  1. So my question is this and I'm sure I know the answer. How often do I need to replace ethernet patch cables (Current cables have been in the patch bay for 10 years maybe longer) ? Is there a shelf life on them? Would adding a cat 6a Patch cable help me with a patch bay that is Cat 5e rated? In an office environment that uses 1gbps internal switches with a coax connection of 600mbps would cat 6a help? In the end with the current setup would it be worth the time and money to start upgrading or wait? Would not mind a video explaining this along with maybe some graphics.
  2. This actually sounds a bit complicated with a potential for data loss I think for now with this old server i'm gonna stick to my spinners thank you I never got any notifications. Thanks again for the reply.
  3. I have an old raid 5 setup. Being a business I cant just change it. So I will have to work with what I have. I was considering an SSD upgrade. If I go this route can I mix match drives spinners with ssd one at a time to rebuild the array on each ssd? Also will I notice a speed increase or will it be very minor? What are my real benefits in doing this. And I am looking at using 1 TB drives. So what would you recommend that would not break the bank. With sata interface. I currently have Seagate barracudas in the server.
  4. Ok thanks brwainer.... I'm not really trying to circumvent the security of the hotel or hack the speed just trying to see if there was a way I could alter my pc and combine a connection. Stinks that there really is no way. Oh well thanks for the help all.
  5. I have verizon but hosed right now they are only a hair faster where I am at.
  6. Ok so I cant just connect to the hotel AP with 2 different wifi connections. Because i know they limit each user.

    Hotel Wifi

So I am sitting here on vacation dying because my wifi is so slow. I guess I'm lucky compaired to others the speed is around 600kbps. Is there a way to add a dongle to my PC bridge the connection and get a 1.2mbps connection or faster if I add more dongles. Would love to see a video test of this on tech tips or something. Help... Also not sure if this works how I would get another webpage and agree to the terms of service. Hotel wifi normally grabs mac address correct. Thanks to the forum and you and the staff for the info on this. If I ended up making a dup forum post I'm sorry please remove this.
