  1. So, I recently got a GPU from a friend, after selling mine which worked perfectly, and, when I installed it, everything worked fine at first. It posted and both displays showed up, but, while I was looking up the drivers to install, it just stopped displaying and the fans sped up. I have reset the pc multiple times, managed to install the drivers, have uninstalled the previous drivers, tried different pcie power cables, tried different pcie slots, tried in a different pc with same results, etc. I'm assuming the card is dying or having power delivery issues, but I just wanted to see if you guys had any solutions. PSU is a TX550M gold btw
  2. So, I recently installed a Dark Rock Pro 4, and now my PC is performing worse. Temps are great, cinebench, Heaven Engine, and userbench scores are above average; however, I am encountering fps issues in every game, some worse than others. When reinstalling my gpu, one of the power connectors wasn't pushed in all the way when i turned my pc on causing it to freeze, and another time the pcie clip got stuck, but I was eventually able to push it back freeing my gpu. However, even though my installation wasn't the smoothest, my computer is performing so well in these benchmarks, which makes me assume it is a driver issue maybe? The most notable is in Ori and the Will of the Wisps, which will have tons of frame drops and averages around 180 fps when it was easily above 230 before. All other games are below average by around 20 fps. I DDU my drivers and did a fresh reinstall of windows, which still didn't help. Out of desperation, I updated my bios with no avail. It arguably made it worse cause now my gpu usage is low and my cpu usage is high. My frames are worse in some games more than others now too. I am just so confused because the PC ran flawlessly before I installed the cooler with the same drivers, etc, but now it performs well below what it should be reaching, but then it performs great in benchmarks where the gpu reaches 100% utilization. Any help is much appreciated!
  3. So, I've been having numerous issues w my pc after installing a new cooler. I thought I fixed this one, but it has returned. One of my ssds keeps getting disconnected (I think it is the sata data cable), but event viewer has given me a warning that Disks 1-10 have been surprised removed... I only have 4 disks. What could this issue be? It is kinda annoying.
  4. So, I recently installed a Dark Rock Pro 4, and now my PC is performing worse. Temps are great, cinebench and userbench scores are above average; however, my first userbench run, it deteced my gpu for a second and then lost it. Also, when reinstalling my gpu, one of the power connectors wasn't pushed in all the way when i turned it on causing it to freeze, and another time the pcie clip got stuck, but I was eventually able to push it back freeing my gpu. My installation wasn't the smoothest, but why is my computer performing so well in these benchmarks but not so much in games? The most notable is in Ori and the Will of the Wisps, which will have tons of frame drops and averages around 180 fps when it was easily above 230 before. All other games are below average by around 20 fps. Any help is much appreciated, specs in signature. edit: All drives are up to date as well, triple checked all connectors
  5. Ok, this might be the issue causing the decrease in performance, but I haven't been able to isolate it enough to determine it
  6. Also, another weird thing that has been happening is one of my ssds will be surprised removed. Doesn't happen during anything specific, it will just randomly disconnect.
  7. between those two, i would get the 3700x, but I would wait for zen 3 to release first
  8. I replaced a Deepcool - GAMMAXX 300 R, and I used the thermal paste included with the pro 4
  9. Ok, so, I recently installed the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4, and, while my temps are great, my pc is performing worse. I first noticed this when running cinebench r20, and my score decreased by around 100-150 points. I just recently started playing Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and there are frequent frame drops happening, and I am avergaing 180 fps where before it was always over 225. I am thinking I might've messed up something on either my motherboard or gpu, but just wanted to ask here first before doing anything unnecessary.
  10. if you dont know why you need an x570, get a b550
  11. Since they're 500w, yes, they all in theory can support it, but the quality of some of those is not good. See how they rank on this list
  12. the 3800x is not worth the extra money compared to the 3700x in my opinion. As for deciding between the 3700x and 3900x, it mostly comes down to your budget, and what you're gonna do w the pc. Both are great chips, but do you really need the extra power of the 3900x for the increase in price? From what you've listed, I would say it isn't, and you should focus the money on more ram or storage if you're gonna have videos on your computer. There is also the ryzen 4000 series, which is supposed to come out in October, if you can wait for that
  13. not a lot of people would want to watch a 480p stream js. I would save up for better parts if you are looking to get a stremaing PC
  14. you're not wrong lmao, but your guess is as good as mine. I told him to wait, but he said that he doesn't care.
  15. Yea, when the 5700 XT came out, I almost returned it cause of the bad drivers, but they have been doing great now. I'll keep looking at Nvidia though.
  16. Yea but he isn't really someone concerned with money, so it doesn't really matter to him. I'm gonna keep trying to make him wait, but I don't think he will.
  17. Not really lol, I tried telling him to wait, but he's been using a dying laptop and just wants a PC finally.
  18. Thanks for the suggestion! Although I own the 5700xt, I kinda forgot how good it is for the price.
  19. Probably should've mentioned this in the first post, but he doesn't care about waiting for AMD and Nvidia to release their new lineups. It just depends when he gets paid. If their new components come out when he builds it, I'll adjust accordingly.
  20. Budget (including currency): ~$1100 Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly FPS games Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): This is a list I've come up with. If anyone has suggestion, they would be much appreciated. He already bought the case, but i included it in the list anyway. He doesn't really have a set goal with the build, just the best money can buy for around $1100 USD. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GczL3t
  21. amd is making the b450 series compatible w zen 3 as well, while also being far cheaper
  22. you do not need an x570 or that high wattage psu for your build. Get the msi b450 tomohawk max motherboard and then get a 550w gold psu
  23. I think its mainly because cards with fans rather than blowers can run cooler running at higher speeds without being so loud and hot. This is if you want to push the card as far as it can go, but, if not, like me, then its a great card imo, and I enjoy using it
