  1. This is a continuation of an older thread with the same issue as described. https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/898055-black-screen-gpu-fans-at-full-speed-crash-fixed/ I had been having an issue where my system would black screen, the GPU fans would ramp up to 100% and the system would be unresponsive until I flipped the switch on the back of the PSU to turn it off. I tried the fix provided in the link above which was a thermal paste swap on the GPU and it seemed to work. No crashes since September. Yesterday, I picked up two new SSDs and installed them in my system. Games for a few hours in GTA V and boom. It did the same thing. Upon reboot, within 5 minutes it did it again with nothing running. My main theory now is that it's a power supply issue, given that it crashed after the new drives were installed, but I'm looking for outside help because I have no concrete evidence. CPU never exceeds 60 C, GPU never exceeds 65 C. Specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 overclocked at 3.7GHz stable. GPU: MSI GTX 1060 6gb Gaming X, +150mhz on the core clock and +200mhz on the memory clock, seemingly stable. Memory: 16gb Corsair LPX 2400mhz MB: Asus Strix B350F Gaming PSU: Corsair CX550M Storage: 2x Teamgroup L5 480gb SSDs 1x Adata Sp550 120gb SSD 1x Adata SP600 128gb SSD 1x WD Blue 1TB HDD
  2. Did either of your systems hard-lock when the black screen occured? I'm having a very similar issue with my MSI GTX 1060 6GB Gaming X. Middle of a game, black screen and GPU fans ramp up to full. System won't shut down without me flicking the power switch on the back of the PSU.
