  1. It kinda fits, not my example, but the one I’m following
  2. I’m moving cases to a lighter one, that being the fractal torrent. Right now I’m using this 420 freezer AIO from arctic. Massive fan of it’s preformace so far. Any tips or ideas for what else I could do to liven it up? I would send pictures but I haven’t gotten the torrent in yet. specs (colors) 13600k, (good luck seeing it, but it’s silver) msi 690 pro ddr4. (Black with silver/light grey) Fractal Torrent (Black one with dark tint) Asrock Formula OC (Grey, black, gold OC logo on backplate, green trim on shroud) ram (normal black vengeance non rbg) Arctic (has some really cool silver colored stripes on it, kinda reminds me of pinstripes on old suits) plan so far is to take off the gpu shroud, and I’m going to either airbrush, probably for starters try to color the green strip to either silver, or gold to match the logo on the back plate. I do know I’ll have to trim a bit of the bottom bracket for the fans if the fan samples I saw online of people putting in the same cooler. Might do silver accents on the flat plastic panels with stencils and such. Any other ideas to add some flavor to it?
  3. Above are my specs. MSI z690-a pro ddr4, PSU 1200 corsair I've had a somewhat recent issue after upgrading my board, CPU. Where recently when playing Path of exile and red dead 2 monitors show no signal at all and a sound bug happens where it just repeats the last tone played until I do a hard reset. No sign of the computer working, and also no fan ramping to max like id expect if the OS completely bugged out. The time between hard crashes is inconsistent. And no patterns I could tell, other than both games being Vulkan related, but so was world of warcraft and i had no issue with that. Also tried changing poe to Direct x 11, same issue. I ran every test in OCBase That I could, no issues after 2 hours of each test. Then I did a hour of both Cinabench r23 and furmark running at the same time. Same thing, no hard reset. GPU settings are as default as they can be, removed drivers with that tool you need to be in safe mode in for. and reinstalled them, same thing, CPU settings are default to my MSI board, abet with the voltage moved down just a tad so there is thermal headroom. Here be temps, abet thats during the cinabench r23 run after a hour of repeating the 10 minute cycles https://i.imgur.com/XRPLUyf.png And here is GPU temps in furmark https://i.imgur.com/r5fUnpH.png Eariler in the test, but it didnt change after a hour The power supply I tested in another computer with different hardware completely, as well as the ram, just normal DDR4 3600 vengance 2x8gb Windows I've done a keep personal files reinstall, as well as a clean one, no change. Not sure if its related, but my HDR monitor during red dead 2 kept going black and coming back due to HDR settings being strange, Assumed it was a windows issue, as the HDR was clearly working the whole time, and never had a issue with other games during HDR Edited: Also I had already updated Bios due to it being 13th gen on this motherboard, Made sure SSD were updated already. Edited 2: Downloaded MSI center, It showed the realtek audio was never installed, as well as some intel driver, Updated with that, Have not tested yet Edit 3: Still happening, repeat of same exact crash the night after MSI updates
  4. I'll attempt it in a few days, as they don't ship too fast where I'm at
  5. I watched gamers nexus video on it, wut makes that one more foolproof for the install? Just from a Allen wrench being able to do the turning degree required?
