Would you personally recommend setting up a custom fan curve, or do you think this behavior is fine and won't cause issues or decrease the lifespan of the fans?

So I just noticed that the fans on my ASUS Strix 1080 Ti are behaving weirdly. It seems whenever the graphics card gets around a certain temperature (Like 50-55 celcius or something) the fans keep turning on and off. I noticed this while playing League of Legends. What is weird though, is that the 3 fans don't seem to be working in sync with each other. They turn off and on individually at different times, even with 1 always running and the other 2 turning on/off. I know about the 0dB fan mode, but I would just like to confirm if this is normal behavior for each of the fans to turn/off and on regularly and individually around that temperature threshold rather than all at once?

I am marking this thread as solved. I couldn't bare worrying that something might be wrong with my power supply, even know I had been told clearly by those who clearly know more than me about it that it is fine. I ended up getting a replacement, and low and behold it has the exact same sound. Lesson learned, listen to what you're told and don't always give in to anxiety haha. Thought it would be worth me sharing my experience just in the case someone else has a similar concern as well. It's normal, just like I was told!

Okay, that's relieving. I didn't notice it on the older version of the power supply I had, so I got a bit worried. Thank you. Thank you for clarifying, has given me a strong sense of relief. And yes, I get very paranoid about this sort of stuff. I am diagnosed with OCD so that is probably why.

I can confirm that I definitely did notice a completely different internal with the older one I had. This may be the reason for the new sound I have noticed. Was just hoping I could get some clarification on it, perhaps someone else has a similar model.

So I just got a new replacement Corsair RM 650x power supply which seems to be working completely fine, apart from this strange sound I am noticing when turning the PC on or shutting it down. The best way to describe it is like a switch inside the power supply switching on/off accordingly. I am not touching the actual power supply switch, so I am not sure what this is. Could someone please clarify for me whether this is normal or not? I have attached a couple of videos of the sound when turning on the PC and turning it off. So just to confirm, it is normal then? The main reason I am worried is because I don't recall noticing this prior to recently. But with that, I am not 100% sure. I just feel as though I would have noticed in the past. And I have been turning it off every night by the switch because I was not aware of the BIOS setting for the RGB lighting. Since yesterday I will now only shut it down regularly every day without switching the power supply off. So that is not a worry no more. So now it's just me worrying about this crackling and whether or not the continuous switching of it somehow wore it down and caused this.

Because I was stupid and didn’t know about a simple BIOS setting, for the past year I have been switching my PC off by the power supply everyday so I don’t see the RGB lighting at night. Recently I have noticed that when I flick the power supply switch off, I hear crackling/static from the switch area. It is more noticeable if I flick the switch slowly, but can still be heard most of the time. I don’t know if it has always done this or not, I’ve only just noticed it and I feel as though I would have noticed it earlier if it had always been like this. Is it possible that I have worn down the switch from using it so often over the past year? Or is this normal? I am considering submitting an RMA for it for a replacement, but am not sure if I even need to do that. The power supply is a Corsair RM650X Gold by the way. Any help would be much appreciated. Just an update in regards to the stutter when loading Facebook. It seems to only happen if there is a video at the top of the feed and it starts to play automatically. Around this time, it stutters for a split second. If there are no videos at the top and instead just photos, the stutter does not occur. I have tried turning hardware acceleration off in Google Chrome, but it did not resolve this issue.

I just found another way to reproduce the stutter. Simply by loading my Facebook feed and moving my mouse around as it loads in, after a couple of seconds of the feed becoming visible a stutter occurs. I have checked the event log and cannot see any issues in there.

It is an ASUS card and I don't use any software or tools for the graphics card so that wouldn't be an issue. As for the HPET option, I checked your guide and found that the option isn't showing on my computer, so I don't think it has that option. So I monitored my GPU speeds and temperatures and couldn't see any issues or changes when the stuttering occurs, though I will continue to monitor it just to be sure. I did perform a stress test on the graphics card and my computer ran fine with no crashes or noticeable issues, so that is just another reason that is leaving me confused as to the cause of this problem. You stated some raytracing features were backported around this time. Is there some way I can disable these features or something? I notice these stutters when I am not playing any games, so I'm not sure how else I can ensure it is not caused by an issue with the graphics card.

Exhausting myself of ideas at this point. Have brought this up here before on the Linus Tech Tips Discord and have received help from other uses which I very much appreciate. But I am still experiencing the same issue so just want to see if anyone else has any ideas. For several months now I've been experiencing completely random stutters which I notice as my cursor freezes and jumps ahead slightly for a split second of time. Any audio that is playing is not affected at all, I just notice it from my screen. It seems to occur while running any program, I even notice it on the Windows 10 login screen occasionally when I start my computer up and move my cursor before typing in my password. Other times it's on Google Chrome browsing Facebook, on Discord, etc. Weird thing is I can reproduce the exact same sort of stutter simply by launching the Netflix app, or loading Netflix in my browser. It might be when some sort of network activity occurs, but I am not entirely sure. I noticed that if I turn my second monitor off, the stutter does not occur at all, or at least not as bad. I have tried everything. Updating BIOS and all drivers, monitoring hardware load and temperatures, stress testing, reinstalling Windows... etc. I did notice that rolling back to Nvidia graphics driver v419.17 seems to stop the stuttering completely or to a degree where I don't notice it, which is quite strange. It is also worth noting that this computer is less than a year old, with all brand new high end components, so I didn't expect this sort of thing to happen. I would very much appreciate any assistance. If anyone has any questions for me to help understand the issue, please let me know. So it's because of my high download speeds that is causing it? Is there anything I can do to fix it or is this normal behavior?

