Mattk13 reacted to emosun in So i have 3 issues help?
that might have been the fastest recommendation for a component i've ever seen without suggesting any other possible issues or fixes or even an explanation

Mattk13 got a reaction from moderategamer in Best luck with this computer yet story
So i got my current computer on April 14th
and i have bad luck with my computers keep in mind i have had lots of pcs that i wreck
and this one was the quote last one i was allowed to get
So when i first got this the specs were
I3 3240
4Gb of ram
250gb hard drive
Intel hd 2500
and after a month i upgraded all of it
i3 3240
8gb of ram
1 ssd 1 250 gb hard drive and 1 320gb hard drive
GT 1030 2G OC
and i was so happy with the performance and its still pretty good to be honest i will probally get a i7 and a 1050ti soon
but i was scared that the computer wouldn't last long as have constantly re-installed windows for no reason at all
but there was a issue where the mother board broke and i had to entirely re build the PC And put a new motherboard in after that.
and it turns out i did not put the cpu in right and 2 out of the 4 rams slots weren't working and i got them working 1 month ago after re-seating the CPU
and now everything works fine the longest i have had a computer is 3 years and my second last one i had was for 6 months and i have had this one for about 8 months going strong
and shes pumping the best it can to give me what i want in performance
(wink wink might have Overclocked my Gpu just a little)

again now i can add my other 2 gb and have 8gb of ram ;D i'm literally crying right now and it fixed alot of other issues too
Stuttering Screen , lag in gta 5 , ram issues , boots quicker ,
This literally fixed all my issues i've had with this computer

Mattk13 reacted to manikyath in Why did my computer survive
my guess is that the power supply (and the fuses in your house wiring) were able to hold the bulk of the spike, but what does happen from time to time is one capacitor somewhere stays charged if your computer shuts down "in an extreme manner" which keeps part of the motherboard in an unintended power state, making it unable to boot back up.
best example of this is some powered usb hubs may lock up the SMC in some macbooks, making them a very expensive brick until you unplug the battery and plug it back in, letting the SMC reset towards a state it should be in.

Mattk13 got a reaction from TopHatProductions115 in Someone help me ram issue
So i had a issue where i had to replace my motherboard about 2-3 months ago and it was working just fine and i deiced to test the 2-4 ram slots i mean the other 2
and when i tried to boot up my pc i got a error code and i reserched it and it said it was the ram so i was like okay... so i tried the same sticks in the 2 other slots and they worked
so the ram is fine but the slots won't work. when ram is in the computer won't post, so i tried flashing the BIOS updating it
didn't work
I tried to mess with the jumpers
didnt work
but today i managed to make the computer boot with the 2 rams sticks in the broke slots but it didn't detect the ram. it said 2.00GB and i was like What......
anyway so i took the ram out and put it back in and it wouldn't boot so i switched the jumpers back and i said screw it and didn't try anything else
What could this be. cause i could have 8gb of ram if my computer didn't do this
and im so confused