  6. Just bought 13600k as the benchmarks looked like a pretty large upgrade from my 2700x. After a few hours redoing my entire build a few times to attempt to fix my mount, and airflow my cpu still is slamming into thermal throttling within maybe 1 or 2 seconds of r23 Attached image is the most recent thermal paste application, as well as hwmonitor and for the most part the pattern hasn't changes much. I heard that the MSI z690 voltage targets were pretty high? But with a arctic 420 rad with push pull going 100% fan speed it would handle everything a i5 would do. Is there really anything else I can try? I could also just be asking to much of a 420 rad i guess, ive overclocked client's units just fine with much less cooling than this, i guess its due to mount and this being a inferno? This Test was after changing the voltage to mode 9 instead of 12 as default, still feel like id get better numbers and temp with this amount, got 24000 in r23. I could be being stupid and unrealistic
  7. Ye I have two kits I own, one 3200, and the other 3600. But if the cpu isn't working then hard to test ram atm
  8. The AIO was for the future 7000x3d that will hopefully come out at least next year
  9. Na I haven't tried the beta bios but I can try when I get home, and yes that 95 error popped up on my other b550 board I had to test, that has never had any GPU installed. Tried to do the remove all PCI E devices including wifi on board
  10. Yeah I might try that tomorrow night if I don't end up returning the cpu. Rethinking if I just wanta try to get a AIO with the return money, or try to get another 5000 series to test if same issue
  11. Obviously I'd want the 5800x3d, but that's 4x the price. And as for pins ye I checked those, checked it out of the box and the 3 or 4 times I took it out to clean between installs
  12. I was wanting to see if Smart Access Memory or having a much more up to date CPU would help my cpu performance and my 6900xt, and my 2700x has been a little inconsistent with stability, and stuff like XMP, also the 5500 supported faster memory. (And it was in stock at work, so impulse buy) Maybe it was me also buying into the RDNA 2 stuff, was hoping it would do more than just the 12-14% improvement with base and overclocks are at face value
  13. So while I was waiting on AMD to release hopefully a 7000 series 3d, I bought a 5500 because it was 120$ and in stock at work. Same day I brought it home and updated my Bios from 3.50 (Latest for my 2700x) to 4.70, which was the last stable version of bios my x470 Taichi MB has. Install went fine, but trying to boot I noticed it never fully went through all of the Dr debug codes like it should during the 3 restarts, it got hung up on the 2nd one, with the error 95. Tried to remove everything possible, cleared Cmos, same error. Tried all combos of ram I can do. Put in my old 2700x, and for some reason it boots? I was told this from Taichi's page, Do I assume that my bios update went poorly? or that I should just return the CPU? Pic of Bios and cpu Also Should I go back to the old bios 3.50 for my 2700x in the meantime?
  14. Ryzen master in the current tab was showing the same thing as task manager, the picture was the current profile it should have been set to and was rebooted. Thermals I checked in HWmonitor and it read the same as the built in temp on the cpu cooler. During and idle it was about 30-33c
  15. So I was helping someone with a issue they had on a 5950x, first thing they tried to go into bios for some reason and reset it. Running a dark hero x570 so I had to set the cpu fan to ignore with it having a AIO. Another issue that cropped up was it being locked to .54mhz and not going above it, also the core voltage wouldn't go above .9. Clearly this isn't right and cinabench r23 multicore was 8000. Tried several fixes like replacing the power cables, tried new ram, new psu Don't have a MB or a another cpu that's compatible. Tried turning off precision boost on both, having on either MB and ryzen master or both on, removed hibernation and tried setting windows power plans to max. Tried updating bios and flashing to a older one. Tried all three options of manual, auto boost and all presets. Tried linux distribution and a brand new windows one. Any fixes yall would recommend? Personally I told him to try to reach out to ROG and or amd about replacing them. Also don't have a picture for cinabench r23, but it was horrible and below a 120$ cpu
  16. yeah sorry i was making the post before i had to drive for about 30 minutes to think on it. had a pc part list made for it https://pcpartpicker.com/list/J8h2K3 the only thing thats new and going into it that i bought recently due to Christmas sales and amazon gift cards are the noctua fans im buying, current board is a x470, need the extra m.2 slot and the capacity to upgrade to gen 4 drives is nice. one of the samsung m.2s i didnt buy yet, incase a 980 pro went on sale. budget is around that 350-425 range. goal is to get as many M.2s so i can replace all of those sata drives since i have a linux and a windows OS on the 500gb, to have at least 2 tb of storage for each. linux will have all the hard drives and the old SSD i have for movie storage. I bought that case so that in a few years i could move linux to a small ITX board. PSU is very overkill but it was on sale and i got a employee discount Ideally i can get 4 m.2s. but seemed either rare or on much too expensive boards
