  1. Yeah I completely agree with you on both points. The MSI X470 gaming plus has I guess decent temps and better VRM heatsinks that ASUS Prime motherboards which is just a light piece of Aluminium with little surface area. I guess not cheaping out on a mobo is better. It'll most likely ensure better power delivery + the extra ports which is a bonus (Though no USB type C but this isn't a deal breaker.)
  2. Yeah I was just having a discussion on how I might have to use an aftermarket cooler with 2600. Instead I could buy a 2600X and use the better stock cooler for cheaper than 2600 + aftermarket cooler. So that's why X470 since I'd also be using an X variant chip.
  3. Yeah. I just think that it's best not to cheap out from buying an X470 board since I will be relying on the auto OC features.
  4. Do you think its worth spending on the X variant. Get a better cooler and chip and the same time and use the stock cooler wraith spire then. I think buying the 2600X and getting spire would be a better deal than the 2600 + aftermarket cooler.
  5. Yeah he specifically got a 2600. I'm willing to buy a cooler. Which one should I go for. I've heard 212 is trash from lots of people. I would have got for the X variant but yeah I doubt the difference would be huge so I chose 2600. Anyway which is a good budget cooler?
  6. Do you think if I go down to a B450 I would be reducing the auto OC potential by any means?
  7. Yeah we just had a debate on a discord where everyone suggested I use the stock cooler. Like I said one guy achieved 4.1Ghz on a stock cooler. That's why I chose not to buy a cooler. Idk honestly I'm getting different opinions everywhere.

Here are my lines of thought: 1) I initially thought of going with Ryzen 5 2600X but I thought that the 100Mhz is going to have a really small difference and hence I went down to 2600. I also considered "silicon lottery" to some extent. 2) I initially thought of using an aftermarket cooling solution but people told me that the stock cooler is really good and not worth spending on the cooler. I also know a person who had the X470 gaming plus with a Ryzen 5 2600 and it went up to 4.1Ghz auto OC on stock cooler. 3) I initially thought of using MSI B450 Gaming Plus than the X470 Gaming Plus but I guess the X470 can OC better which is why I chose this. I'm not going to be doing anything extreme with this. Feel free to change my thoughts on this as I can be wrong and this could save me a lot of money. 4) Nvidia GTX 1070 Founders Edition is my only choice if I want a 1070 as the custom cards are ridiculously priced in India. Again I could be wrong anywhere and maybe everywhere and hence I need your thoughts on my build because there is a possible room for improvement. Thank you for your time.
  9. I heard B450 has precision boost 1 but X470 has precision boost 2. Idk what that means or which is better.
  10. Hi guys I'm a first time builder building with a Ryzen 5 2600. I am confused between MSI X470 Gaming Plus and the MSI B450 Gaming Plus. I really want the auto overclocking features like precision boost and stuff and I wanted to know what differences these 2 boards have and will they affect the auto overclocking features. I'm really confused, would appreciate some help. Thanks
  11. Yeah I agree 100Mhz wouldn't matter too much on games. But I don't understand why the memory controller has anything to do with this at all. Isn't that RAM related stuff?
  12. Really? But can't the X variant be clocked further?
  13. Yeah with mining in the equation I'm not gonna buy any used cards. I just don't trust anyone at this point.
  14. There is a significant price gap between the 2600 and 2600X. It's just that 2600X has greater OC potential than 2600 which is why I'm gonna use that. Yeah in productivity I guess the 2 cores are gonna help but I'm really just gonna game not video render.
