  1. Thanks, great help Had to use this site instead (https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/how-to/pc-components/how-set-default-graphics-card-3612668/) as the other one seemed like it was created for a specific software (serato). Test results on laptop: Sky Diver Graphics: 14496 Physics: 8090 Max fps: 135.17 Going to run again after some system tweaking. Running on main pc shortly. Thanks again
  2. Couldn't find a setting in 3DMARK to change which GPU it tests.
  3. Hi Guys, So my laptop has something in it which only uses the base intel graphics (Intel HD 530) for simple tasks, and only switches to the NVIDIA (GeForce GTX 960M) graphics chip when it wants to. I bought 3DMARK. Ran it on the laptop. Getting around 9fps! I assume that's because of the above 'feature'. Or, my i7 MSI Gaming laptop is just shit! So, how would i go about letting 3DMARK run the NVIDIA graphics, not the intel chip? Laptop is the MSI GE72 6QC APACHE. Official Website > https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GE72-6QC-Apache.html#hero-overview Benchmark Results: Time Spy Extreme: (Warned me that my hardware might not run it): Graphics Score: 492 CPU Score: 1388 Thanks, Dragonfyr
  4. That just means CPU will probably matter even less for gaming Brilliant! Haha! AM4 should get new CPUs until 2020. That means that if you buy a Ryzen CPU right now you'll be able to upgrade to a newer CPU in the future without upgrading the motherboard. That sounds good. AMD is my prefered option and that just seals the deal. CPUs are progressing faster with multi core performance now, so it's possible in a few years your CPU will be a bit behind. Upgrading my setup once every 3 years is where I'd like to be. So that's fine. So it sounds like streaming is a bigger priority than Adobe, correct? In that case I'd be inclined to recommend Ryzen. I do like to stream, I average about 1 viewer, which might be me. Dunno lol Yea, i'd say Streaming is preferred. But obviously, I need a decent enough PC to handle all my requirements in PS. My current pc seems to handle that fine, so an upgrade will be just as suffiant. To be honest, I think that seals it for me. I'm pretty sure (99%) that the 2700X will be my choice. Thank you for all your help, @DocSwag. Sorry for delay in replying, was trying to compute all this information, haha! Dragonfyr
  5. At first il be using my current gpu (Gigabyte Aorus GeForce GTX 1060 Xtreme Edition 6144MB GDDR5) untill I am able to afford a 1080 ti. That make any difference? As for CPU. 1) The R5 2600... head is so battered 2) I've also heard that I can upgrade the AM4 socket when AMD bring out anything else (which they're meant to?) I don't know. This has got me so confused now. AMD / Intel / £130 cpu / £350 CPU / £400 CPU / £160 CPU, Ryzen for this, this for multitasking, this for gaming. Man, when i chose my current AMD 8350FX, I thought it was the best there was, but I quickly saw it fall out of the top ranks! Am I about to make the same mistake...! Current spec: Keeping everything in bold. -- Screen1 - Asus VG248 Digital 3D LCD.-- Screen2 - Dell 17" Wide Screen LCD.-- Screen3 - Dell 17" Wide Screen LCD.-- Gigabyte Aorus GeForce GTX 1060 Xtreme Edition 6144MB GDDR5 (Changing to a 1080 ti, eventually). -- PSU - 860W Corsair AX860 Full Modular.-- CASE - CM Storm Trooper Gaming Windowed Case. (Might change case, possibly Cosmos C700P)-- HDD1 - Crucial 240GB M500 SATA 6Gb/s 2.5".-- HDD2 - WD 3 TB 3.5-inch Internal Hard Drive - Black Edition.-- HDD3 - External 1TB Western Digital Drive.-- HDD4 - Internal WD Black Edition 2TB Sata Drive.-- HDD5 - External WD Passport 4TB.-- M - Razer Mamba Elite.-- KB - Cougar 200k.-- HS - Corsair Void Surround.-- SOUND SYSTEM - Marantz SR390 Amp.--- Wharfedale Custom sprayed yellow speakers.-- NET - Fiber Optic - 73mbps down. 19mbps up. 20ms avg. -- MOBO - Asus Crosshair V Formula Z AMD 990FX.-- CPU - AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8350 Black Edition 4.00GHz.-- RAM - TeamGroup Vulcan RED 16GB PC3-2133MHz.-- CPU Cooler - Noctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator X6 (This compatible for an AM4 socket? Or just buy a new cooler?) I keep looking at this reply, thinking it's too much to post to someone on here. But I am so genuinly confused. I just want a nice looking RGB system that can play 4k games and stream to 2 hosts at the same time (OBS > Twitch > YouTube). Occasionally use Photoshop and Lightroom on. And more rarely use Premiere. Sorry, @DocSwag
  6. Great reply, thank you. So what would be the best Intel CPU for 4k gaming with say, Battlefield V. And everything else i listed? I don't ask much Also, curious, are you an AMD or Intel user? Thanks
  7. Not asking for info on a plate here, I don't mind researching this. But would you happen to have or able to point me in the right direction for information relating to work load / gaming / requirements for cpu choices? Or anyone else, feel free to link info. Thanks
  8. I do occasional Premiere work, saying that, the last video i did was a 4k video.
  9. Head = Blown. haha! Sorry to all, i'm also in the middle of teaching myself Python, so head is a bit batterred. Specially as i thought i had figured out which cpu to buy!