  17. Was looking at the MSI MEG X570 UNIFY, I don't think there's a cheaper board or a better one with that many m.2 slots. And being gen 4. Reviews looked solid as well? Anyone have any recommendations? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/J8h2K3 Goal being 3-4 m.2s with 4 being the goal for under 425$ so i can shed a few drives to run a raid setup for the two hard drives for important data. the reason for all the storage is most of it for media storage, movies and such. MEG B550 UNIFY might end up being strictly better but id need to upgrade my CPU to the 5600x also
  18. Maxkeyoards have a few that are pretty cheap, think you can do custom prints with them as well for whats the legend on them
  19. You know how clicky the "KAILH WHITE BOX" would be? I'm assuming I'd be looking at getting the browns, but if the white ones click is pretty mellow I wouldn't mind They do look pretty clean. Not sure how standard those keycaps would be to swap later, kailh I haven't really touched, all I know about them is that they are a bit cheaper for replacements and don't have those fancy gold plated contacts
  20. Been researching this for a bit now, wanted some other insights into which yall would recommend. Atm using a Logitech G910 Orion that I got on sale a few months ago, it's OK. The shape of the keycaps I happen to like, but they really don't make much of a difference, keycap wise they don't stand out either. Got a bit of money saved up for a upgrade, primarily looking for a keyboard that's pretty easy to clean, not alot of small angles like the logitech one that stuff gets into. 100% size or at least having dedicated media controls, past that just don't want one of those cramped 96% that shrink normally bigger keys like right shift. Switches wise, as long as they are not super loud like blues or short travel like silvers they are fine. extra macro keys are a bonus but not needed. rgb couldn't care less if they have them or dont. Planning on buying a wrist rest if the keyboard doesn't come with one. A plus would also having a decent app or built in memory that works in linux, another reason I'm not wanting logitech keyboards anymore. A few that I liked. Max keyboard, the 105 key version, idc much about the custom print and price, but it did look high quality and a option for a wrist rest. The options for switches was pretty small though. Keychron k10 being wireless is dope, looks good, the optional wrist rest looks really really bad and uncomfortable Kbdfans looked like a fun diy, but didn't see any 100%, closest would be a tkl with a extra keypad.
  21. Before I bought the view 71, I helped a buddy build in a simular full tower case, and i much preferred working with that much room for cable management, It also helped storage wise, Idk if ill be getting rid of my hard drives, but as of right now i have 3 hard drives and 1 sata ssd, most mediums ive seen only have room for 2 hard drives + those SSD mounts on back. Ideally i upgrade my motherboard once we know if the new AMD CPUs can go on x570 boards. Then i can go 3 M.2s and get rid of the hard drives. edit: The one i liked from Phanteks was the ENTHOO PRO 2 CLOSED PANEL, I love the no damn tempered glass part of it. In addition the PSU not even being in the same area code means i finally have a excuse to guy some cable mod stuff. Though that PSU doesnt look like it gets alot of airflow at all.
  22. Currently rocking the Thermaltake view 71, I love most of it, though it lacking a psu shroud, and the general cheapness of the panels are not great. Loved the hinge on the front instead of 4 posts like most glass panels, though I'd like something that's not about 50-75 pounds like the view 71 Anyone have a recommendation for a full tower case with good quality materials, and preferably most slots can use 140mm fans so I can reuse the 140s I already have. I liked the corsair 7000d airflow, but the reviews didn't seem great. Ideally for size the smallest Id wanta go is enough room for 3 140mm fans in the front, ive gotten used to the sound of 140s and i dont wanta go back to 120mm fans
  23. My dyslexia kicked in the wrong time, I for some reason thought someone referring to a non open source gpu as not free, implying a cost
  24. How bad is the cost? Assuming it's a software license they usually aren't that cheap Edit ignore this, my reading skills are not comprehensive
  25. So I'm needing to upgrade anyway because of my monitor resolution, and from what I saw the nvidia support driver wise and experience was really really bad. Do yall think it will get better with stuff like valve using Linux in upcoming devices like the steam handheld, or do yall think it doesn't matter, nvidia will still have a pole shoved up the ass for support? Also how well does amd gpus work with Linux? Just like bad reviews, I never hear anything good, I only hear what doesn't work I.E Nvidia features.
