  1. Just as the title says. It idles at about 40c but when I do simple things like opening a browser is shoots up to almost 60c then quickly cools down when the browser is open. Even when playing a simple game like Valorant I'm seeing temps in excess of 75c to 80c. I have a coolermaster ml120l v2 as my cooler and a coolermaster q300l with the most fans I could fit.. My airflow is great, and my cooler is rated up to 185w tdp so I shouldn't be seeing these temps. I've reapplied the thermal paste three times. I even tried the stock cooler it comes with, but that only made it worse. Does anyone know what the issue might be? Would undervolting it help?
  2. Hi, Im a cad designer looking for a laptop $1000. I will be using it for Solidworks (flow simulation, ect.). I need a number pad, 15in screen max, a dedicated gpu (or high end apu, vega 8/11 graphics), and 16gb of ram. Looking around I've found a few that work: Acer Nitro 5 on newegg - The issue with this one is its size and the colors, something more muted wont bring as much attention to me in a work environment. ASUS rog G531GT-BI7N6 on Amazon - The issue with this one is the missing number pad, which is essential to my work. The colors aren't as bad because I can just turn them off. Other than these I've been having trouble finding any that fit my needs. I know With the laptop being such a small size number pads are hard to fit, but if the acer aspire 5 can do so can others.
  3. So, I know that the 2600k has been out for a long time, but it can still pump out enough performance so I don't want to upgrade. I have it oc'd to 4.43ghz but my gt 1030 @1610gpu 6596mem just doesn't cut it. Does anyone have experience with the rx 570 4 or 8gb, as that is the GPU I'm leaning towards getting. Is there a better option for my processor? Or am I screwed?
  4. Ok, thanks. I've been looking at 4 fans, just wanted to know if 2 fans where possible.
  5. Seems fine to me... although, why not get the 2070? Might be a more price oriented option.
  6. Anyone know the best 2 fan setup for this case? The gpu will be an rx 580 and the cpu cooler will be the hyper 212 evo.
  7. I have a gt 1030 right now but I have the Aorus engine installed, do I need to uninstall the Aorus engine before getting MSI Afterburner? Or will it even work with my Gigabyte card?
  8. I'm in the market for a used rx 580, should I get a 4gb or 8gb. The 4gb is usually $20-$40 less than the 8gb models. It the price difference worth it?
  9. So, I made a bet with my dad about if overclocking can get me higher fps in-game. I think that my gpu being a gt 1030 OC might be a limitation but I am seeing lower fps in some parts of my r6s benchmark and higher in others both before and after the overclock. I believe this is due to the heat being 19%ish hotter, is this my only problem or is my gpu also limiting it? Before OC: After OC: Sorry if they are a bit big... And I know I haven't activated windows, I'm cheap.
  10. Is there any other GPU that y'all would suggest for the i7-2600k? This is ignoring costs entirely.
  11. So if im understanding you, I shouldnt get a 970? I should get tge 570 because it's cheaper?
  12. I dunno, I just figured id do it to save unnecessary heat. I dont have to. So, no 960 or 560.
  13. Update: Looks like the rx 580 wwuld be good for my cpu's current clock. I dont care about turning down the clock, it could probably benefit from going down heat wise. The rx 570 will require me to turn down the clock speed. (Probably the same for the gtx 970). Will also be cheaper. So what about the gtx 960 and rx 560?
  14. So, your saying that taking the clock on my i7 down to 3.8ghz would be better for an rx 570?
  15. Hello, Ive been looking to get a new gpu for my rig, I have an i7-2600k overclocked to 4.43ghz, 32gb of ddr3 ram. My current gpu is a gt 1030 gddr5 by gigabyte. Im looking to get a new gpu around the $100 range for costant 60fps in games like Apex and Overwatch. Im open to suggestions but im leaning towards a gtx 970/rx570 or a gtx 960/rx560. I dont have a preferences (amd/nvidia) as all the gpu's (from what I understand) have decent driver support and relative clock speed. Read my updated summary ~8 comments down.
  16. Hello, I just got a new motherboard without any Wi-Fi capabilities as it is a bit older. I am now in search in the best Wi-Fi adapter whether its USB 2.0/3.0 or PCIE. I found a few, but I am worried that with the 36 ft ( 6ft being almost solid wood) they will not have a good connection even on my 2.4ghz network. Here are the links to the ones that I have found on amazon: PCIE: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016K0896K/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071NZ6DL9/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=A22JOEKCFS25T0&psc=1 USB 2.0/3.0: https://www.amazon.com/EDUP-ac600Mbps-Wireless-External-10-6-10-13/dp/B01CCMUN8C/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=usb+wifi+adapter&qid=1548022875&s=Electronics&sr=1-3 https://www.amazon.com/ZTESY-Adapter-ac600Mbps,Wireless-Network-OS10-6-10-13/dp/B07HK5CJ45/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=usb+wifi+adapter&qid=1548022893&s=Electronics&sr=1-1 For the USB I have a Raspberry Pi that I can use to take it closer to my router, that would take the 6ft off wood in between my computer and router away. Although I do feel like the PCIE Wi-Fi adapters will last longer. And cable connection is not an option.
  17. Hello, I recently came up with the money to purchase major upgrades for my computer. This includes all. Major components like the GPU, CPU, motherboard, ram, and PSU. I want to use my old hard drive with it as it has my work files. Will windows 10 deactivate if I use it again?
