wait....you have a x3700h. why are you not running your comp to the avr then the tv? it supports 4k 120hz. set the avr ( hdmi set up) as 8k and bypass, then )4k/8k signal format) as 8k signal enhanced so avr doesnt do any render stuff and youll have up to atmos sound
    and your all set

also its a tv...it may not support 1440/60. or hell it may not support 1440 is why its limited.
    a lot of 4k tvs only support 1080 or 4k. not 1440
most tvs dont have the resolution range of a monitor
    what tv is it?

that looks ok except the sub placement. i think it would work better at the right corner on the tv wall. sub placement is key for good sound. or even moving it to different placements (sub crawl). youll hear differences

nope just the 48"c2 as far as i can see (like i said the tag says 899 but at register it comes up 699)
. my friend went yesterday and grabbed one...still 699 us

i see you mentioned the c3 at costco thats 1299 us for the 48"

4k 120hz 422 8bit most likely. hdmi 2.0 does not have the bandwidth even with driver updates to do hdmi 2.1 4k 120hz 444 8 or 10bit (and with that tv should be what it uses)
    thats what your seeing

I got it to work 4K 120hz on GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Xtreme WATERFORCE on Samsung QN55QN700BF 8k QLED TV. SO I KNOW IT WORKS! Nvidia had a driver update that made it work with it's HDMI2.0

costco has a 48" lg c2 for 699 right now. (tag will say 899 but once you get to the register it rings up 699)
not all costco's carry it so you might need to go to different ones to find.

You could buy second hand AVR, possibly around 2000-2010 era that has 5.1/7.1 multi-channel analog input.

circeseye reacted to mariushm in Which Realtek audio codec is the most powerful and advanced?
ALC1200 and ALC1220 are the most common high end and will have about the same analogue performance
ALC1220 is technically better, as it has a front panel headphone amplifier capable of driving 600 ohm speaker, but lots of high end motherboards will have their own high end opamps for headphone amplifier purposes so the sound quality may be even better than plain ALC1220

From Igor's labs : Realtek ALC1200 demystified - what really distinguishes the entry-level sound chip from the larger ALC1220 | igor'sLAB

The ALC1200 offers a maximum of ten DAC channels, which simultaneously support 7.1-channel playback, as well as two independent stereo output channels (multi-streaming) via the stereo output on the front panel (HD audio) with up to 110 dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

The ALC1220-VB is also a SoC and high fidelity multi-channel audio codec with a bi-lingual interface, supporting High Definition Audio 1.0a and the industry standard I2S and I2C. The ALC1220-VB also offers DRM, 10 DAC channels and two channels for multiple streaming. However, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at the front panel is now even up to 120 dB, i.e. 10 dB more. There are also three instead of only two stereo ADCs integrated and the line-in offers up to 110 dB SNR instead of the 102 dB of the smaller ALC 1200.
DRM is also not an issue, but the ALC1220-VB also has a Direct-Stream Digital (DSD) decoder and encoder to enjoy DSD stream content and create your own DSD streams with minimal quality loss due to DA and AD converters. The headphone amplifier at Port-D (front panel) is a so-called capacitor-free connector, which eliminates the need for an external coupling capacitor and ensures less distortion and fewer pop effects. This headphone amplifier at port D has a high output voltage of up to 2.1 Vrms and can drive high impedance headphones (up to 600 Ω), which is not possible with the ALC1200.

There's some newer Realtek audio chip, mostly on Intel motherboards, but I didn't do research on it but I doubt it's better for analogue quality

For example MSI Z790 MEG Ace has a Realtek ALC4082 paired with a ES9280 DAC ( digital to analogue) which supposedly is better for headphones.
The ALC4082  is basically ALC1220 but with input a USB 2.0 connection instead of HDA / whatever is traditionally used, so in theory higher throughput, digital etc etc
See for more details this : https://www.igorslab.de/en/the-old-alc4080-on-the-new-intel-boards-demystified-and-the-differences-from-alc1220-insider/

The ES9280 claims higher SNR (130dB vs 120dB the Realtek chip would have) : ES9281A_80A_PRO-Product-Brief-v0.2.5.pdf

theres a problem with that. resolution plays a HUGE part
1080p up to 50' copper depending on cable quality
2k htz? can also use up to 50' copper depending on quality
4k? 4k 60htz i believe is 10' copper after that you need optical or other means of boosting the signal
4k 120htz is 6' certified copper after that optical. theres been a couple copper hdmi that have done 10'

I will start this off as a summary.

    Bookshelves for front and surrounds.
    Subwoofer.
    Center speaker.
Av receiver. 7 channel denon or yamaha. Or go more channels if you want 4 atmos speakers.
    Speaker wire.
    Rca cable for subwoofer.

I do not recomend bipoles or dipoles as with a regular bookshelf you can hear the audio with precise directionally. Eg you know where the audio is coming from.
Bipoles and dipoles diffuse the audio and it's difficult to know where the audio is.

Interested in a Dolby atmos setup with ceiling speakers?

As for a display. I'll recomend a oled either Sony or LG.

    Best of luck!
