  1. For the water block i have: https://www.aquatuning.com/en/watercooling/cpu-cooler/cpu-cooler/wac-alphacool-eisblock-xpx-cpu-polished-clear-version LGA 1700 is on the compatible list so it should work Radiator: https://www.aquatuning.com/en/watercooling/radiators/radiators-active/rad-alphacool-nexxxos-xt45-full-copper-360mm-radiator should be big enough to handle 14th gen Just in case waterpump and reservoir: https://www.aquatuning.com/en/watercooling/reservoirs/reservoir-with-pump/inkl.-d5/pum-alphacool-vpp655-pwm-g1/4-inner-thread-including-eisdecke-d5-acryl-v.3 https://www.aquatuning.com/en/used-goods/b-ware-agb-alphacool-eisbecher-helix-250mm-ausgleichsbehaelter-schwarz/weiss I'm still finalising this build so i might wait for that new MSI board. Month or two is not that much of a difference
  2. Hi I'm finally doing an upgrade to my PC after putting it off for a few times. I've tried to put together a list of things to swap but i'd rather have someone take a look at it as it's not something i do often as you all can see by the title. I'm hoping to end up with another setup that will last me for years without worrying or thinking of upgrades, even if atm it might be an overkill. I'd rather stay with intel/nvidia combo however I'm not dead set on it. The biggest worry is RAM as I'm not entirely sure how to value it's potential. Cause first I see sticks with 6000mhz and 40CL for 4x the price of the one i listed and then 8000mhz and 38CL for half of that 40CL (all G.Skill). Motherboard is second biggest question mark. Budget (including currency): around 2.5k USD Country: Poland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: All types of games, web and software development, video editing Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Current build: CPU: Intel i5 6600K CPU Cooler: Custom loop from Aplhacool Motherboard: MSI Z170A GAMING PRO Memory: 32GB Corsair Vengeance 2666Mhz Storage: Samsung M.2 970 EVO 500GB + Samsung SSD 2TB Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Aorus Case: Fractal Design Define R6 Power Supply: be quiet! Pure Power BQT L8-CM-630W Planned Upgrade: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2PtqVW CPU: Intel i9-14900K Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE X WIFI7 Memory: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 or Corsair Dominator Titanium 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Video Card: Asus ROG STRIX GAMING OC GeForce RTX 4080 - 4080 Super around the corner so most likely would pick that one up instead Power Supply: Corsair RM1200x SHIFT - already bought cause of a crazy chrismass discount
  3. Poland and prices are 779PLN for K70 Mk2 and 769PLN for K95 Platinum that's for Cherry Brown switches
  4. Yes i know but at the same time they're copied cherry mx that can either lack in quality, be louder or fail faster depending on what batch of switches you get. Again all i'm saying is according to various forums opinions. There's enough threads everywhere about various switches and manufacturers tbh. It's all subjective and I just wanted some simple answers as to chosing between keyboard models not another switch battle
  5. after watching and reading all kinds of reviews of specific keyboards, "TOP 10" rankings of them, other forum posts and answers in them it's noticable that cherry MX is rather on top. At least in general area and availaible to mainstream user. In the beginning i was considering Razers Blackwidow simply cause of looks alone, fact they were using their own switches was not a problem for me and producition is done by Greetech which supposedly isn't supposed to be that far back behind Cherry was an advantage but at the same time too much complaints about build quality of Razer itself made me cross it. At the same time i'm not siding with either side of Razer/Corsair battle i noticed that is going on between users. Old time Logitech or even non brand user. Since i mentioned it. Logitech Romer-G is something that left me a bit confused in the beginning. Totally different build, really short and light actuation point among other things looked a bit too much considering switch from membrane and i decided to stay "classic mechanic". Some consider it a step forwards from aging cheery but original is still staying on top of the lists. So good switches from what i can see no argue with that but i had to narrow down my choices cause i would never reach conclusion. Fully aware of options for building your own keyboard with some top of the line components that would fit needs like tailored suit but i'm not a pro writer or gamer so it would be too much of a hustle that in my case would be pointless if i can get basically top of my checklist by going to the shop and picking it from the shelf so to speak.
