  1. When my Seagate Ironwolf is idle it makes an annoying noise every 10 seconds, from all my googling this is due to "hardware monitors" on my computer doing an initial spin to check the Ironwolfs temperature. I Imagine this is likely MSI Afterburner, Corsair iQue, or Norton Security, all 3 of which I use. The only way I have found to be able to prevent this noise so far is to have 5 instances on VLC running with 5 different 4K videos running and as much as I have an i7 8700k, this is taxing my system however I have no interest listening to that good awful annoying sound when I'm listening to music, surfing the web, or playing games. From what I have also gathered from googling is that disabling "s.m.a.r.t" will completely block anything from monitoring the hard drive however my MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon AC Motherboard doesn't give the option to disable "S.M.A.R.T". Is there anyway to disable smart or prevent the HDD from going into a low power state. I had a similar issue in the past with an MSI R9 280X 6GB graphics card that would cause the picture on the monitor to jump ever 5 to 10 seconds when entering and exiting ULPS (ultra low power state, go figure another power saving feature that annoys the hell out of you) and despite going various forums and getting official firmware updates for it, it was either have it constantly overclock or buying a very specific range of premium power supplies. I hate devices that have power saving features.
  2. Seatools has no such function for disabling extended power conditions. And when clicking on Help > Seatools Help, it comes up with an error message. I also have no "AIDA64" and my Ironwolf keeps making the noise as described above. The only thing it does is give drive information with "SMART" as "Enabled" and I want it "Disabled", and no my MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon AC has no such BIOS option to disable "SMART" hence why I'm here. So on these forums is their an actual Seagate person that knows what they're talking about and how to prevent lower power states.
