  1. I've received probably a dozen of them now. In many different forms some claiming they put a rat virus on my computer. I guess since school has started some of these people have nothing better to do but send out scam letters. :)
  2. Just an update for anyone that has a similar problem. Nothing I did could get it to unlock, There are some "legitimate trademark software" that you can try and find and it could work, but I contacted Samsung and they said to take it to their dealer/rep that repairs phones. They will fix it. Their price was 60.00 bucks, I found another cell phone repair place and they charged 25.00 to fix it. So the phone is unlocked and good to go now.
  3. I purchased a used Samsung S7 Edge from someone that received it as a replacement phone, used it for maybe a month then bought a google pixel 2. He was on Telus, and I am using Sasktel. I asked him to unlock it, because current customers typically have less hassle then those who buy them second hand. He did so, and received the unlock code. However, when he wrote down the password, or copied it, he forgot the last number, so he tried many times to unlock it unsuccessfully. We talked with the Telus rep who corrected him with the unlock code, but still it wouldn't unlock. She had said on their end the phone is unlocked, It was asking for a puk which is suppose to come from the sasktel rep for my sim. So I bought the phone. The IMEI is clean. I took it to the sasktel Reps: Sasktel just can't figure out how to "unlock" it. They contacted Telus who doesn't know what else to try. Samsung said it's a carrier issue. They tried a new sim chip, same issue. They tried a factory reset, that didn't help. I'll be picking it up tomorrow night after work to see if I can't figure something out, but I'm pretty clueless with this stuff. Everything else about the phone works correctly, Just when the sim chip goes in it always asks for PUK code. Is the phone "bricked"? Is it frozen because he tried with the wrong code to many times? Which would require some Samsung "unfreeze" code or something? Has anyone run into this? Would reinstalling the Samsung OS or putting on an older version make any difference? (not that I exactly know how to do that) I'm hoping someone here will have some insight as to what I can do. Thanks.
  4. The reason I made mention of if, is because it had my correct password and email that I used for ncix.com. Pretty slim chance they were going to guess what my password was, so I figured it had to do with the ncix sale of the private info sitting on the harddrives. Which means there is a legitimate issue, if you used the same password for other accounts. It's just a matter of testing out a few sites like amazon, newegg or memoryexpress etc. While the email may be generic, the password threat could be a problem.
  5. I do not have a webcam. I knew this was fake. I did a malwarebytes scan anyways out of curiosity, but of course it found nothing. I only had one other place that I used the same password and I had changed that yesterday. I figured most people here are smart enough to know it's nonsense, but posted it for the few that may have gotten spooked.
  6. I guess with the WAN show bringing attention to the fact that NCIX's info has been sold to unscrupulous individuals, the "hackers" are now trying to extort money. I received this email this morning: From: shows my email (the one on ncix) Sent: September 25, 2018 2:40 PM To: *shows password you used on ncix* Subject: account was hacked Hello!
