  1. What fixes did you try? It's best to list them so we don't waste our time suggesting fixes you've already tried. Anywho, this sounds like a case of corrupt NTFS partition, similar to what's described on the following link. https://askubuntu.com/questions/775579/recovering-broken-or-deleted-ntfs-partitions?noredirect=1&lq=1 I would first try exactly what it says on the tin: connect the drive to a Windows PC and run CHKDSK to repair it. If that doesn't work, you can try the suggestion in the 2nd post on this thread. https://forum.cgsecurity.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=1945 And as always, if the data is super important to you, it's best to clone the ENTIRE disk (all 2000GB worth) to a disk image, then attempt recovery from that using TestDisk or Runtime Software's GetDataBack. (Or take it to a professional if you're not comfortable with that.)
  2. You may need to disable hardware acceleration in whatever web browser you're trying to play videos on the second screen with. This may result in certain video players losing features or failing to play video entirely, but that's up to the streaming service to decide. Also, some video players may not exhibit stuttering at all, while others may become unusable. Twitch's player is one example that regularly borks if I try to watch it on a second display in a web browser with hardware acceleration enabled when gaming on my primary display.
  3. You can use any drive you like so long as you either a) backup important data or b) don't care about the data.
  4. All of the above @Minystreem, though I will say I'm still awaiting government legislation that requires company's spell out their "lifetime" warranty terms in plain English. Some definitely do denote what "lifetime" means in the warranty terms, but far too many still just advertise "limited lifetime warranty" as a selling point in the product's bulleted specification list without actually explaining anything. Tis super frustrating for the average consumer who doesn't have weeks to attempt contacting a company to ask what "lifetime" means.
  5. I used Mouse Without Borders waaaaaay back when it was a Microsoft Garage project - looks like it's built into Microsoft PowerToys now, which is kinda freakin' sweet cause PowerToys has a plethora of other useful features, some of which I'd argue should be damned well built into Windows by now. Anywho. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/mouse-without-borders I've more experience with Symless Synergy though cause it felt more polished back in the day. I did some beta testing for them back when they were on version 1, then eventually bought a perpetual license even though I had almost stopped using it at that point because I believed in what they were creating. https://symless.com/synergy You'll have to play with both to see what works better for your needs though. Glad to point you in the right direction.
  6. You could look into using something like Mouse without Borders or Symless Synergy software if you just want to run both computers side-by-side but only need a singular mouse + keyboard to control both. Would be a half decent way to see how the software networks on the LAN, too.
  7. Oof. Shakey display output would be super distracting to use if that were my computer display. I would try connecting using straight HDMI to HDMI if that's an option, otherwise it's likely time to replace that TV with something newer that doesn't shake.
  8. I'm confused by what you mean when you say "the device recognizes the driver, but the driver settings won't migrate." What driver settings? What are you trying to migrate? Why would the device (the laptop?) need to recognize drivers? Normally when you install a new NVMe SSD, it should be auto-detected in the BIOS and appear in Windows Device Manager.
  9. This is the REAL question that far too few people in society ask themselves before passing judgement. If you're not asking WHY to the point of being annoying, you're not actually understanding how something do be the way that it is. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_whys
  10. BIOS files are usually verified by way of a checksum prior to flashing, but I totally understand. Maybe ask the motherboard manufacturer for advice.
  11. Just because Windows can't copy all of a file's NTFS attributes doesn't mean the file copy failed - it just means any NTFS specific attributes won't copy over to other filesystems that don't support such attributes. https://www.urtech.ca/2017/11/solved-all-ntfs-attributes-defined/
  12. Since you indicate you recently changed hardware, try changing hardware back to what was working before. If games don't crash with the old hardware, this points to either the new CPU or GPU (or both) as the problem, at which point I'd want a refund / replacement for whatever piece of hardware is defective.
  13. Some filesystems, like FAT or FAT32, don't support the same file properties as others, like NTFS, for example. Couldn't tell ya why Windows 10 might not display this prompt when copying files to the same drive as you'd see when copying files from a Windows 11 system to the same drive though. Likely something to do with how Windows 11 handles copying files with extra properties. https://help.smartvault.com/hc/en-us/articles/360051273333-Resolving-the-The-File-file-name-has-properties-that-can-t-be-copied-to-the-new-location-Error
  14. It's likely either a different control board for the backlighting, or the backlighting in / around the LCD panel itself that's bad. Impossible to say without physical access to the TV, and even then, you might end up spending more money buying replacement parts than replacing the TV.
