  1. Hi! I tinkered with the settings again and it seems that Overdrive was working as intended for me. While 'Speed' Overdrive removed the annoying ghosting effect in Metro Exodus, it made GTA V look worse. When I set it to Balance, the ghosting is eliminated, even while driving. I will run a series of tests for a few more days. One thing that really bothers me is that sometimes the monitor gets stuck at 120Hz. Yes, it's at 120Hz on my OSD and in the Nvidia Control Panel. The 144Hz option is missing. I'm not sure why this gets eliminated. I think it has something to do with switching from DP 1.2+HDR to DP 1.2? Even if I turn off FreeSync and turn on Aim Stabilizer, it still gets stuck at 120Hz. I had to reset the settings and mess with the other items just to randomly get back the 144Hz. I'm not sure if this is a bug but it's really annoying. My old G-SYNC monitor never had this problem. it was constantly at 144hz
  2. Oh, there is an Overdrive function in this monitor. It has Picture Quality, Balance, and Speed. I don't notice much of a difference between those three. I'll return to the shop tomorrow and ask for a replacement.
  3. It's set to 144Hz. I currently have 144, 120, and 60Hz choices I checked it just now. There's ghosting, according to this article. https://www.blurbusters.com/faq/lcd-overdrive-artifacts/ Does this qualify for a monitor replacement? It's really hard to play with this kind of thing showing up while moving around in Metro. It ruins the immersion
  4. The option is turned off, along with the other checkboxes
  5. Hello. A few days ago I asked for recommendations for a monitor. I ended up buying the Aorus monitor. It's pretty nice. However, I've started to notice something strange while playing Metro Exodus and GTA V. Whenever I move my mouse from a static position, there's some kind of shadow in my field of view when I move my mouse from left to right. Also, whenever I move my mouse around in the desktop, the cursor leaves a trail of cursors behind. Is this normal? I'm not really sure what this defect is called. It's like when I look at a painting and I move my character a bit, there's some kind of shadow or smudge. This is very apparent when I'm driving around in Los Santos at night. It's very distracting. G-SYNC compatibility is turned ON in the NVIDIA Control Panel. FreeSync is turned on in my monitor. I tried turning off FreeSync and turning on Aim Stabilizer but the same issue still happens. I still have a few days to return this monitor and get a replacement. Thanks for helping
  6. Hi, everyone! Thanks for your inputs. I bought a new monitor last Tuesday and I feel very happy about it. It's an AORUS AD27QD 1440p 144Hz FreeSync monitor. I uninstalled my Nvidia driver using DDU on Safe Mode and then installed the latest driver (419.35). I turned on G-SYNC in the Nvidia Control Panel and then verified everything via G-SYNC Pendulum demo. The FreeSync function in the monitor was turned on during the test. I didn't see tearings during the demo. Also, NieR: Automata's FAR mod states that G-SYNC is supported and is turned on. Thank you for suggesting FreeSync monitors. I was able to save some money. I initially wanted to buy the ASUS PG278QR monitor but I no longer wanted it because of the price difference (it costs about 90 dollars more in my place). I also wanted the Acer Predator XB271HU monitor but I've read some posts online about Acer not being able to replace the LCD of the Predator monitor. So I was afraid of that. Anyway, if something wrong comes up, I'll post an update about it. Cheers!
  7. Thank you for your responses! I'll consider FreeSync monitors. I'll be buying a monitor tomorrow. What inclines me to get a G-Sync monitor is that I won't get any headaches about screen flickering and hard crashes. This is why I'd like to know if G-Sync is even important for 1440p 144Hz gaming. I mostly play FPS games like Metro and open world games like NieR: Automata and MHW (Witcher 3 soon) Thanks for the link! The comments about the FreeSync monitors are very useful
  8. Hello! My old monitor died and I'm looking to buy a new one as soon as possible. I've been thinking of jumping to 1440p for a while now. I used to own an Acer XB240H monitor. 24", 1080p, 144Hz TN panel with 1ms response time. I'd like to know if buying a 1440p 144Hz monitor without G-Sync is worth it. Here are my specs Intel i7-8700 G.Skill Trident Z 2x8 16GB C17 RAM Asus Z370 STRIX-E ASUS ROG STRIX 1080 Ti non-OC My main concerns are screen tearing and ghosting. The reason I'm asking this is that I've found some cheap 1440p 144Hz monitors in my area. Most of them don't have FreeSync and G-Sync. Thanks!