In what way exactly? I have probably the best most stable internet I can get in Australia.

So I have noticed that my PC has been experiencing performance issues when I download. For example, today I was in a competitive game of CS:GO, and I was downloading an update for Fortnite. My friends were also doing the exact same thing, with no issues and less powerful PCs. My problem is I was noticing frequent FPS drops and an unstable and laggy feel to CS:GO. Pausing my download stopped this lag, so it is definitely related to that. As to the exact cause, I have no idea. Both games are on different SSDs, my CPU usage didn't go any higher than 80% and my CPU temperature didn't go above 80 degrees Celsius. I did notice the CPU turbo speed was dipping from it's max of 4.30Ghz though I assumed this is normal with how turbo works for a locked processor. Anyways... I am worried because I have noticed occasional PC freezes lately, both in games and on the desktop. I am not aware of any changes I have made, and have tried everything to fix it. The past couple of weeks I have noticed that every now and then my mouse will lag and stutter for a split second or so not for very long but definitely noticeable (happens anywhere, desktop, browser, games). I am not sure why this is happening , as I haven't installed anything or made any changes that I know of that would cause this. I am not 100% sure whether it is just my mouse that lags or the whole screen, as I am unable to reproduce it on demand, it just happens. I have tried many things to see if it fixes it, but I just haven't managed to figure out what the cause is. Things that I have tried: Reinstalling graphics driver (with DDU) Reinstalling mouse drivers Monitoring resource usages for spikes (none seem to occur during the stutters) Monitoring hardware temperatures (no heating issues noticed) Updating BIOS and all outdated drivers Cleaning out mouse sensor from dust Scanning for malware I have a high end PC, with an Intel i7 8700, GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB of RAM etc. The mouse I am using is a Razer DeathAdder Elite. If anyone has any suggestions on what I can do to try and identify the issue, please let me know.

What about power limits for the CPU? Because I'm getting power throttled with turbo speeds at whatever my motherboard has set the power limits to.

What voltage to you run on your CPU? And did you adjust any of your power limits?

Yes, I double checked and it still seems to be applied correctly. It is around 6 inches or so from the back of the desk, so it probably would be possible it is recycling some warm air. This location has been the same since I got my PC, so around 6 months. I checked last night and it turned out it was quite dusty, especially on the intake fan filters so I gave them all a clean and it seems the temperature has dropped slightly by a few degrees, but nothing major. If I raise the power limits, will this increase my temperature by much? I am a bit worried about doing this. Why is it so low in the first place anyways, I thought it would be set to a limit that can at least sustain it's max turbo speed. 1. It has the default fan setup of the NZXT H700. 3 intake fans at the front, with 1 exhaust at the back. 2. Really? I chose 1.2V because I found someone said to set it to that. But if it can be set to 1.1V, I would definitely be willing to try that. I don't know much about adapative mode and how I should set that up, I heard that it can tend to use a higher voltage than what is set though, so I am a bit worried about that. 3. I considered this when I reinstalled the cooler after I first got the PC and the PC Shop had installed it. I was worried it was not installed correctly as I was getting the same temperatures, so I did it myself and got the same sort of temperatures. I have already tried reinstalling the cooler, but I got no better temperatures than what they were with the PC Shop's install of it.

So I have owned my PC for around 6 months or so now, but have just been so worried about my CPU temperatures and performance the whole time. I previously created a thread about this but I kinda just got mixed responses and I have since tried the suggestions but still have concerns. PC Specs: Case: NZXT H700 Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z370-F Gaming CPU: Intel Core i7 8700 CPU Cooler: Cryorig H7 So one of my problems is the temperatures just seem too high. These are the average temperatures I get: Cold Boot BIOS Temperature: 35 degrees celcius Idle Temperature: 40-45 degrees celcius Gaming Temperature: 65-80 degrees celcius Full Load / Stress Test Temperature: 80-90 degrees celcius I have attached a photo of the location of my PC, which is under my desk and fairly enclosed. I am not sure how much this would affect the airflow of my PC, and overall the temperature. When I first got my PC I manually set my CPU Core voltage to 1.2V as it was automatically setting it to almost 1.4V which is ridiculously high. I am unsure if this is related to temperature, or my BIOS power settings for the CPU, but I noticed during stress tests I get power throttling. Also, I noticed when gaming and stress testing, my CPU turbo speed dips below the usual 4.28 GHz max speed that I usually get. I don't understand why it can't maintain a stable max turbo speed. So overall, the temperature issue, power throttling and turbo speed reduction are the issues that are concerning me. Could someone please give me some advice on what I should do? Thanks in advance.

Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti.

With my new monitor, the Acer Predator XB241H, I have been noticing a few issues whenever I have GSync enabled. The first issue is on certain colors, or with certain programs/games open, I notice an occasional dithering effect. There will be tiny little light crosses on patches of pixels across the screen. This pattern will appear and disappear, and isn't extremely noticeable, but if you look carefully you can definitely see it. The other issue is light flickering. Again, on certain colors and programs, the screen, or the brightness will slightly flicker a bit. The screen doesn't flicker off, it just looks like the brightness is quickly flickering brighter and then back to normal. Considering this is the main feature of the monitor and why it was so exspensive, I should not have to turn GSync off to fix this issue. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Reinstalling my graphics drivers? Something else? Thanks in advance.
