Active-state power management (ASPM) is a power management mechanism for PCI Express devices to garner power savings while otherwise in a fully active state. Predominantly, this is achieved through active-state link power management; i.e., the PCI Express serial link is powered down when there is no traffic across it.
L0 – All PCI Express transactions and other operations are enabled.
L0s – A low resume latency, energy saving “standby” state.
L1 – Higher latency, lower power “standby” state (optional).
L0sL1 - Activate both L0s and L1 support.

Summary
 Here's a funny one. An alleged British tank commander and war thunder player leaked classified documents (basically the user manual) on the Challenger 2 MBT so that Gaijin would fix the model on the challenger 2, specifically the gap between the main turret and hull. This is a violation of the Official Secrets Act, and can carry up to a 14 year punishment in prison if persecuted. Much of the document was heavily redacted though, it was still classified information being shared. Unfortunately, since the information is classified, Gaijin now cannot make the changes.

 The information being leaked doesn't seem to be that big of a deal in my opinion, I mean sure its classified, but I highly doubt that foreign powers are going to care about the gap between the turret and hull. For this reason I also doubt the leaker is going to get put in jail or anything. Not an expert in how these things are handled though. Still quite a funny story

This surprisingly isn't the first time Google has lost their domain. Back in 2015, they lost their .com domain to Sanmay Ved who got a nice payout for this occurring. I hope this individual also gets a nice payout from Google. You'd think that for such of a large company, they'd have auto renew on or more eyes to notice these issues.

They're calling it Scheduled Takedown Notices and once a claimant files one the recipient has 7 days to respond before automatically getting a channel strike.
The recipient has several options, do nothing, delete the offending video or contact the claimant to try to come to an agreement over the dispute.
If you choose to do nothing and wait then after the 7 days passes the video will be removed and you'll get a strike but at that point normal rules apply and you can file an official counter claim to dispute under fair use or a misidentification.

I don't know what to say about this, this seems like a genuinely positive thing from YouTube that will hopefully protect smaller channels from getting strikes unfairly and ultimately keep more people making content for the platform.

Summary
A completely new type of attacks has been devised which are specific to Intel CPUs (it may be possible to port to other CPUs, but requires reverse engineering of a CPU's on-chip interconnect). This whole new class of attack ignores previous ways to prevent such papers attacking CPU architectures (such as disabling SMT, cleansing microarchitectural state when context switching, etc). 
 
The attack comes from reverse engineering the ring interconnect's protocol in order to reveal the conditions for 2 processes that will incur ring contention. It can be used to leak key bits from vulnerable EdDSA/RSA implementations and also allows the attack to get the timing of keystrokes which can be used to reconstruct passwords.
 
To protect your program against it, you have to make your code timing-attack free (follow constant-time programming principles).

Woohoo, another vulnerability that takes advantages of hardware design, so it can't be patched. Even if we might be tired of hearing about yet another one, the depth and ingenuity of these always impress me. Even if I can't understand everything in the paper, it's a super interesting read and a reminder of the complexity of CPUs.
 
This type of attack is currently very early in its design so it is unknown how bad it is in the grand scheme of things. I'm not super worried about the consequences of this since it will probably patched quickly in the handful programs needing a fix, but it is always interesting to remind ourselves that hackers will never stop sharpening their fangs. As such the security of systems needs to constantly evolve to keep up with the increased hostility of attacks.
 
If this decade has thought us anything, is that CPU designs need to recieve extra care during their infancy to protect against such attacks.

In what should really surprise very little at this point, owing to a shortage of GeForce RTX 30-series desktop cards, miners, notably those in China, have started to turn their attention towards newly released laptops with NVIDIA's shiny new GPU architecture, notably for mining Ethereum, which has seen a significant value jump that now sits around the $1600-1700 mark. Given the sheer compute power of NVIDIA's Ampere architecture, even notebook GPUs have proven to be lucrative for cryptomining, even to the point of using it to mine whilst in a coffee shop, making enough to pay for the coffee itself.

It definitely looks like a pretty bad time to be in the market for any product that utilizes AMD's Zen 3 and RDNA2 architecture alongside NVIDIA's Ampere. With supply chains still reeling from the effect of COVID-19, and now coupled with increasing mining interests (again) plus the typical issues with scalping and price-gouging from retailers, it looks like many of us who either want to build a new system or upgrade an existing one will have to hold out much longer.
