Are the Vents clear and the fan spinning - check your fan curve (the thing that regulates how hard it spins/blows at a given temp) or clean it out if not. Do you set it onto a a Hard surface (like a desk) when gaming - say a blanket or cushion could trap the heat. Possible Short Term fixes in any case: Undervolting the GPU (less heat, same performance if done in moderation / correctly) Getting one of those Cooling Pads Edit: saw your reply to NZGamer - If all else fails try to reach out for repairs it should still be under warranty

And it may sound silly to even mention it but ... remember to plug your monitor into the GPU and not your mainboard after you install it

Mainboard is one thing you can save a few bucks on imo - you arent taking the highest end CPU and honestly these days unless you do high end overclocking or need specific features you can go with a lower end one... (within reason as in keeping to reputable brands)

I take it your main goal is gaming ? if so - CPU + Mobo + Ram SSD/GTX 980/Case are still good or at least "fine" In your case you could opt for a lower end AM 4 Board + 16 GB DDR4 Ram at 3000+ Mhz and a Ryzen 5 2600 which would make for a great upgrade.

I feel given your 3k budget and falling short you may wanna consider a beefier and nicer PSU given you already ALMOST max out that 550 watt one... There is a nice Thread about PSU's on the Forum here you can check out:

Just looking at the Specs they are about the same (except being 1 db louder and having a higher minimum RPM) I did put those into a System i built for a friend and he seemed to like em and of the 6 in there none have failed or had issues as of yet so go ahead.

It entirely depends on what you wanna do with it if its ALL Gaming you should keep the Intel CPU (or possibly wait and see how the 3000 series Ryzen does for gaming) If you do a lot of other Stuff say Game and Stream it or productivity stuff (outside of adobe products which favour intel) or are looking to shave 100 dollar off the CPU and 150 off the mainboard to buy a decent 1080p card like an RX580 now with that cash you could sacrifice some frames to go with a Ryzen 2700 Other cash saving options to opt for a grpahiccard now: CPU Cooler, Ram down to 16 gig (no difference for gaming really) and a less "nice" case

From a quick look at the List notebookcheck.net has i doubt you find many other options for that price. Most others exclusively offer the i7 cpu paired with it and opt to add a 120 / 144 Hz display (which is really nice) but those ARE more expensive. One consideration is that you may want 16 gb of ram these days...

Known problem with Windows 8/10 - you need the new client from xbox.com and do some troubleshooting - just use google for "gta 4 windows live fix" and you should find some tutorials.

I never found 240 Hz to be a noticeable increase in Fluidity - YES you can tell a difference if they are side by side but not really a big WOW effect like comparing 60 and 100+ Hz is. 1440p however is a nice increase in clarity As Shimejii said before i would look for an IPS panel though - even good TN isnt THAT great and the prices for IPS really have come down in recent months. ^^

Well the Lenovo ones are decent or another alternative that also plays well with Linux are the Dell XPS 13 inch models

What kind of stuff do you wanna run on it - heavy compute applications, gaming or just browsing and netflix ? Also what kind of budget did you have in mind ?