  10. I do like Gaming (Mainly slow pace game, cities skylines (which i know can be cpu intensive), or BF1 / BFV). But I also love to watch movies on my pc, and, i occasionally use Lightroom and Photoshop. Man, my head is about to explode. I've spent ages trying to find the best cpu for my build! :@ Thank you though, appreciate it.
  11. Hold up, you would choose an intel i5 over an ryzen 7? Surey more cost = better performance? (Possibly a naive perspective) Edit: I mean 'I, myself might have that naive perspective'. Incase anyone thought I meant anyone else. It is the interweb!
  12. Ok. I get you. Thanks for that. May I ask, why a 2600 and not a 2700X?
  13. Ahh, ok, So a 2400G or 2200G would be better for a gaming rig than a 2700X? You sure? @DocSwag
  14. So in this video Linus mentions using a Ryzen 5 2400G, on his test bench. As someone looking into buying a Ryzen 7 2700X, for a new gaming build, am i missing something? I mean, why would Linus (who uses the best of tech items) be using a lower graded processor? Thanks, Dragonfyr
  15. Thank you all for the replies. I will give some of those games a go and post back with results (But not minecraft lol) (and when i get time). Ironically, when i said i have a lot of spare time, well that changed lol! But yea, thank you all once again, i really do appreciate it. Dragonfyr
  16. Hi there, Idle temps for that processor should be around 30c. Gaming temps around 60c are ok. (With a stock cooler). But if you want to get the best out of your pc then consider the following: -- Software. Go through system processes, make sure they're all running as they should. Consider disabling background processes. Make sure the correct and up to date drivers / software is installed for your hardware. -- Hardware. Fans are cleaned of dust build up. Fans are correctly positioned to direct air the right way in / out. If CPU is old, consider repasting it. Or if you have already done that, check to see if the thermal compound is equally spread. Same for GPU. It might help resource. Clean out entire pc. Remove everything from the case and clean it appropriately. Thanks, Dragonfyr
  17. Hi there, If it was me I'd try the following: Change password to something really simple (like, Password123). Clear browser cache. Use CCleaner to give it a good clean. Then clear browsing history from the browsers internal settings. Then restart you pc (for the hell of it). Try and log in again. If it still doesn't work, try from another device. Google the problem. You'd be surprised how many would have had the same issue. Ask on Steam forums. Contact Steam directly. Good luck Dragonfyr
  18. Hi Guys n Girls, I need help. I'm looking for a new game to get into, but i'm really picky. So il break this down.. Games i've played a lot of: (In order of most played - Top = Most): - World of Warcraft (Horde - Hunter - Over 400 days played since launch. Raid Leader, Class Leader, Guild Master). - Battlefield 1 (I'm the one who sits in a tank with a high k/dr). - Anno 1404: Venice (It's good to build up, but not to start all over again). - Cities: Skylines. - GTAV. - Sim City 4k. - Angry Birds - Play this a lot recently, slowly losing the will to live lol. - Burnout Paradise - The Turing Test. Completed it. But not sure it's my thing. What i'm currently looking for in a game: (Top being more important): - Something where I can build on. Where I can log on, contribute towards my character / profile. (e.g. Used to spend several hours a day mining in Warcraft). - Decent / Modern Graphics. (I love old games like Zool, Cannon Fodder, C&C etc, but now into shiny new games). - HUGE maps. I love games that have large maps. - Strategy games. - Futuristic is nice, but not a must. - Using the ASDW keys or just the mouse if i get bored. - Not bothered about story lines. - I like games with decent A.i, but not when it's brutal. Games i'm considering playing: EvE Online - Played a little before but it seemed like a big learning curve. Star Citizen - Have the impression that SC is a 'pay to play' game. And that there isn't enough content to keep me occupied (?). Games that I don't want to play: - Dota. Don't really think i'd get into it. - ARK. Brother plays this, it's ok, but not for me. - I have the following games, i've played them, but not loads. Skyrim, The Witcher: WH, Euro Truck Simulator, No Man's Sky and Deus Ex HR. I'm on both Steam and Origin Premium. Side note of things i'm into at the moment: - Watching LMG videos. Not just saying that cause i'm on the LTT forum. I'm realy enjoying them at the mo. (Dennis cracks me up lol). - Watching Strange Parts on YT. Love to watch Scotty talking about electronics, factory tours etc. - Electronics. Learning how to repair tablets / mobiles. - I also love to watch Joe Robinet episodes on YT. (Bushcrafter / Camping etc). - I love to fly my drone (Mavic Pro). - I do have a fair amount of spare time. I have a decent enough PC (spec is on my profile) and i'm looking into building a new rig. So spec isn't any issue. Suppose I could have just asked if anyone knows a good strat game? but wheres the fun in that, and, it took me away from f*ckin Angry Birds! lol Thanks, Dragonfyr Edit: Off to sleep now so il check this later.
  19. Been looking at the Ryzen 7 2700X Gen2. Think that would do everything i want to do. I know it's a bit more expensive than the other processors, but it is AM4, so i'd still have the oppertunity to upgrade later on
  20. Is that different to the Ryzen 5 2600 / Ryzen 7 2700X that we've spoke of?
  21. Ok, comparing them all now. Then going to look at a mobo / ram... lol! Thank you for your help, greatly appreciate it.
  22. Still a big price difference between the Ryzen 5 2600 and the Ryzen 7 2700X. Comparing them now. Yes, just a hobby. Have a good viewer base of about 1. Which might be me. I just like to stream
