  1. I saw that it could bend, but how do I fit the I/O through there while placing the card in the slot?
  2. The only question I have is about installation, the back of my pc has those slot covers for the gpu, but I don't know how they would be removed as they dont have screws. The product from HP is the p6740f, if any of you can tell me what to do with the dual slot gpu I'm going to have to install, that would be great.
  3. This is strictly a gpu upgrade, I know the limitations of my cpu, that's part of the reason I'm limiting the budget to 100. I've found multiple listings for RX 470's online for under 90 with shipping and they use the 6 pin connector that my psu is limited to. All i'm trying to do is get >30 fps in GTA V @ 1080p Ultra OK?
  4. Well I've got a 6 pin power connector and a listing for a strix 470 at just 80 bucks, gonna go with that, thanks for your recommendations
  5. If I can persuade the owner to just let me take it (its been up for a month with no offers) then could I try to limit the power it consumes? I've only messed with stuff like afterburner once, and that was to boost the core clock and the memory clock on my 5570 so that gta v would run better at 720p
  6. Well I've found a craigslist listing for a 7970, but I'm questioning whether or not my psu could handle it, those were pretty power hungry cards. I've used outervision and pcpp, but they are both showing different wattages - pcpp shows 427 and outervision shows 576. I'd rather not have to buy a new card unless I'm building a new system
  7. I've had an HP prebuilt as my main pc for 5 years now, little did I know that my father had modified it before I had gotten it. He put in a 430 W PSU and a Radeon HD 5570, but now that it's 2020, I'm starting to really feel the age of the system as I try to run newer games. So now I'm looking for a GPU upgrade, but power consumption seems to vary with every review of every GPU I choose, so I want to know: what can I use in this system: CPU: Phenom II X4 955 Mobo: Some proprietary shit RAM: 4x2 Gb DDR3 1600 HDD: WD Caviar Green 5400 RPM 1.5 Tb PSU: Thermaltake 430W Misc: 1x120mm fan
  8. Well it looks like zen 3 still fucking beat intel in single core performance, so even if at the time this seemed way off, it had one performance aspect correct
  9. I only just noticed that your name is VIVO-US.
  10. Reasons for selections: R7 3700X - Great single core performance for gaming, with the cores I need for everything I may ever need to do CM H100I White - It's white, it has good reviews, and it's apparently good for cooling even the 9900k, open to other suggestions though ASROCK X570 Phantom Gaming WiFi - It's a motherboard with WiFi, I don't really know which of the new X570 mobos are good, so as long as this one gets the job done I'm good RAM has been updated - Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 32 GB DDR4 3000 White - It's white, it's ram, and it's fast ram, all good for me Intel 660P 2TB M.2 SSD - It's a fat ssd, and it's fast, I'm gonna need that storage, and I want it fast ASUS 5700 XT TUF Gaming X3 OC - It's a 5700 XT, pretty good for 1440p and I like the design of the card, just want to paint it white Fractal Design Meshify S2 White - White case, good airflow, side panel, I like it, but I don't know how much I like it EVGA BQ 750W - it's a powerful power supply 2X Asus MG279Q 144Hz 1440p Monitors - 1440p, a new resolution for me, kinda big, and they have freesync and vesa mounting Corsair M65 RGB Elite White - Good looking white mouse, RGB shall be disabled Razer Leviathan - I don't really care about the sound, I'm no audiophile, but I chose it because the reviews were good and it's not too expensive Vivo Dual Monitor Stand - it's a dual monitor stand that'll remove those ugly monitor feet from my desk, I like my space KBC Pok3r 3 White Case MX Brown - Good mix for typing and gaming, and I'd like to have a mechanical keyboard Ikea MALM White - I like the design of the desk, and I like the color Ikea JARFJALLET white - I've sat in chairs like this one before, they're great, and it comes in white Well, I don't really care about overclocking the chip, I just want silence, I hate whirring noises, they give me really bad headaches If a smaller PSU can handle this system then I'll put a different one in as long as I can still keep the system quiet and stable I'm not entirely sure what I'd be doing in my courses, but I really like the 5700 XT, it's got pretty good value over other cards and that's why I chose it If I knew what exactly I'd be using I would've included it, as of now the only platform I've ever developed anything on is on Eclipse, but hearing from a company here in Lincoln, that's not the "professional" platform. I also use VirtualBox, I like testing Bash/Batch on virtual machines and that's why I want so much ram, and I like having google in one monitor so I can look up error corrections and such on StackOverflow, and I don't like having my ram eaten by the monster that is Chrome, I found that in my courses last year where they still had 4th gen i5's in their systems.
  11. I've thought of other components to put in, especially used 10 series cards or vegas, but I'm not sure of their thermal performance as they're basically all blower cooled. I found a 1080ti from PNY, but it's a blower style card, and knowing the power of the 1080ti, I don't think that it will last too long without a new cooler, and I'm not about to put in a watercooling loop on my first build. Some of the parts need to be updated since I didn't decide on the white color scheme until after I picked them, and some just need a fresh coat of paint. I was considering a threadripper system because the first generation chips are coming in below 250 now, and that's really good considering their performance, but their motherboards are still really expensive. I do need this much power for this PC because I'm going to be using it for writing, compiling, testing, and correcting code, and I plan on gaming on it when I get time. The dual monitors are for the ability to multitask and get a better view, I didn't realize the importance of having so much space until I took dual credit classes in Java, and now I'm hooked. I am sorry if I don't respond sooner, but class will be starting in 14 minutes, so if replying after that, don't expect a super quick response.
  12. I'm planning my first build that I can take with me to college, I've got most of the parts picked out, but I'm having trouble fitting everything to my color scheme. I have a white color scheme, and I am planning to paint some of my components so they match it, but I've never done it before, I've never even built a machine before, and so I need some help. I also plan to vertically mount the GPU, but after looking online I've found that people have been having issues doing so. 13. Just reporting what I find, even when it seems pretty unreasonable to me!