  6. Hi I've decided to finally switch to mechanical keyboard. After checking many reviews, comparisons, forum topics etc. I decided to go with genuine cherry MX browns which lead me to two models. Corsairs K70 Mk2 and Corsairs K95 Platinum. When it comes to prices atm in my country they're practically identical so it's not a deciding factor. I'm aware of general differences and looks like it's only different logo at top, additional macro keys on K95 plus RGB bar, though there might be something else that I missed. Mk2 build quality went up and features aluminium body as well now. As to what it's going to be used: quite a bit of typing and gaming - random titles, random genres from FPS, through MMORPG finishing on RTS so whatever I'll find interesting. I read a bit too much about too many keyboards so I'd need someone to give an experienced opinion about those two to help with decision between them and to clear that mess I have in my head atm. Thanks
  7. Can you recommend a good motherboard that would handle it well if i would go with it? Cause as Steve from Hardwere Unboxed explained it, a good VRM and motherboard matters a lot Also you've mentioned that 9700K sometimes shows better results than 9900K in games but when i checked some benchmarks FPS between 9700K and 8700K had not that much of a diffrence of maybe 2-5 on average
  8. Yeah i know it's coming soon but i've posponed ugrade by 3-4 months already cause i heard of 9th gen, now i'd add another 6 to wait for Ryzen and let's be honest, considering tech... there's always some other rumor about something coming soon. If i'd make this post when 3000 series is out there might be something yet again from intel that they miraculously figured out their 10nm issue and bring 10th gen in another 5 months (doubtful but who knows) It's awesome and i appreciate that you guys give well though and reasonable advices not some elitist crap like "9900K all the way!" but i just don't want to end in a loop of "wait a tiny bit and groundbreaking CPU comes along" when i mentioned i don't want to spend money when i don't have to i didn't mean that i have a tight budget, i love tech so if i have to cough up more then be it, just not spend it in stupid way
  9. With quick currency calc: 8700K would be 583 9700K would be 689 so it's still quite a bit but not as much as 875$... plus I've recently saved up a bit cause I decided to go with Define R6 instead of a full tower like Dark Base Pro 900. That's why I consider it but at the same time don't want to spend money just for the sake of spending it Thanks
  10. Hello everyone I've decided to upgrade my "spend first few paychecks PC", and CPU is on the list. At the moment i'm running i5 6600K paired with Gigabytes 1080Ti, and I waited for 9th gen to release cause i wanted to see what happens. As much as benchmarks look good, paying over 875$ (in my country at least) for 9900K is a no go. I'm also switching to 1440p, 144Hz monitor cause i'm perfectly aware that this 1080Ti (swithed from 970 last year cause i got sweet deal through a friend) is an overkill for 1080p monitor. I'd need an advise as to what to upgrade to. I'm fully aware that at the moment Ryzen is the best performance for money but i've always been with Intel so not sure I'd switch, old habbits die hard i guess. Since they're fairly similar in cost i'm debating between 9700K and 8700K but i don't want to spend money when i don't have to. Liquid cooling loop parts are already waiting so i'm going to OC this without temps being that big of an issue. As to what is it's destination: gaming. Random titles, random genres, new, old, pretty much anything i'll find interesting so high performance will be needed as well. With either of those CPUs i'll need new motherboard so if possible i'd be glad to get some recommendations for that as well. i might have missed some details you'll need so ask away, happy to provide it Thanks
  11. Okay now i can see that mid is enough :) luckily I won't have that monster rad on top so my higher reservoir will fit and there will be space for pump. Now i just have to decide on a specific model... which won't be easy cause beside performance i love when my rig have looks as well and at the moment Phanteks Evolv X is tempting af cause as Linus would say " Look at all those RGBs!"
