  1. Hey everyone, I am wanting to build a custom loop, and just want ting some second opinions on the component's I was thinking of using. The only only thing I plan on cooling at first is the CPU, but will add more to the loop as the items become more readily available. The PC tower I have is the Xigmatek Elysium, which has plenty of room, and is a phenomenal case. Now to make sure I have the upper hand for future add-ons, here is the few items I was going to start with. 1. 360mm x 30mm Aluminum w/ Copper Core Radiator 2. Monsoon Series Dual Bay Reservoir with D5 Pump 3. MSC Resident Evil Intel 115x CPU RGB block 4. PETG 14mm Hard Tubing Now this is just to get started, and will add more as time goes on.
  2. Hello everyone, Please forgive me if this question has been asked before... My question is... Is there any options available to get an ASUS ROG Z370-F RGD lighting to sync with the RGB on the Gigabyte RX 570 VC? Thanks
  3. II like the OP's question... He raises a very good debate topic...lol Now some of you are shouting NO NO NO... while others, are IDK, and the rest of us are like Hmmm I wonder...lol Well the only true way to know for sure is for someone to actually say what the hell, let's try it and find out.. I saw that someone had mentioned boiling point... Which gave me an idea as well. If it's temps, boiling points, and effectiveness of the fluid we are using in the set-up, there are a couple really effective options with a boiling point a lot higher than water. One such fluid we use every day if we drive a car.. NO it is NOT Ant-Freeze...lol It's a fluid with a very high boiling point, and it's used to save peoples lives... This fluid is "Dot 3 Brake Fluid"... Which does work a lot better than water would in the applications we use it for. So to go along with the Op's idea of trying something new.... Could it possibly work? Why wouldn't it work? What would be the long term effects if any?
  4. Your assumption of the boiling point being lower in alcohol than that of water is a valid point.... However... If he assures that all hose connections don't leak, and that the unit is properly bled of all air bubbles, therefore making it a sealed system. In a sealed system, the boiling point is marginal, and he wouldn't have to worry about vapor unless he did have a leak somewhere. You mentioned antifreeze... Now that doesn't work for PC cooling because a few different reasons, but the main one is in the name...lmao Automobile type ANTI-FREEZE is designed for 1 purpose and 1 purpose only... Any guesses? So it could be possible to use Vodka, but we have no basis for comparison.
  5. You should do some more research... only Beer will spoil due to 2 reasons.... The first would be that the alcohol content isn't high enough to keep the fluid sterile, the other reason is due to the barley. Vodka wouldn't spoil because of 1 major reason.. Any guesses? Very good class... It's high alcohol content...lol Now as for the longevity of using Vodka in a flexible line.. I agree that eventually the hose will get dried out and brittle from the alcohol in the Vodka, but with a hard plastic tube, that should last a very long while. Any guesses as to why? That's absolutely right class... If we were worried about the alcohol breaking down a hard plastic, then we wouldn't store it in plastic bottles at Liquor stores, bars, hotels, or airplane mini-fridges....etc...rofl Which means... yes you can use Vodka as the coolant in your system, if you plan on running hard plastic lines. As far as it cooling any better or not... that is yet to be determined, but would make for a very good high school science project...lol
  6. Am I to assume you have a PHD or Doctorate in the English language? Are you going to ground me from the Halloween dance for not being more specific with my words dad? When did we nominate you as the forum's language expert / hall monitor?
  7. Your better off getting one now. Can get a very nice 32 inch Vizio at your local Wal-Mart for right at $150 give or take a couple bucks. I just got my 4K 70 inch Vizio for $600 about 4 weeks ago. On Black Friday they make the really low end brands and outdated models the door busters, and raise the prices on the better brands by 10-20%. I worked at a Radio Shack for a few yrs, and that's what they would do for those types of specials.
  8. Your welcome to leave anytime you want bro... for your information...I wasn't bashing him for his selection or AMD... We all get electronics that don't work every once in a while, and I use AMD products myself.... So excuse me for not being more specific... I was implying that he take it back to where he purchased it, and get an exchange. If anything he could call the store and double check if they would at least look into what the issue could be. Next time I will make my response completely specific for everyone to understand. Is that ok with your dad?
  9. Hey everyone, I have the ASUS ROG Strix Z370-f MB with an Intel i5 8600k & an Radeon RX 570 GC... besides being my media center for movies & music.. play Star Trek Online, and some older games like Civilization 4, Sim City 4, and Alice The Madness... Would there be any benefits to overclocking the proc and GC at all? Thanks.
  10. I had an X79 Sabertooth for the past 6 years... So I don't understand where your getting the "having to get new stuff every 2 years" from... Now there is one product that is being forced on all of us.. and it's not just one company forcing it anymore..all the PC parts companies are forcing it on us now as well... and that is horrible Windows 10.... Microsoft tried to be sneaky about it when it came out, and if you buy any new hardware, those companies are not really leaving us much choice in the matter either.
  11. I suggest ditch the AMD Ryzen board and proc... and just ask for the Intel equivalent. Less of a headache..lol
  12. You can update to Win 10 without any issues. Just install the latest driver you have or use the auto detect tool to update the video card. As far as certain videos crashing... Install K-Lite Codec pack, and that should cure the uncommon video formats that are crashing.
  13. Yes... It most definitely sounds like you need to do a bios update. On Gigabyte boards, you can open the bios, and upgrade from there. Bios updating s really easy now days. After you flash the bios, let us know if that resolves your issue or not.
