  1. The user base goes down and the amount of people that can potentially be exposed to the ads lowers. This means less interest in buying ads. So the user base gets smaller and smaller and the ad revenue also gets less. What they fail to realize is that almost none of the people that use ad blockers would pay for premium anyway.
  2. So far I have not seen one successful implementation of blocking adblockers. All the companies I have seen that have tried it had been forced to back on it since they loose to much traffic and are actually loosing money on doing it.
  3. The basic stuff they can be really bad at are throughput between WAN and LAN. Even if the LAN part is gigabit Ethernet the actual throughput is usually much much lower on cheap home routers. Range being a thing that is usually worse on cheap routers. CPU and RAM being bad which will give the router problems handling the network traffic. Better internals can also give you access to other more capable firmware such as DD-WRT or open WRT. Also you get support for way more standards on more expensive routers like faster wireless. More bands, bandwidth, newer technology and so on. This is one of the most performance to price worth routers out there today. https://www.prisjakt.no/product.php?p=3321565 . I have its big brother the WRT3200ACM.
  4. If those are your options go with the cheapest one. Would not recommend any of them but then you will not have wasted a lot of money.
  5. If the Linksys EA4500 has support for DD-WRT you can install that and create a wireless bridge with it and connect your computer to that.
  6. It was more fun back when you would put a bunch of processors in to the same server instead of having multiple cores. Or the insanely fun blade servers!
  7. If you are talking servers they would have used SCSI and neither IDE nor SATA. So who wrote your A+ book?
  8. Guess the music industry probably prefer if people go back to downloading music on pirate sites again.
  9. Oh you are running it on Linux Never heard of anyone having a problem with AMD and Kodi on Windows 10.
  10. I remember when everyone said that 1080 in 24p was the best there was and that it was much better than 60hz. People just fall for stupid sales talk all the time and when someone calls them out on it they will defend that 4k on a 5 inch cell phone screen to death
  11. I took it when it came out many years ago and then it was basically the level of knowing what SSL and a firewall did Nice to see they have improved it because I really like the idea of CompTIA certifications that are not vendor based. I remember you could wave Networking Essentials on the old NT 4 MCSE for Network+ if you had that. Also CTT+ was a fast track to becoming an MCT. CTT+ is really good since it is both a test and a video of you holding a class that will be judged.
  12. You are aware that you take the certifications to get a job or because it is demanded by the company you work for right? It is not like you either get a job or a certification
  13. MCSE can be good depending on what you want to do. It has many different tracks though. If you want to work with MS servers (read designing AD, changing a few drives does not take much) it is more or less a have to unless you do university studies. That is always better to get a job.
  14. It is pretty much impossible to answer. To say for sure you would need to analyze data usage. How critical is the data, how much redundancy do you need and so on. Is there even enough users to be worth doing an analyze like that?
  15. That stuff is scary. It is interesting that most people have never made the connection but when you tell them how it works they realize how common stuff like that is. Same with friend suggestions on FB.
  16. I am retired so pension and a bunch of work insurances
  17. I do as well. Have a 144hz monitor but I still prefer to use my 60 inch TV.
  18. Soundproof the actual case then. Server hardware are not silent. No need for silence in a air conditioned server hall. I have two WD reds in a 2 bay nas in the hallway and that is the way to do it in an home environment.
  19. The only use I have ever had of IE has been to download a better browser
  20. Who would buy anything but crap cheap stuff from a vending machine? A battery bank at 20 000 mAh is not more than 30 bucks here anyway.
