I think I am more confused about which chip set platform would suit me better AMD or Intel. I might be able to push it to an i7 8700k or Ryzen 7 2700 so long as I do not create a bottle neck with a sub $200 mobo and memory that I is not top of the line. I forgot to mention that wife and I might like to try VR after the system is up and running a well established ( ie, everything works as it should ). Not sure if my parts choice will need to change for that setup.

The new HDD I have was bought for storage. I well be acquiring a SSD for actual boot up etc.

Oh crap, Ya sorry everyone.... Under 1k CAN is my budget including a cpu AIO cooler.

So it's been 20+ years since I last gamed as a serious hobby. Now that I'm older the learning curve is steep on the latest technology and my patience and time is limited. I currently have a nice NZXT i700 case (red), 1TB storage hard drive, and gtx 1080 ( Zotoc ) gpu. I anticipate being a casual to moderately serious gamer playing mostly FPS games. I Stream alot of video content. Also the usual many open tabs of stock sites, music, etc etc.. I did do alittle oc'ing back in the day but I'm not much of techie these days. So I"m ISO a great to best CPU/mobo/memory setup that will be kick ass on the games but will be a minimum of tinkering and no issues streaming video etc. So can you guys chime in and help to end my migraine from researching and failing to come up with a solid combo....
