Maybe some of the little handheld game systems. Like I recall there being reviews of of course Steam Deck but also previous devices from GPD, etc. But like, smaller, lower cost devices made for emulating retro games, or the programmable variety that comes in a kit (like the Pocket Arcade, Thumby, ETC). Might be interesting.

ya, we definitely plan to do more in that category.

You could say... it's RETRO TIME!

I'd be interested in seeing "unboxings" of software and games. First impressions for that are still quite interesting, and it could give the channel more variety.

Obviously, for a lot of software today, you don't actually get a box, so perhaps this wouldn't fit well with the format of the channel if the focus is on the physical unboxing experience, but it is a big part of a tech enthusiast's experience regardless. That experience of going to a digital storefront, purchasing the product, and running it for the first time.

And if it must be products that come in a box, so that you can do an unboxing, you can just limit that to games and software that does still sell physical copies. But I think the reactions of the presenters is more interesting than the stuff in the box most of the time anyway.

that's a good point. We did it once or twice, so we should do it again.

Games... it feels like we always get the controversial ones XD (Cyberpunk and Last of Us 2)

  3. Everyone!

Thanks for bringing this up. We decided to remove the Nikon Z9 video due to the glaring issue regarding the specific auto focus mode that was never tested, which ultimately lead to the wrong conclusion. We weren't able to simply fix it by our typical methods or refilm as the loaner camera was sent back after the video was released for retesting and posting a new video.

We're going to develop a few new ways to address we don't run into this issue again, but thanks for your patience with us on the matter.

I saw an Extra sponsor spot and decided I would look into it.  I signed up and paid the year subscription fee upfront. I uploaded my documents and bank via Plaid, after 24 hours I was able to enable to card. The amount I could use was below zero until it moved over $100.

So in short after $108 subscription and an additional $100 that I never really understood I was waiting to be able to use the Extra card while also being out $200 from my bank account. Today when opening the app to check on the status of the card I immediately am prompted to relink my bank through Plaid. After entering my info I get an error and am told to either wait or try a different account (which I don’t have).  I make sure my bank account password is correct and login on the online site. Password is correct so I try it again same issue. I wait ~12 hours same issue. Feeling powerless and not satisfied with the options I go to the concierge and get to speaking with an employee. After a quick chat the agent explains that my issue is being forwarded to engineering.

This is where I am currently with the issue. Not a great start to the service but the support is quick and friendly so that is a plus. Will post updates as issue is looked into further and a resolution is achieved.

Thanks! Please keep us updated regarding the status. Also, @Extra Card is a member on the forum so they can help out to explain it to everyone on what happened!

  5. Hey guys,

Jumping in here since it looks like this is a growing issue. Right now we contract the subtitling that uses an AI service that has a human checking, but as schmintendo highlighted, it seems like some of the jargon gets misrepresented.

We'll take it to our team and see how we can get this fixed up.

Suggestion/question more than anything but Savage Jerky was always an interesting/good one. I know there were some issues with Linus eating the jerky on the WAN show but beyond that they seemed solid, hopefully the relationship/sponsorship gets picked back up at some time as I know they've got new flavors out too which I grabbed to try 😄

The jerky was good and I never had to complain about anything so I'm not 100% sure if there was a reason (not sure how the CS was) they stopped working with LTT or vice versa but hopefully they'll come back at some point.

    Hey!

Yep, we still work with them here and there. There's no bad blood between us and Savage Jerky.

  7. Hey everyone! It's the weekly sponsorship suggestion thread.

If you know of any companies that you think we should work with, don't hesitate to suggest it in the thread! These can be companies you may have seen sponsor other creators, digital ads, or just products you are interested in buying/using. It doesn't have to be in the technology space too!

Alternatively, if you have a personal or seen problems with any of the sponsors that we work with feel free to add it below, but keep it objectional (e.g. No fanboyism).

This thread will be open for the month of April 2022.

  8. Hey guys!

We were presented with an interesting opportunity to work with XSplit, which we have worked with in the past but we wanted to through it to you guys to see what your thoughts are and if you guys would use or have used it!

    Website Link: https://www.xsplit.com/

    A few notable Pros:

    - Fairly simple to use software (from personal experience)

    - Free versions

    - Premium version license can either be purchased as lifetime or a monthly subscription

    - Has started to become more B2B focused

    Cons:

    - many different alternatives that are either the same price or cheaper

    - can't connect smartphone to your PC to use as a webcam with a cable, has to be wireless (personal gripe)

    - lack of customization compared to other free offerings (e.g. OBS)

Brief Company Background (from the about us):

XSplit was founded in 2009 with the vision of making visual communication simple. We set out to build an easy-to-use tool that would help people to create TV-like broadcasts for the internet from their laptops or desktops. This would eventually become XSplit Broadcaster, a live streaming and recording application that is now being used by millions of people around the world to create video content for platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, and more. In fact, it was one of the catalysts that helped create the multi-billion dollar video game live streaming industry.

