How does that justify anything when their whole argument to the public was about giving users freedom of choice on their devices? It goes against their argument by removing Rocket League from Steam and making it an exclusive on their own store. And we're suppose to trust they're doing this for the best interests of the consumer and not their own pocketbooks?

I don't like Epic, but if Epic can get Apple to lower their rates then that's pretty epic.

Got the mdf side panels and top cover supports cut. Drilled and installed the threaded inserts and as it seems, mdf is not a very strong material - it split near the edge as you'll see in the pics. I might adjust the design slightly and make those pieces a bit longer, but the actual wood I'm going to use should be a lot stronger (cedar).

Got some stuff done today, finally. Accidentally drilled out 2 rivets that I should have left. Just popped in new ones, no biggy.

Everything else is looking good thus far. Should be able to get some more done tomorrow.

Seems like voat.co is moderated but barely any limits. I guess the alt-right is the more vocal part of the site. I guess any site would tend to lean more to alt-right if unmoderated as they are the more vocal group. We have to see what happens to mastodon, if truly unmoderated it will become a shitshow within a week.

Anyone remember voat.co? It was touted as a cool and freedom respecting alternative to Reddit. I checked it out a few times and it seemed like it was co-opted by the alt-right. Don't know how it looks right now because it seems that you have to have an account to see what's going on.
Now I'm not saying that the same will happen with Mastodon, but it's a possibility if they're really going to be unmoderated like that. Personally I don't even use Twitter but I'm curious to see how this will unfold.

Lost count of how many times I've changed and flip-flopped on the final specs now. Found a few ways to save a good chunk of cash and not really lose out on anything in terms of quality and performance.

The following are final component choices:

Ryzen 5 3600 - This is just a beast of a chip at $250 CAD and 6 cores/12 threads is more than plenty for my usage. Debated going with a 2700/X for around the $200 range from ebay, but I'd rather have the stronger IPC and higher clocks of the 3600 for gaming.

Deepcool Neptwin V2 - 6 heat pipes, dual-tower cooler, easily capable of cooling the 3600 passively (with the breeze from the AP181's) and is priced in the $40-50 range. Considered a few options from Noctua and BeQuiet! but the Neptwin will perform just as well, looks awesome (to me), and is less than half the cost. No-brainer.

Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite - Saving about $50, I'd rather go with a solid B450 board that can handle a 3900X (down the road), instead of an entry-level X570 board. Just makes more sense to me. (change of plans)

Asus Prime X570-P ATX - Best value X570 I could find and costs only a little more than the MSI B450 Tomahawk Max and B450 Aorus Elite I was considering. Decided it's a better option for future upgrades.

Deepcool DQ-M 650w - High-quality, independent-reg'd, fully modular, 80+gold and well-priced. Also looks fantastic. These are fairly new though and supplies are slim so could be tricky finding one. I'm a big fan of Deepcool though. They make really solid products without massive pricing and I want to support them if I can.

    Still TBD:
GPU - Likely one of my RX 570's at first, then upgrade to a reference RX5700 later.
RAM - Capacity will be 16GB and 3600MHz, but brand will vary depending on pricing at time of purchase.
Storage - Will be 2x 1TB NVMe SSD's. 1 for the initial build and then I'll add the 2nd later on to keep initial costs down. Brand, again, may vary, but likely the Crucial P1.

Mastodon is an open source decentralized alternative to Twitter.  :https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-50343054?ocid=socialflow_twitter

We all know that twitter is a cess pool of hate and trolls but due to a suspension of popular lawyer Sanjay Hegde twice the peopl had enough and started flocking to the alternative site which allows federation and openness.
    According to the BBC
So, why were people angry with Twitter?
    Response of Twitter India:
It is a good move as such because we don't want a single entity controlling the views / narrative to the masses. Mastodon has its own set of rules for each instance and is enforced by real humans. It is a better alternative one which is needed right now for users in India.

A few mastodon instances for reference are linked below.

How do you innovate in a market completely dominated by yourself? By stealing from someone and then crushing them with a lawsuit, of course.

Everybody's favorite iPhone maker, Apple, is making some serious moves in the security research field by asserting that they can and will steal from you. This has been in the news for a couple months now but is really starting to get juicy with information as Corellium starts to plead their case.
So in short, Corellium has managed to create a virtual iOS to make it significantly easier for security researchers to poke and prod at iOS without fear of breaking a physical device. Not only is this virtual iOS useful for researchers, it's useful for Apple themselves. Actually, it was so useful to Apple themselves, Corellium alleges that Apple actively encouraged their product, had intimate knowledge of the product, and told Corellium that it could have a big impact. Apple appeared to be quite excited by the product and wanted to buy the whole company, even. Well, about a year and a half after considering an acquisition, Apple decided to sue Corellium for infringing their IPs.