  12. As much as that Thermaltake tower looks great I'm not sure I'd be able to plan it out in non standard case since it's my first totally alone build plus doing a custom loop. I had Dark Base Pro 900 in mind if full tower would be the way, at some point even Cosmos C700P cause I'm infected with RGB and looks are as important as performance for me
  13. I'm running Aorus 1080 TI so according to their site it's 471mm long, current tower Zalman Z11 Neo (build quality is tragic that's why I'm changing it) fits it pretty well. But I wasn't sure if mid tower after switch to liquid with pretty big radiator, reservoir and pump separate cause I went for looks and reserve instead of compact in my loop will be comfortable size to build in. Thanks for the answer
  14. Hi Everyone I'm in the middle of upgrading my PC. I'm switching to water cooling and going with custom loop. Current case is totally useless so i'm looking for a new one. I'm not sure if middle-tower will be enough or should i just upgrade to full? I don't want to spend money just for the sake of spending it on full tower if middle can handle it without any issues, but i'd like to have space to build it comfortably without worry of "1cm! will it fit or not?" if possible so if full-tower is the way then i'm all for it. in case of specs of the loop: 250mm reservoir, pump seperate from it and 360x45 radiator If you have any recommendations i'd be glad to hear it. UV reactive liquid and little RGB planned so please keep that in mind
  15. Hi Everyone! I'm in the middle of a little revolution on my desk at the moment. Since new Intels are coming soon i decided to do a pretty big refresh and upgrade for my 3 year old "first job and spent all I've got" build. I've changed few things over the years, it'll be marked in build list that starts... now: PSU - be quiet! Pure Power L8 630W, 80 plus BRONZE CPU - Intel i5 6600K CPU cooler - be quiet! Dark Rock PRO 3 GPU - Gigabyte AORUS GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Xtreme Edition 11GB - switched from Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming Motherboard - MSI Z170A GAMING PRO s1151 RAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4, 32GB(4x8GB), 2666MHz, CL16 - started with 16GB SSD (system) - Silicon Power VELOX V70 120GB 2SSD(added for fast load times in games i currently play) - GoodRam Iridium Pro 240GB HDD - Seagate Barracuda 2TB Case - Zalman Z11 NEO - ugh... no Zalman ever again. Screen - LG 24MP67VQ-P So now the reasons for this thread. I'm using this refresher as a chance to switching to liquid cooling on CPU(GPU might follow later on), parts are already ordered - custom set from Alphacool. Since beside performance i also love when my gear is an eye candy on my desk (my pleasure, not to show off for others) i'm going with UV reactive liquid, reservoir with UV cathode, one more cathode in case and some RGB fans (Corsair LL120 most likely). Because i'm not lucky enough to earn my living in USD or EUR, depending on price tags caused by currency rates and country you're in sometimes can create crazy numbers i'll go with either new i9 or i7. Last hardware change i have in mind is M2 drive for system - instead of that 120GB Velox cause it's not as good as friend that worked in electronics shop atm recommended... we didn't make all choices on point unfortunately. This whole plan created few questions that I'd like to get some answers from people that know this stuff way better than i do and unfortunately not for all of them i found answers in LTT videos or this forum. 1) power supply - do i need to change it to something more powerful? net calculators say it should be enough but not sure how trustworthy are they. If so then maybe a recommendation? 2) PC case - i'm leaning towards full tower to get some room to breathe for this new build since cause later on i switch to GPU liquid cool i tried to future-proof and ordered 360x45 radiator for my loop plus pump is separate from reservoir. Currently i'm between: be quiet! Dark Base PRO 900 and Cooler Master Cosmos C700P. But as i watched review after review i'm not 100% sure about either and take other into consideration. Max price range would be at C700Ps 300$. I might be uninformed enough and unaware of mid-tower that would fit all of it with no issues and look as good so feel free to recommend anything that would hit all the markers i mentioned earlier. 3) M2 you'd recommend? 4) I'm fully aware that non of it is out yet but considering performance of previous generations and that specs are out already which motherboard you'd maybe recommend? if it's to early for prognoses about them then skip this one 5) last but not least time for some good monitor - since playing on 24' 1080P 60hz with this setup will be an overkill i was thinking of something bigger and better. at the moment i have Acer Predator XB271HUBMIPRZ on my mind. 1440P and 144hz IPS should make a good use of all this. but as with previous questions i leave it to an open discussion. 6) any other part I should consider changing? 7) cable, adapter, component i should have but forgot/wasn't aware i'll need with above configuration? Since i'm not everyday digging in this type of stuff i might have missed some important details you'd need or add something you don't need or make wrong assumptions and choices I'd be glad to receive some good pointers and help from you guys. But if you want to go with just simple "you're stupid" or "RGB bleugh" not constructive criticism please keep it to yourself. Just trying to build a machine I can call my own according to my own taste. Thanks in advance