By 2016, XSplit had expanded its suite of products to include Gamecaster, a more streamlined app for gaming content creators (which has since been spun off to form its own company) and it expanded its product portfolio with the acquisitions of Player.me, Strexm, and Challonge (since sold to Logitech). These newly acquired technologies and their creators would help bolster XSplit’s continual growth as it expanded into machine learning capabilities and mobile applications with the launch of XSplit VCam and XSplit Connect: Webcam.

Sure you expected this one to be controversial, but not a fan of the epic games sponsorship.

Many people have their own reasons for hating epic, mine is that I don't appreciate them swooping in on already funded games, and buying exclusive distribution rights after a steam release had been promised.

It's scummy by the devs / publishers for taking the deal, and epic for offering.

    I agree with this.

During the Apple V Epic lawsuit lots of internal e-mails and documents from the court showed that Epic paid influencers to "Disrupt Steam's organic traffic coverage", so with Linus in the middle of his month long Steam Deck usage, and the amount of coverage that's getting, I find the timing of the sponsorship from Epic very convenient.

    * Buying companies and removing them from Steam (Rocket League) where there was already a large user base.

    * Swooping in to get exclusivity rights for games that already had Pre-orders on other platforms (Metro Exodus)

    * Claiming that they are all about developers, but refusing a game on their store because the developer wouldn't agree to exclusivity. (DARQ)

LTT has had some sponsors in the past that didn't work out, I really just accept that in the post ad-pocalypse youtube they're a necessity of business. But at the point where LTT can pick and choose it's sponsorships, this is the first one that's really made me want to come and make a post about it.

A lot of people assume that Epic Hat3rZ are just Steam fan boys who don't want a broken up library. I have libraries with Origin, Ubisoft, Gog, Humble, Gamers Gate, Itch, Indiegala. I even thought them giving away free games wasn't a bad idea to try and build their userbase, but once the exclusives started and their attitude towards customers by sniping games that already had release dates, pre-orders, pages, fully funded with promises made, I thoroughly dislike the company for that. Blame also lies with the devs for doing that, but Epic are the ones laying out the opportunity.

If the devs / publishers / etc. take an epic exclusivity deal, whatever. I don't like it, and if I was otherwise interested in the game, I'll be frustrated. but that's not the issue I'm bringing up.

If the team promised that if their game got funded, you would get a steam key. the game gets funded 3 times over, they take your money, and then surprise. Epic Games Store exclusive now. That's a bait and switch.

Due to Kickstarter rules, it may be legal for them to do it, but it is scummy as hell. I blame everyone involved in making the business decision to take epics money, including people on the epic side.

The shenmue 3 fiasco left a bad taste in my mouth.

Noted on future Epic Game Sponsorship, we'll discuss this with the team if it gets proposed again.

OK, serious suggestion time (for me, I'm not saying your suggestions aren't serious). You guys have brushed on old GPUs a couple times with your "Earliest SLI setup" and other stuff to that regard. I would suggest a collaboration with LGR (Lazy Game Reviews).

    Why?

Well, the history of nVidia, AMD (and ATI by extension), 3DFX, Diamond, Matrox, Cyrix and more are all interesting, and offer useful insight into how computers work and how the tech industry works. You could make them a TechQuickie, or a full blown video titled something like "The long Forgotten CPU Company Nobody has Heard of" (Cyrix).

LGR has good in depth videos already, but you could make more of an overview, and you could borrow some of the rare parts from his collection.

Agreed. LGR is pretty cool, and I (forgive me if I'm wrong) remeber linus mentioning him in a wan show a while back.

Thanks for the suggestion and the discussion, but send over the ideas to our LTT video suggestion thread as we want this thread to be about sponsors.

Does dbrand have plans to do an ltt steamdeck skin? I think that would be cool, like the previous ltt collabs with dbrand. Might be a little late, but hey

We can bring it up, I think they're concentrating on getting the project killswitch in a shippable state. We can highlight that there's interest in the LTT skins for the steam deck.

  15. Hey everyone!

This is our first official thread for our incredible fans to raise concerns, issues, or praise our sponsors.  It will be open for about one week and then closed, with a new one created in its place. The reason why we want to do it this way is to help prevent the thread from getting too long since we don't want to be 30-40 pages deep trying to find one single piece of feedback.

What kind of feedback we're looking for:

    Customer Service Issues

    News on bad business practices

    Poor product quality

We want to keep this thread as productive as possible! So let's make sure we're not getting off track.