Oh, and, not only did Apple decide to sue Corellium, Apple currently owes Corellium $300,000 for bugs that they had submitted through Apple's bug bounty program. The story so far seems to be that Corellium had submitted those bugs some time back, but figured everything was fine when they didn't get paid right away due to how friendly talks with Apple had been. It seems that Apple didn't get their way, so they just decided to sue Corellium into non-existence instead.

Here's a good tweet to summarize the situation.

(For those who can't view tweets)

Well, if you wanted a legitimate reason to dislike Apple, here you go. This is a really abusive move from Apple to try and take absolute control of an industry and all their lawsuit has done has made them look incredibly bad.

    Build Goals:
Highly efficient airflow design. Clean & unique aesthetics. Use of natural materials. No compromises in cooling & aesthetics.
    Specifications:
    CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 2700X - purchased CPU Cooler - Deepcool Neptwin V2 (fanless) - purchased RAM - G.Skill 16GB DDR4 3600MHz - purchased Storage - Crucial P1 1TB NVMe SSD - purchased Motherboard - Asus Prime X570-P ATX - purchased GPU - MSI Air Boost RX Vega 56 8GB - purchased PSU - Deepcool DQ-M 650w - purchased OS - Windows 10 + Manjaro Linux dual-boot - for now Case/Chassis - Heavily modified Silverstone Raven RV05B-W - in progress

The focus of this project is of course, the chassis modifications. Perhaps transformation is a better word for it. The RV05 case is the perfect foundation for this project, the design of which has been in my head for years. Time to bring this thing to reality! The bottom-up airflow design with rotated motherboard orientation is the best chassis interior design for air cooling, IMO. This case came with two of arguably the best case fans for directed airflow efficiency; the Silverstone 180mm air penetrators. They kick off a hefty column of air straight behind them with out needing to run loud and fast.

I'm planning to run a large CPU air cooler and those 180mm "jets" should be able to provide plenty of airflow that I won't need to run a fan on the cooler at all. That, and there will be a single 120mm exhaust fan just above it to keep the flow moving.

As for the exterior, well, that's where this project is going to take things a whole different direction... To start, I'm not going to need any of the existing side panels, front panel, nor the handles in the top or any of the plastic bits. That's all getting tossed. I kept the front I/O module to be re-mounted in a different position. I'll also be using a custom power button that will be hidden from plain sight. The completed design will keep all the ports and connections hidden.

To start off, here's the chassis after I picked it up for just $40 (needs to be cleaned but otherwise in great shape).

A closer look at those awesome 180mm air penetrators. You can see the stater veins on the backside that work to redirect the airflow straight back in a more energized column, instead of spraying out to the sides as with most typical case fans. A 120mm is hilariously dwarfed by these beasts.

And here's the RV05 chassis, stripped-down to it's bare frame:

More updates to follow soon. Just as a side note to keep in mind; this will not be a fast-paced project. Funds are tight and much of this will be done by hand, slowly over the next few months. That being said, the case will be done probably long before I have the new system components to go into it (need to save up). But again, the case is the main focus of this project anyways.

    Cheers.

I just got one today, it should b here tomorrow so if you got any questions or want me to compare camera quality to LG G4 I can easily do that for you.
Also Mi A3 and Note 8 feels MUCH better to hold compared to Note 7.

I just looked at those two phone last night!, and I literally just got home from checking out Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 8 and Mi A3. If screen is not a big deal, I can suggest Mi A3, the review phone they had on display was not even charged the past 2 days and it had a screen on time of 6 hours yet battery was at %50. I cant comment on Pocophone F1 as I havent had one to play around BUT reviews I saw showed that it had the worst battery life compared to the ones you listed.
ALSO take a look at Redmi Note 7 Pro.

My Asus ZenBook UX410 uses Manjaro Linux and it's a miles better experience than Windows 10 that it came with out the box. I customised mine to look exactly like macOS.
I love that there is no spying or data collection as I'm running an independent distro, not to mention the updates that I download and install myself thanks to Manjaro being a rolling release distro.
It's a clean, pure, and free-ranged operating system compared to Windows which is why I love to use it, even if I do miss out on Windows .exe programs sometimes.
