  1. I really like the overall shape but that sniper button has me worried. Wondering if it'll interfere with my thumb. The Katar looks perfect for my weird grip but the customer reviews at Amazon & Newegg are very discouraging. Any recommendations?
  2. A friend's going to DC & I've got that amount of money saved up. Will be ordering from Amazon. I'm eyeing the Corsair K63. Would the CM QuickFire Rapid be a better pick? Regarding the mouse, I use a fingertip grip. So it needs to be heavy but kinda small in size. Recommendations please.
  3. When I play games (FPS) I get really immersed in them. Obviously not all games but slow paced ones. Dishonored & DayZ being my favourite. It doesn't take much to do it. I focus into the game and everything around me becomes static or background noise. Same thing when I read a good book and also with certain movies. So the choice and level of immersion is totally dependent on me or my imagination. Have never used VR but I wonder what the experience will be like. The immersion factor is not in my control anymore because its the sole purpose of VR. What is it like when you see major graphical bugs? Those things I guess I'm used to and don't put me off. Is the immersion very easy to break in VR, even if you follow the "general" guidelines & be lag free? Or is it the same as reading books & playing FPS games or will be once you get used to it? Like your brain gets used to the immersion breaks. Your thoughts please..
  4. Think I'll stick with a 960 4GB. On a slightly different note, which brand would be more reliable? Its really hot in the summers, dusty all the time, humidity fluctuates, power surges, load shedding, etc. so the reliability/longevity factor is important. Because of the "dust+humidity=dirt" situation I'd prefer an open design so I can clean it regularly. Personally I'm leaning towards Asus Strix, MSI or EVGA. Any advice?
  5. 331W? I'm getting a lot higher. With 380X: http://outervision.com/b/Y3JdaS -> 443W With 960: http://outervision.com/b/GDelvr -> 353W Getting close to PSU limit scares me, esp considering its a quite cheap Gigabyte PSU.
  6. Thanks, looks like I'll have to stick with the 960. The R9 380X is over my power budget, checking them at http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator
  7. Yeah I already have it. Took me over a year just to save up for the graphics card. Can't afford to get anything better or wait any longer; always some unforeseen expenditure waiting round the corner. Lol, that was so middle class..
  8. CPU: Intel i3-4160 Mobo: Asus B85M Gamer RAM: 8GB DDR3-1600 PSU: Gigabyte X430
  9. As per my specs (check my profile) the GTX 960 would be ideal for me PSU & budget wise. Plan to get a card from the US at the end of April; $230 max budget. Any chance of the new AMD 14/16nm cards coming out by that time? The AMD DX12 fanfare is also making me hesitant. I've never bought a non Nvidia card, since the Riva128 back in 1998. Other than faith/trust/familiarity I prefer NV for mostly for performance/watt & their driver support.
  10. I play mostly CoD & CS GO, but they require "full" focus & practice to get my rhythm going. Not getting enough time lately, with work and everything. Looking for games that I can play during the weekends, games where I don't have to engage in combat all the time. Loved Dishonored, it let me play at my own pace. Actually everything about that game was nearly perfect. Enjoyed the exploration of Rage & DayZ mod. The atmosphere in a game is very important to me, lets me immerse myself in that world. Including the games which are already on my Steam wishlist: Metro Redux bundle, Fallout 3, NV & 4, Alien Isolation, Borderlands series, Skyrim, STALKER series. Any recommendations judging from my preference/weirdness?
  11. Okay the 2GB version it is. I wish I could get the 970 but the 960 is all I can afford. Been using the onboard graphics since my old card died. Regarding AMD cards, sorry I can't bring myself to buy a non NVidia card. I've been using NVidia from the start (Riva) and have dabbled with AMD CPUs but not touching their GPUs. Thanks for the advice guys. Can't wait, my card should be here in 2-3 weeks time.
  12. I'm about to order a Strix 960 with 4GB. Wondering if the 2GB extra VRAM & expense will be worth it. I know the RAM won't be of much use for most games but I'm thinking about open world games like Arma2/3, ARK, etc. Won't the extra RAM be useful for longer draw distances?
  13. Thanks guys. Feel less worried now. Was afraid that we've to get another UPS, which are very expensive, esp. with long backup.
  14. We got a Cisco 6506-E switch for the office. It comes with a four port 10Gbps expansion module, a 48 port 1Gbps module and two redundant 3000W PSUs. It has room for adding another 6 expansion modules. Problem is that our UPS supports 3kVA. I'd like to know if the switch will pull 3000-6000W at startup? Or will it pull that amount when all the modules are plugged in and all ports are being used? Common sense says it should pull only the amount it needs but you never know, hence this post..
  15. If I could afford a sound card I'd obviously get one but I could spend extra for a board with good audio features. Thanks for the info guys. Will look at the Asus cards when I can buy one.
