    Modems don't really exist anymore, they are all routers. A modem is a MODulator DEModulater, and converts digital to analog and back again for sending data over the old analog phone lines. ADSL is using the excess capacity using a digital signal over those same copper lines, so unless you use dial up internet you don't use a modem.

    Then it's not using a modem. The definition of which is a device that converts digital data into a format that can be sent over an analog transmission medium.

    You might have been trained to call it a modem, but a "cable modem" is a marketing term. It's not actually a modem, but closer to a network bridge or router.

    A free Azure account from MS gives you a free windows VM or Linux VM. 750hrs a month on each OS.

    You also get a bunch of other free services to use.

    For a start, you refer to your potential customers as "the local nerds" stop that. Next you bought multiple limited offers meaning that those same "local nerds" missed out on the deal. Lastly the "local nerds" know what they are buying and who they are buing from, they will not pay more than $20-$50 over what you paid for the parts because that's what most shops charge for assembly...without warranty.

    Either offer a warranty though a legit business you setup or suck up the fact that you didn't do your research before jumping in with both feet. Honestly it sounds like you have a bad attitude and I wouldn't want to buy from you because of that alone. Local nerds indeed.

    FlappyBoobs got a reaction from LAwLz in Stadia is refunding to expired cards and refuses to help customers.
    I moved country from the UK to Europe, and have had the same issue. But in my case I told my old bank what my new bank details were, so when people paid into my old account by mistake, even with a closed account they simply forwarded the money. By law they have to offer this service free of charge. But unless you already did that you are SOL.

    Your refund HAS to go to the card (account) that made the origional purchase, because that it what their terms and conditions say, it's also part of PCI DSS compliance, so you are not going to win any argument to do it another way.

    The only option you have is to wait, and hope they will see that your transaction failed, then they will come up with a process of contacting you for a refund.

    Edir: I actually wrote that before reading the chat convo. But that's exsctly what you've been told. "If it does fail then wait for further instructions".

    You don't seem willing to fix your own mistake, and are expecting google to foot the bill for your own life choices. Don't get pissy with the guy trying to help you, listen to what they are telling you to do and do it. The options were contact your old bank to find out what they can do (they will tell you to wait for the email) or just wait for the email. That's it.

    The current price for a 4080 would build you a 13900k based system without a GPU. Let that sink in, the GPU costs more than the rest of an entire top tier build. The target market is not worried about saving $5 in electricity if they are paying used car prices for a fucking GPU.

    FlappyBoobs got a reaction from Internet_Goblin in dismissing mac gaming as something that can become viable does not make sense.
    The issue isn't the why, what or when it's the how. I am a software dev, when I create a game (for example) on windows i just fire up my chosen IDE, grab a few assets, build with my chosen engine and release my new game, with Windows and Linux I'm done, I sit back and wait for the scathing reviews and inevitable bankruptcy from trying to keep the servers up...now with apple, before I release I have to recompile my code for their platform, no biggie but wait I can't use my 100+ core build farm for it....I need a Mac to be part of the build process which slows things down a bit, I also have to pay apple for a licence for permission to have the option to publish to their platform, I have to consistently re-release to avoid being delisted and now apple is directly part of my build schedule because when they change something I have to react as they are constantly deprecating libraries that I may have used, breaking my game.

    The actual dollar cost of publishing to apple is negligible, but annoying that it is there, however the ongoing maintainance costs for developing for their platform is basically unsustainable for anyone but the biggest dev houses...and at that scale there just aren't enough gamers on mac to justify the cost.

    It's actually not, the problem is that it's at the VERY high end. It's priced inline with Snap On and probably competes on quality, but the snap on has that sweet sweet warranty.

    The numbers method is the way to go.

    Assign each item in the game a value.

    Rock = 0
    Paper = 1
    Scissors = 2

    The calculation is:

    result = P1 - P2
    If result < 0 add 3

    If result = 0 its a draw
    If result = 1 P1 wins
    If result = 2 P2 wins

    The math works, and its simple code the last 3 should be a switch/case statement.

    There is an issue with this. There are very few (if any) decent cost effective 2.5/10gb routers available for consumers. That means you will still be stuck with 1gb speeds unless you upgrade your internal network with expensive hardware to support higher speeds. I worked out the cost for me to do it would pay for an individual 1gb fiber connection to each of my 3 machines for 3 years, at which point something newer and better will be out that will solve the issue in a different way, usually requiring more investment.

    It's only worth it in a commercial environment that has the need for higher capacity...at the moment.
