Good case, good coolers, Windows 10. Drivers updated. Can you think of any part of this build that doesn't make sense or is stupid ? If not, he will simply deal with what he has and change settings accordingly. I'll work out the bitrates and network stuff for the streaming part with him, it's more the build that I need help with. In any case, I thank you very, very much for having taken time to read this, whether you answer or not. Have an excellent day everyone!
  5. Hello! Just woke up, thank you two for the research you've done and the answers you've provided! 2 in 1 is not very important. To be clear, she would either watch videos, or browse and check e-mails and stuff, but not at the same time. If she had to look up something on google while watching video, she'd just grab her phone. So it does not need to be a 2 in 1. That's a good point though. I have always been afraid of second-hand laptops (a lot of things can go wrong that I can't fix myself in these small machines), however, for that price range and use case, you are most likely correct. Refurbished might be the way to go. I'm checking the references you gave me earlier. One of this model is 15,6 inches indeed, which is a bit too big for what I'm looking for, and the refurbished HP Chromebook seems to be closer to my budget and needs. However, it is in QWERTY (I need AZERTY). Though, it is a good lead and I'll keep searching similar laptops. I think you both gave me useful information to find something that's good in my location, and to have a grasp on the market's situation. Thanks a lot!
  6. Hello, I need your lights, to make a purchase on a market I know almost nothing about. Thanks in advance to anyone who will take the time to read my request! My girlfriend is looking for a laptop (13.5" to 14" display). It's only for media consumption (Netflix, YouTube other video websites. It needs to not be too loud, to have a decent (not incredible) display, and decent Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The lighter the device is, the better. No requirement on ports, brand, aesthetics, or anything else. It would only need to play videos nicely, browse a bit, etc. Chromebooks would be fine, even though Windows 10 would be preferable. I don't have any set budget; I guess it would have to be under 350 euros though. I have no idea if this is something that would be hard to find or not. If i'm asking for something that does not exist I apologize. Whether you have a suggestion, or not, I thank you for having taken the time to read this post!
  7. Thank you for your response! I've looked it up some hours ago again, and found that the Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 was a pretty decent deal, although it is at the high-end of my budget. However, I am going to explore the other options you have provided and see their availability in France. Thank you also for providing the minimum RAM amount needed. I was a bit confused, before looking at the market I assumed that 4GB was a standard for such large machines, because of the smartphone market, mistakenly. Thank you very much again
  8. Hello everyone, Once again I have to ask you for help on a matter that I am pretty unfamiliar with. Thanks to anyone who will take the time to read my request! I am looking for an Android tablet for a relative. Here are some requirements: Budget 200-300 euros max (preferably around 200), around 250 USD or 320 CAD Must browse fast Must be able to play light games (such as Clash of Clans) Must be 10 inches or more Must have a SIM slot to use 4G internet And here are some optional ones: USB-C charging 5 hours of battery usage I don't know anything about tablets. Normally I would probably have redirected someone like this person (who is not tech-savy) to an Ipad, but they don't want to get a new one (they are currently on a 8 years-old ipad 2 and hate the ecosystem). I also know that I don't want Huawei hardware, I really like the brand but with all the legal issues, it is not very future-proof. Thanks to anyone who would be able to provide a lead, a model name, or even a brand that is worth looking for. I can read the specs of a tablet, but I don't know anything about day-to-day use and actual user experience. Have a great day, Tol
  9. Thanks for the advice, I looked it up and I'm not very confident in doing it myself but it's nice to see that these solution exist
  10. Hello, I have purchased a new laptop. This is an Asus Vivobook with IPS 1920x1080 display. I have noticed that on black backgrounds I notice backlight bleed. I don't think my eyes can perceive it on any other color, for now I see it when powering it on, on the top black stripes in Netflix, for instance. One of these picture was taken at 100% brightness in the dark, and the other at 50%. I should add that the spot I'm talking about is at the top left. There is another small one at the bottom right but it is less noticeable. The other glowing parts are either IPS glow or bleeding that is not perceivable. I'd like to know what you'd do about it, the odds of getting a worse display, things like that. I don't have tons of experience with these displays. Thank you!
  11. I had no idea you could cancel a sell on eBay because I never use the bidding system. That's a neat idea, thank you.
  12. Well thank you very much all. I'll start at a high price, just because there aren't a lot of offers near where I live, and because it doesn't cost me anything, and I'm not in a hurry. If it doesn't work (and it will probably not work) i'll lower the price until it reaches 450 minimum and wont go any lower. Thanks!