  15. Is there a reason you need to disable the 60Hz office display? Assuming the PC is running Windows 10 / 11, you could just change the Primary Display depending on where you're using the computer, and leave the Taskbar Enabled on All Displays. https://www.elevenforum.com/t/change-main-display-in-windows-11.964/ https://www.howtogeek.com/798281/windows-11-taskbar-hide-multiple-monitors/
  16. Take that one and throw it straight into the bin. Then purchase a known-good name brand adapter like the following: https://www.amazon.ca/TP-Link-UB400-Bluetooth-Controller-Keyboard/dp/B07V1SZCY6/ https://www.amazon.ca/TP-Link-Bluetooth-Receiver-UB500-Controllers/dp/B09DMP6T22/
  17. In addition to the link from @Levent's post, you may wish to start with a Template to learn the ropes of GitLab Pages. https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/user/project/pages/getting_started/pages_new_project_template.html
  18. Only Google's support teams will be able to assist here. I'd be wary of anyone on a public forum who claims to work for Google and/or have a magical fix to restore the channel. I would wait for official assistance whilst investigating the method of compromise.
  19. According to the Prime Video website, both Windows and MacOS devices are limited to HD streaming quality. https://www.primevideo.com/help?nodeId=GUX9FYHU5D8LC9EJ As a working adult, I want to pay content creators for content, but also... Gabe Newell was right over 10 years ago. I'm still patiently awaiting a singular media service that lets me consume media (music, movies, tv shows, etc.) when I want, where I want, how I want, on the devices I want.
  20. Thank you - you did a much better job explaining this than I did. I should have explained it as rotation time being the same, but seek time differing depending on the location of data being read/written on the platters. Superuser does a good job explaining the same too. https://superuser.com/questions/643013/are-partitions-to-the-inner-outer-edge-significantly-faster
  21. The SuperNova G2 series was Tier A, so if this unit is in good working condition and you can get a modular cable set for it, that's not a bad deal. https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/ Also, it's a bomb. Ha! JK JK. I joke. LOL. I think.
  22. While I cannot speak to why your Synology NAS is marking the drive as "Bad" (you'll want to check the logs, or contact Synology for assistance), it's absolutely normal for HDD read/write speeds to slow down as you read/write data to the drive. Why? Because seek times are faster the closer to the centre of the drive platters reverse that - I always get this backwards. Most HDDs, if not all, read from the centre of the platters to the outside edges. Due to the laws of physics, it takes longer for the platters to complete a full rotation the further from the centre you are. (It's the same centrifugal force kids experienced when riding a merry-go-round at the playground - the closer you are to the middle, the less you feel like you're going to fall off.) @tikker did a much better job explaining this below.
  23. Oh, I know - just trying to appease @user_50983's concerns, which I now see seems a wee bit frivolous... From a moral / ethics standpoint, fraud is fraud is fraud, no matter how you slice it. However, the world is not black and white, therefore exceptions exist. At the end of the day, if you notify anyone of a test beforehand, you're tainting the test results in some way. This is why I've yet to tell anyone they're actually just living in the Matrix. Wouldn't want them to find out life is an illusion and time is a weird soup, after all...
  24. Say, you know... your comment... I think it might be a scam. I want a refund at once! /s As someone who owns a Stealth Hoodie, I don't understand where shill comments come from. Is it the "best hoodie in the world (tribute)"? No - I think the indoor hoodie is more comfortable, and I have hoodies from goodwill that feel better, but... is it a scam? Absolutely not. It's a piece of clothing that keeps me warm and has a bunch of "extra" features not found in other hoodies. If it floats your boat, be happy and enjoy it @woodlandgamer!
  25. Probably best to continue the discussion in the thread for the specific video. That said, I kind of agree that such "tests" should ideally be cleared with a select handful of people from upper management who have ZERO ties or responsibility with the company's customer service, fulfillment, support, warranty, etc. departments. That way they'd have approval, but those who gave the approval would have no way to accidentally tamper with the results. As for how feasible this would be ... that's a whole other story entirely.
