LinusOnLine got a reaction from Dekenizer in IT Certifications
Well experience and education is always the best deal. I used certifications to get in to the tech jobs in the 90's. It was really easy back then since no one had any certifications and there were pretty much no cheating either. Just having a simple MCP back then was big. Ended up doing a combination of tech work and teaching which was interesting since I got to see how the Certification industry actually worked. Had to take tons of certifications since it does not look that great to teach someone something you do not have your self. For a long time I was the only freelancing MCT in Sweden

I miss Novell, their NDS they had back then is still better than Active Directory. Got to work a few years with Novell stuff though before they totally went away Their Master CNE was a very cool certification back in the day

That would depend on the certification. I have been in this industry since the 90's and all certifications are not created equal. If it is a pure multiple choice text based test then you are correct and you can braindump it if you like. Many tests are not though. Take the CCIE for example. It is a big lab scenario in an actual lab. Kind of hard to pass that if you do not know what you are doing. Novell had simulations on the tests so did Microsoft. Some certifications like the Compaq ASE when that existed was performed with the books so you could look things up as you would be able to do in real life.

Unfortunately it is not cheat proof. One thing to have in mind though is that if you get caught cheating it is not just your MS certifications you get stripped of it is all of your certifications from all vendors using the same testing centers. Which is pretty much every single certification there is. Oh and it is for life.

I think you are starting wrong.
More people have easy certifications simply because people are generally lazy and prefer the easy way. I would go for a harder certification to really boost your qualification because not many will have it.

It is not the companies spying that worries me. It is how it can be used by a government that is scary. Read George Orwell 1984 if you do not understand what I am talking about.

well, Iphone in general then have lower operating temperature ranges. as the only phones ive seen shutdown are Iphones. and during condiditons where they have shutdown everything else has worked.
i know of the voltage drop that occurs. its a issue that hits electric cars a lot here. still doesnt change the fact Iphones have regurarly failed in conditions where every other phone ive seen has been fine. something which is not good in cold weather conditions if something were to happen

Already did it.
Probs best if we merge the threads and make a sticky for a list of monitors that work well with G-SYNC

I see very slight amount of tearing and it doesn't matter to me, I'd rather just stick with not using it at all, since It can still increase input lag by a small amount.

LinusOnLine reacted to LAwLz in Robert Schellenberg sentenced to death
Not sure about how it's in China, but in the US it is usually more expensive to sentence someone to death than to just keep them alive in prison.
It is very, very, expensive to sentence someone to death because of the more throughout legal process, more expensive lawyers, drawn out legal process etc. Especially since people sentenced to death usually stay in prison for years upon years before being executed (if they ever get that far before the verdict changes, or they are found innocent).
A trial for someone getting time in prison as a sentence is something like 200,000 to 400,000 dollars. Most of the cost of prisons are static that doesn't change much if you add more people (things like power and guards). Food is really cheap too, so with very little money you can keep a prisoner alive for years upon years.
To get someone executed usually costs between 2 to 3 million dollars in the US.
I doubt weapons would do much good. If people are willing to go so far as to shoot against each other, then the government has tanks and airplanes. A Chinese citizen with a handgun vs the military with tanks... Not going to end well for the citizen.
