Good post man,  So Intel has gotten their act together with RAM and sh*T.  Very cool to know.  I mean we bought my dad and I bought my brother 3200Mhz cuz I just saw soo many benchies how 2666Mhz and 3000Mhz vs 3200mhz, there is a nice difference in FPS in games.

Facts are Intel doesn't really give a sh*T what speed RAM you have.  I mean yes its good on Intel, just the thing is AMD really needs fast RAM and takes full advantage on it.  AMD matters but if you had a Intel I would say your fine.  Yes on a AMD rig there can be a nice difference maybe 10fps to 20fps more on avg in a game for example.

True,, Also we are 100 percent sure its not the PSU anyway, cuz this problem doesn't happen with a 1060 card.  I don't see how a video card can be shot if its brand news.  Well my GPU fans make a chugging grinding noise unless I turn up the fan to 39 percent fan speed or higher.  So if they can't even sort out the video card fans then yes it is possible your sexy new GPU might be a mesed up product that needs RMA.  You pay twice the price for a whole new rig with 2080Ti and that should work properly,  But if your saying a 1060 works but 2080Ti doesn't then this is a tough one.  Mostly people would point their finger on PSU then mobo then ram.  You have seen its neither with a 1060 so I recommend grab a temp video card somehow and preferably a 2080Ti and see what happens.

Yes I have read about Seasonic customers on amazon.  Like 80 percent of the reviews or posts are a botched PSU.  Grab a Be Quiet or a Corsair serries or a EVGA.  Seasonic is very shady and their warranty is not like Crucial which is 5 years and 10 years on their premium base.

I apologize I take into consideration each persons situation.  I reply different depending on everything.  I know he did a fresh Windows install but that installs nVidia drivers very old ones.  So I mention DDU to actually try DDU.  I don't think I made a cardinal sin.  :0

Try doing a DDU "Display Driver Uninstaller" in safe mode if possible and clean and start then back up into normal mode now install the latest drivers and let us know.

Turtle Rig got a reaction from Wingfan in Black Friday
Just FYI:  Black Friday will not put up hot gear, its all weird gear and stupidt things or a Vizio TV for 400 bucks and stuff like that.  The 9900k and so on 3900x and what not will not go on a killer sale on black friday, however their prices will drop by default due to its the end of the year.  Don't expect price changes with those CPU's as that is not what black friday is about.  Unless Im wrong but every black Friday I notice its weird stupid things that go on sale.  Not top of the line gear that is new like the 3900x.  The 3900x will remain 500 dollars and so will the 9900k.

Your spending 5k and only have a 8 core processor ?  Also only 32GB RAM ?  Also the 1080Ti ?  I can make a build that will crush this minus your perihperals and what not.

Firstly with 5k you need a 2080Ti.  Also for 5k you need a 3900x or 3950x or upcoming Intel HEDT Cascade Lake.  I can make this exact build with a 10980XE 18 core CPU and mobo and RAM.  The three main things for 2k.  WTF is costing you 5k.  Also no reason to pay 140 dollars for Windows.. They have keys you can buy for 11 bucks.  At least on halloween it was like that.  140 is insane rip off.  The keys for Windows 10 are always like 11 bucks.  You have good components but still doesn't make sense to spend 5k and only have a 8 core processor and a old 1080Ti ... Also you don't need to spend soo much on these components.  Buy a 3900x and a 2080Ti if your spending 5k ya know.  Also do you know why your spending 500 dollars on a mobo ?  Or you just want the most expensive one and waste money.  What do you expect from that mobo, its not even a HEDT.  Your fine with a 200 to 300 dollars mobo.  Also get a Gigabyte motherboard if you plan on OCing that 9900KS.  good luck.

Turtle Rig got a reaction from paddy-stone in CPU Fan Error
Just go to the BIOS and ignore the fan in question in the fan section of BIOS.  I don't know if this is the right advice but give it a shot.  My fan also gives error upon bootup so I disabled it or ignore it should I say.  For some reason your main CPU fan might be low on the boot up sequence.

3950X would be more “future proof” due to PCI-E 4.0 IMO and would also run cooler. The only reason you may choose the 10980XE is if you need tons of expansion that relies on PCI-E. The 3950X has fewer faster lanes and the 10980XE has more slower lanes. My only concern with the 10980XE in like 5 years time would be if devices saturate the PCI-E 3.0 x 16 slot which is only likely to be a graphics card requiring that amount of bandwidth.

Thank you soo much for that chart.  I really appreciated.  Looks like I could gain about 30 fps more after looking at this chart.  Also the 10980XE will be clocked at 4.8Ghz just fyi...

Definitely possible, but it will be on a game by game basis. PCPer did a clock for clock comparison of Sandy Bridge compared to Skylake a few years back and there was a solid 25% increase in IPC. In your case being on an Ivy chip, at most you're looking at 5% more IPC than Sandy (give or take).

Here you can see a nearly 51 fps disparity (25% increase) between Sandy arch and Skylake arch (highlighted in red; probably slightly less fps if clocks were equalized, but reality is if you also gain additional clockspeed with an upgrade you might as well tie that to the overall performance increase)

In your case, you will also see gains related to core and thread count increases as well; maybe even clockspeed gains if you can overclock higher than 4.5GHz (and of course if the game engine in question takes advantage of such increases).

It'd probably be best to look at GPU and CPU utilization during offline gameplay. I can't imagine a 4930k at 4.5GHz holding back a 2080 by that much, especially if you're playing at a high resolution, but I have no way of confirming that personally.

Generally we don't talk about them being "sound proof", just "closed" or "isolating", and optionally with "active noise cancellation".  I presume that's what you want, but I mention it because even the best will not block all sounds completely.

If I recall correctly the WH-1000XM3 from Sony is considered quite good in this regard, though I have not tried them myself to confirm.  A commonly recommended pair for a long time was the QC25 and later QC35 from Bose.  Those I have tried, and I find the noise cancelling quite good and the sound being quite poor with noise cancelling turned on, and so poor you won't want to bother using them with it turned off.
