This will get you up to the news:
Long story short: similar amount of cores as Ryzen 2000, other than there will be a 12 core Ryzen 9 and there are more rumors about the 16 cores..
15% extra IPC over Ryzen 2000 (amount of 'stuff' it can do per Ghz), while it also has some higher clock speeds.
Release in July I believe, although some chips were going to arrive a bit later.

If the rumours around Zen 2 are true, then I would definitely wait, considering a new ryzen 5 should have near the same performance to the today's ryzen 7. Also should push prices down from the older stuff. I only built my rig last month, but im getting a new 3000 series from ryzen if the rumoured specs are true haha.

My 8320 was awful too and I didn't have that good a mobo...
I put together a much better Ryzen system, it runs good.

The problem with upgrading to a new cpu is that you have to switch half of your hardware. I am not sure if it´s worth it since you are already happy with the performance.

Anyway, I would just second what's already been said. There's great new CPUs out there now that would kick yours, but upgrading that means a motherboard and RAM upgrade too, and if you're already happy, that's just a waste of money. Keep using what you have until it can't keep up with what you want anymore