  13. Thanks for your response. Yeah, so in France especially where I live (moderately rural area) there are a lot of people who just will never build PC themselves, that is the market i'm trying to target. But even so, given your responses, I should probably lower the price to at least 550 I guess
  14. Yes, I know, I just thought that because it's in perfect condition and because the person wouldn't have to build the PC or pay delivery fees, I could get away with a bit more
  15. Hello, thank you for clicking and taking the time I'm selling my desktop PC because I don't game on it much anymore. It was built in 2017. I want to sell it, I've done an estimate, but i'm not too sure about it. Please keep in mind that it is in €, I live in France, the market, tax system and currency are very different from in the US. Though, an estimate in dollar would still be interesting. My rationale is the following: The total price is the price of the separate parts new added together, but without the delivery fees, and ready to use. Some parts have their price lowered, such as the case, because it has some scratches on the transparent plastic cover, and one of the USB-A port does not work. All parts are in excellent condition, the build works. There is no overclocking set up, the temps are excellent. I have the boxes and bills, too. Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 250€ Processor: Intel Core i5-6500 @3,20 GHz 210€ Motherboard: MSI B250M PRO-VD (MS-7A74) 60€ RAM: 8GO DDR4 from G.Skill 40€ Storage: SSD 480Go Kingston 55€ Power supply: EVGA SUPERNOVA 550 GS 90€ Dongle USB WiFi iAmotus 10€ Dongle USB Bluetooth 4.0 trust 10€ Fans: 10€ (for all the fans) Case: SPIRIT OF GAMER X-FIGHTER SERIES 41 RED VICTORY 15€ Total price: 750€ I know my price is probably not correct, that's why I came here to ask. If you have any advice, if there is anything you'd change, I would love to hear it. Thank you very much for reading it!
  16. Thank you Then, when the time finally happens, I will do my best to find someone who is able to remove it (not that easy in the remote area I live in), knowing that it is okay at least if it is not swollen. Thanks all for the explanations !
  17. Hello, I was wondering something. If you have a laptop that has a dead (or almost dead) battery, say a 10 years old laptop, that you use plugged in the wall. Is it dangerous to keep the dead lithium battery inside? If removing the battery is too hard, for instance. Thank you
  18. I will, thank you. I will tell her that if she wants a small form factor, she'll have to accept having a bad battery life. Thanks for the precision. I kinda always assumed that because the screen was smaller, the battery consumption was also proportionally lower, but i guess it is not a linear thing.
  19. Thanks for all the advices! I checked the specs and prices of all the phones you mentioned, and I think the Galacy s8 is the prime candidate the A40 being a second, cheaper choice. I'll be waiting for the upcoming sales and will keep my eyes opened. Thanks again
  20. Yes sorry, I should have been more precise about my location. I live in France. The store that is the most convenient is www.amazon.fr , there is also www.cdiscount.com , www.boulanger.com . But anything goes I guess... Thanks for the time you are investing in this, really appreciate that. I wish I had kept up with smartphones for all these years...
  21. Under 6" is an absolute size, I mean, i do not have any very precise size in mind other than that. Above 6" is too big, and the closer it is to 5", the better, if you will. A decent battery life is hard to determine, I set this requirement to exclude devices that are very well known for having a battery that is considerably worst than others. It needs to not die for 10 hours while being used moderately to not very much. Again, this kind of things is extrely hard to evaluate with precision for me. About the camera, she is using an iPhone, i believe it is the 4th but it could be one generation higher. Something slightly better than a Huawei P20 lite or a Honor 9 would be great. Something that is sharp and accurate... "enough". I don't have precise measurements for that either. I would take any recommandation, and then check the devices and make a choice. It's ok if some recommandation do not match my actual requirements, it still gives me ideas. Sorry for not being specific enough, I can't really be for things that are at least partially subjectives, and because I wont be the user of the phone. But thanks anyway though
  22. Thanks a lot, your post is incredibly helpful. I think you're right about old gens. I personally have an Honor 9 and just changed its battery rather than switching, because it's awesome for me. The reason why I did not really consider older gens is that I am worried about battery life. Even if she bought it new, the battery surely would have taken a hit by staying in a shelf for 2 or 3 years, wouldn't it? That coupled with the fact that I'm not too sure about this phone's future... But I should probably consider older devices from other Android phone builders. I will check that, and the galaxy 8. Again, my thanks.
  23. Hello, I'm looking for a phone for someone who wants to switch from iOS to Android. Requirements: -Having a decent battery life -Having an OK+ camera, good enough to take pictures while visiting places without it looking too bad -Being "small", under 6" (I know nowadays it's not easy to find...) What she does on the phone: -Sending messages -Reading and sending mails -Taking (non-professional) pictures It does not need to be a fresh new model, however, because of the shenanigans related to Huawei, I think it could be safer for her not to get one. She is not tech savy in the slightest, and i'd rather have her not worrying to much about it. Thanks!
  24. I'm tempted by the matte black one, but i feel like if it gets a scratch, it will show more than on the platinum one. Any ideas? Anyone with experience with the Laptop 2 or other aluminium laptops?
  25. I'm not complaining about my job, and well, I could just use normal shortcuts but I have to copy and paste things every three seconds so it's just more confortable to not have to use the keyboard, it's smoother ? Thanks, this mouse is beyond my budget unfortunately
