  1. Hey guys, I just got a new laptop, and it idles at around 2900 for the CPU fan and 2600 for the GPU. When under load, it goes to almost 5000 rpm. Are these speeds normal, or is something wrong? This is my first time experiencing something like this, so all information will be appreciated. Thanks!
  2. Hey guys, I am having a hard time deciding between the Asus - ROG G531GT (9750H + 1650) and the Dell G5 (8750H + 1050ti). They both seem good on paper, but the Dell has a metal chassis, and the Strix has a plastic one. I also don't really know about the thermals for the Strix. The Dell has a 56Whr battery, but the size isn't mentioned for the Strix (just says 4hr). The dell has a Type-C thunderbolt port, but the Strix has 3 USB-A 3.1 ports. Looking into all the details, they are both very good. The Strix costs a bit more but has about 10% more performance on paper. The Dell has a good reputation since it has been out for a while, but the Strix is fairly new and has no professional reviews. Can someone who has already bought this give me some advice about the thermals, performance, build, screen, i/o and so on? Thanks! P.S Linus if you see this, please review this!
  3. Thanks, I hope to get the Raspberry Pi part of this working by the end of the school year.
  4. Hey guys, I have been a long time fan of Linus Tech Tips, and I really enjoy the more technical work that Linus does with Anthony. So, to add on to potential ideas, they already had, I would really like it if they test out our little project that me and my friends made. We spent a lot of time on it and it is really taking shape. The test version will work for Windows, but the final product will run on a raspberry pi. This is free to use, and it should really help drivers. The program is a driving assistant that you can control with the google assistant. It will detect if you fall asleep non-obtrusively using a webcam and machine learning. It also has a HUD that can be enabled to map out obstacles in front of the car. All the processing is done offline so you don't need to worry about privacy like other products. The final product will be cheap since all you need to buy is a raspberry pi and 2 webcams, and the software will be free. It would be great if other users on the forum can also test this since we are just high schoolers, and don't have a large pool of people to help beta-test this product. Please report any issues to the GitHub repo. Thanks again, and Anthony, please make Linus do a video on this, I really want to see him try and figure this out. Here is a link to the GitHub repository: Driving Pal Thanks!
  5. Hey guys, I was thinking about getting RGB fans for my build, but then I stumbled upon the intake v. exhaust issue. How do I know if an RGB fan is an intake or exhaust, since flipping the fan would just block the lighting. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  6. They said it would take at least two weeks earlier in the thread.
  7. Thanks for getting back on that. As a side note, if that is not in the official rules, can you allow that just so some of us have a chance to win it? @Crunchy Dragon @CPotter @LinusTech
  8. What if someone else came and filled in for me? @CPotter @LinusTech@Crunchy Dragon
  9. What if you win, but you are unable to fly to Canada? Could you just video call in and ship the computer, or would you be disqualified? @CPotter P.S loved your techquickie today!
