  1. I did, I had 1mm and 0.5mm on hand and the original pads were 1mm. original pads were just far squishier.
  2. Hey all. I just got a used rx 580 and nearly killed it. It was hot and loud, so I replaced the dried out paste and the clogged up, dusty pads. Booting into windows seemed fine, stuck on 3d mark and the fans went nuts, white artifacts all over. Quickly turned off and tore down the GPU again to find the paste hadn't even touched the cooler. I think that although the thermal pads I use (Gelid GP Extreme-pad, 1mm) are the same size, they seem to be a little harder so not compressing as much. I replaced with 0.5mm pads and they hardly touch the cooler. I spread a little paste on them to check contact and it was poor, if any at all. I'm now looking at a choice between the blue arctic pads and thermal grizzly minus pads. But the question is, are they definitely softer than GC extremes? Know any pads that are like 0.8? (choices are limited in the UK) thanks in advance
  3. So, it just magically started working after like 50 reboots, oh well
  4. Hey, looking for some help. I dug out my old Phenom II 945, gigabyte ga73lmtusb3 rev 4.1. and scrapped together a little general use PC for my little lady to minecraft on.I used to run this CPU at 1.37v @3.9GHz using the AMD overdrive utility. It was a simple matter of checking the 'apply last settings at boot' box. Now, OD just won't auto apply the settings. I set it to 3.7ghz@1.375v, hit apply and it works fine but it does't save on boot. Curiously if i restart it applies the setting, but powering off fully it returns to default. It seems to refuse to run the AODservice.I've tried the AOD service set to automatic, delayed and manual, I've tried adding it to registry, I've added a shortcut in the startup folder, I've run dism, I've had it to run as administrator or not, it lists AOD in the task manager/start-up tab as enabled... but still won't auto apply the settings. Strangely I had it working, then searching for a way to slow the cpu fan I installed gigabytes easytune 6, then it broke AOD. I got so frustrated I did a fresh install of windows but it still won't work. This can't be done in bios as for some reason the minimum voltage is 1.475v so I apply the multiplier/bus speed in bios then use AOD to undervolt, it used to work perfectly.Any ideas? It's doing my head in, want to fix it out of annoyance now rather than any actual need to do it.
