If you could convince Vessel to get their collective shits together and support 4K playback then I would sign up in an instant.

I second this idea. Please review the BlackBerry Passport or BlackBerry Classic. Both very solid phones, also its a great sign of respect to the great Canadian company based in Waterloo.

They are great phones, perhaps you guys may get a tour of the office. (**Hint Hint** **Would love to see a video for that** Would share the heck out of it**) Or even get to see to yet to be openly unveiled BlackBerry Slider phone

    Please Linus ?

Blackberry Passport or Blackberry Classic, sick of seeing all these touch screen phones, at least someone out there is trying something different and it deserves to be reviewed against the current market.

I think they should man up and publicly say "We fucked up and we want to make it up to the consumers" just like what Ubisoft did with FC4 and ACU. Ubisoft offered free expansions when they realized the games were horribly unoptimized for non-beta usage.

Nvidia should offer the same thing by sending users that can prove they purchased a GTX 970 with a $50 prepaid VISA card in addition to $50 in game credit for either Steam or any other game distribution platform of the users choosing.

When a company drops the ball they should be held liable, this is not the dotcom boom where no one knew exactly where things will go. Failures during the dotcom boom is somewhat acceptable since almost everything was a shot in the dark. Its far different now, Nvidia knew very clearly that they messed up, but chose to reveal the mistake after they made back a significant amount of money from uninformed consumers.

    tl.dr

Nvidia fucked up and should compensate.

Calling them back, changing the firmware and maybe the PCB and sending it to the customer again is way to crazy. I'd like to see them offer refunds and if the customer decides to keep it since it doesn't affect him in his kind of usage they should give him a free game like FC4, ACU or what ever else is reasonable. That would be fair for all parties imho

They didn't lie - they weren't aware of the issue.

Honestly they have two choices - do nothing or spent a boatload of money recalling them and shipping with new firmware. Hopefully they do the latter.

I think they should send refund GTX 970 owners with a rebate type of system. Enter your cards serial number or something for a $50 Visa/Mastercard thing just like mail in rebates. Owners should also get a free game of some sort.

Yes Nvidia should be liable to provide a payout of a flat $50 and also offer a code for game remdeption.
The card does not perform as accurately as their spec sheets state. This is inaccurate marketing that was reviewed after a significant number of units have been sold to consumers.
This is the same as the pentium debacle causing inaccurate calculations that affected all users depending on the hardware.

The explanation seems reasonable given the results that we are seeing. If I knew of the differences I may have gone for an AMD card.
Nvidia and their integrity issues conceptually and literally. Sigh

Yup, it would be a good idea. I don't have the money or even the age to sue them (i'm 17, living in the dirty Mexico wearing a sombrero and drinking tequila everyday)But i'm pretty sure that in this case the customer would win. It's interesting anyways.
I would like that Luke & Linus talk about this on the WAN show, they know the industry and they have experience so their opinion would be pretty interesting...

That's some shady business practices that Nvidia chooses to do.
I am really pissed off since I paid over 400 for my G1 edition and now we find out that it was kneecapped before it left the factory.

Its nice of them to offer a sponsorship. However their product feels not very trustworthy to me. Since their marketing techniques are to basically bait and hook you on to their subscription service like the 14 day trials of McAfee found on many brand new computers.
I can see the value of using an application like this but there are others that are more up front and direct with their intentions.
So my opinion is to turn them down, you are the one with the power of choice not them.

Noooo....these guys are known for installing spams and backdoors to your computer if you downloaded their antivirus. Quite notorious in Taiwan and China.

Appreciate the community stepping up to help here

In general as long as it doesn't do anything harmful, I have it installed right now and I can definitely see the value of having some of these "handy dandy" things that it does all in one place versus being scattered across sub-menus on the device or multiple apps... ESPECIALLY for less experienced users who don't want to research how to do all this stuff.

Someone that has done it a few times...about 20 minutes.  First time, about an hour...with a little instruction.  Doing it yourself, you get the experience in.  So doing anything related to that machine down the road becomes easier.  It becomes YOUR build.
