  1. As a developer this solves a few issues for me, specially how slow it was to run git clones and npm builds on WSL 1.0. This a move to capture developers into Microsoft sphere to sell Azure services, just that. Office, the old cash cow, is now a web application with some desktops apps that are just custom web browsers (Electron apps). I would just hope that better business people would jump to Canonical to try to gain something out of all this movement so more money can flow into desktop. And if I'm dreaming, more into mobile linux.
  2. Just to discuss the recent big news... "Microsoft will be shipping a Linux kernel with Windows" https://devblogs.microsoft.com/commandline/announcing-wsl-2/ For me might be the reason for not changing my work computer to Ubuntu so.. maybe not that good. Gnu/Linux has won the developer fight but might not help the end users.
  3. For developers Microsoft just launched big news https://devblogs.microsoft.com/commandline/announcing-wsl-2/ This is not for end user because it doesn't seem to support graphical interfaces.
  4. Add more details like which distro you're using and which command did run to see that.
  5. According to steam, still not enough people have changed
  6. Finally started to use Ubuntu as my primary OS in the desktop when Steam Play was launched so a few months ago.
  7. Check if it's only Google Drive software issue by testing with other software. Considering the quality of the google photos backup software it might just be an google software issue. (The google photos software on windows has a poor management of bandwidth.)
  8. I'm running W10 and Ubuntu on the same 512GiB SSD. It's annoying to have 10 partitions (8 just for UEFI + Windows 10 crap) but I have games on both systems and it's enough.
  9. 9 months later.... it's FIXED!!!!!! PS: I'm so used to the workaround by now that it will take me time to get used to being fixed PS2: I mean this bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus/+bug/1765304
  10. For coincidence, today for the first time, the audio in my Ubuntu just got all distorted... back to fix my operating system again :D
  11. Sorry for the type... but it's fun to see click bait works to get some people interesting in Linux Well, that's sad
  12. A question for Linux fans, do you appreciate the more corporate culture of Linux or it's OK because there's still a lot of community spaces out there? The video link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVHcdgrqbHE
  13. Yep, it's just Visual Studio (brand) for Mac. This seems the current feature list https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/mac/ In good news, you can just download the community edition and try it. Still, I would probably just enter the VSCode workflow instead.
  14. Since Linux trolls already dislike Linus, why not a video about trying to do video editing in Linux? Related to these 2 videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpXUQgCbtQw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hksW66jw1jA These two gentlemen are much more into Linux but I think it would be fun to get Linus/yours experience as much less experienced in Linux than they. PS: Sent from Ubuntu
  15. Yeah, I meant individual/home users support. One seems to be fixed, didn't notice that https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+bug/1761844 The other one is trickier https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus/+bug/1765304