  9. I decided to tinker with the settings again. With 120 Power Limit and 160 Core Clock, I get at least 90-100 frames. But as soon as I start to add some numbers in the Memory Clock, the game becomes unstable and it crashes. The crash happens when I am riding a vehicle, crash into a car, and exit my vehicle. Even with just 100-130 Core Clock and a little bit of Memory Clock, it tends to crash.
  10. From what I've observed, it isn't stable. Sometimes it sticks to 2000Mhz, sometimes it stays between 1800-2000MHz. Another thing I noticed is that the game doesn't fully utilize the graphics card when overclocking. At default, it says 80-98% of GPU usage. At overclock, it only ranges between 50-65% usage
  11. Hello. I was wondering why I'm having lower FPS on GTA V with my card on overclock settings. I'm using MSI afterburner. Basically, when I overclock the card, I only gain 72-78 fps at daytime. But when I use the default settings, I get a huge boost in FPS, despite using the same graphics settings in both situations (everything is maxed out) Overclock settings:Power limit: 120Core clock: 167Memory clock: 190Custom fan curveHere are my specs:Asus Strix GTX 1080 Ti Intel i7-8700G.Skill Trident Z 16GB 3600MHz Asus z370 Strix E motherboard Thanks for helping! These are my results on the default settings These are my results from overclocking
  12. Yep! I am considering getting some cable extensions. I have a 20% CableMod voucher from my Asus motherboard. I can't wait to use it. Thank you so much for helping!
  13. Thanks for replying! I decided to go for the HX750w power supply since it costs just the same as the RMi and I wanted to go for Platinum for peace of mind. With regards to connecting the power supply to the Asus GTX 1080 Ti, should I use two separate PCI-E cables or just use one? Each cable has two connector. Seasonic instructs people to use two separate cables for powerful cards so Im not sure about Corsair
  14. Thanks! Right now, I am choosing between the RMx and RMi. From what I have read, both PSUs have semi-fanless operation but it is possible to set a fixed RPM on the RMi. While the idea of semi-fanless seems nice, I think I'm more comfortable with a fan that spins all the time. I don't know if passive cooling is effective on PSUs. Thanks again! I'll purchase one tomorrow
  15. It says R1711 Thank you! I am now considering getting one of the PSUs listed at Tier 1 , but I am not sure which one to pick aside from the be quiet Straight Power 11 and Corsair ones. Generally, I am looking for a power supply that is of good quality, fully modular, and has a good number of years for warranty. Thanks again for all the replies!
  16. Thanks for the input. I've read some stuff online about graphics card headroom, where the 1080 Ti needs at least a 600w power supply. Is this true?
  17. I live in the Philippines. Straight Power 11 is available here, as well as the various Corsair models. Would you consider 600 or 650w to be future-proof?
  18. Hello. I'm looking for a new power supply. I used to have a Seasonic M12ll 750w Bronze power supply but recently, the fan was rattling when I plugged in a new graphics card (Asus GTX 1080 Ti STRIX). It was ratting while I was playing GTA V and benchmarking with FurMark. I sent it back to the shop for warranty and they will give it to me within two to three weeks. I need a new power supply. Anyways, here are my specs. Intel i7-8700 (I might upgrade to an 8086k), Asus GTX 1080 Ti STRIX, 2x8 16gb G.Skill Trident Z RGB RAM, Asus z370 STRIX-E motherboard, Noctua NH-D15, and a Silverstone Primera 01 RGB case (it comes with a fan hub and RGB controller). The case has four 140mm fans, three are RGB. ADATA XPG SX8200 249gb m.2 NVME SSD and 1TB Western Digital HDD 7200RPM Thanks for the answers! I'm kinda iffy about Seasonic at this point.
