  1. If you only play games like Skyrim, MMOs, etc, then it's okay. It's also a good stop-gap CPU if you need to wait a month or two to afford a 4690k/4790k and want the PC ASAP.
  2. Except you can see that <3 cores scale way better than >3 cores, so the FX6 would be slightly better than a theoretical FX3, if we only have this benchmark to go off of. An i3 is significantly better than an FX4 in every aspect, and beats an FX6 in most other games.
  3. This is the only reliable CPU benchmark I can find of WoD. All it shows me is that there is serious diminishing returns past 4 cores at 720p, which either isn't very multicore friendly, or has eliminated the bottleneck. You cannot draw conclusions from a single benchmark of a single CPU. Also, 54 fps seems extremely low for 720p with a 970.
  4. WoW is very single core CPU intensive, and your current CPU has relatively bad single core performance, so you will be better off getting an Intel CPU (like an i3-4160 or i5-4460) and a lower/mid range GPU opposed to just a high end GPU.
  5. Are you being sarcastic? £30 for 8fps/10-15% performance gain is an amazing value. You get only 6% more performance going from a 390 to a 390x, and that's a $70 difference. A 970 to 980 is only a 12% difference on average.
  6. 2GB vram is not really enough for high end gaming anymore, get a 390.
  7. Might heat your room up quite a bit if you have poor ventilation in there, but you don't have to worry about your parts overheating with proper airflow.
  8. It'll be great as long as you have good lighting. Depending on what you're doing, you may want to look into a 35 1.8 as well.
  9. I learned completely on my own (through Runescape) and it's not at all like what they would teach in a typing class. My PB on typeracer is 145WPM and my PB on "the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" is 179WPM. I average around 115-120WPM.
  10. Even if it was perfectly optimized, it would still be stupid. Basic math tells us if i5 = FX8350, and i7 = FX8350, then i5 = i7. If the game was optimized in such a way, an i7 would perform significantly better than an i5.
  11. I've heard the HyperX Cloud II's are quite decent for <$100 including a mic, but I haven't used them. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I think 7.1 in gaming headsets is kind of a gimmick and you shouldn't look specifically for it. I thought I had to get a pair of 7.1 headphones when my G930's started to break, but I got Sennheiser HD 558's instead. The audio is so much more dynamic; you can hear drums in just your left ear and a guitar in your right ear perfectly clear for example. (I know HD 558's are open and are not perfect for you, I'm just explaining my dislike for 7.1.)
  12. You shouldn't have any issues crossfiring those cards.
  13. Microsoft Surface Book, Dell XPS series, or an Apple Macbook Pro. edit: hella ninja'd by @ZetZet
  14. If you're not overclocking get the non k version, assuming it's cheaper. It's also worth looking into the Xeon E3 1231 v3 as well since it's essentially a locked i7-4770k with no iGPU for a similar price.
  15. I think you should go either Z97 with an i7-4790k, Z170 with an i7-6700k, or X99 with a 5820k. The 5960x is really overkill for what you need, and unless you don't mind blowing an extra $500+ on a CPU for slightly better performance in some games, I'd stray away from it. What monitor will you be using? Two 980ti's with anything less than a 1440p (preferably 144Hz)/4k display is, in my opinion, a bit silly.
  16. Should add AAA titles at max settings to that. Everything else will run perfectly smooth. @OP why are you going with X79 over X99?
  17. Seems really sketchy. Unless he can put it in a system and run a benchmark and a stability test, I wouldn't mess with it.
  18. Have you ever done a research paper or had to list sources before for school? You should know that subjective experiences with many variables have no place in a discussion or debate like this.
  19. Is it really illegal if the police do not enforce it?
  20. Except H1Z1 isn't properly optimized... I know if the game is perfectly optimized, the FX can be similar to locked or older i5's. However, most games aren't optimized in such a way, and the CPUs are a similar price in most places, therefore, the FX is a pointless option for gaming. Also, an anecdotal experience comparing two totally different things (your friend compared a 4460 and I'm guessing a 4790k, but we're talking about a 4460 and FX-83xx) is not scientific or a reputable source at all.
  21. What was the point in linking the video to me? In not one game did any i5 perform "crappy" compared to the FX, and in some games, even the old 2500k had a 20-30fps lead.
  22. Umm... can you link a single CPU benchmark from a reputable source showing an i5-4460 performing crappy compared to an FX chip in a game?
