  1. Do y'all know that initially the Celsius scale was the wrong way round? It used to say 0C as boiling point of water and 100C as melting point when Anders Celsius initially created it. This was done to avoid negative numbers as the temperature in Celsius' country routinely dropped below zero. It was later reversed by Jean-Pierre Christin.
  2. The XPS is good, but check out others from asus and lenovo too.
  3. will help: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyrix
  4. Yes. They might have suggested 850w at the time as it may have been the cheapest, or for efficiency, which wont matter too much for you. BTW it would help if you could give us a parts list.
  5. Well the 2080ti seems pointless to you at this point as the low level ray tracing and performance bump doesnt justify the price bump.
  6. If you want a free 3rd party tool to try, try using Macroit Disk Partitioner. I've used it many times before and recently and it works and is free.
  7. I may be wrong, but after cloning to new SSD wont the remaining space just be unallocated space that can be formatted?
  8. Unplug the pc and if possible keep in the case's box and keep the box such that the pc stays upright. Then humidity or dust wont trouble you.
  9. You really shouldnt. Trust me theres no worse waste of money for an i5 8400 than an aio
  10. Go on another computer, download the drivers onto a USB stick or external storage, and transfer to affected PC and install.
  11. Yes, then the RX 580 or the GTX 1060 6GB will do fine (but only for 1080p60 with high/ultra mixed), though id recommend getting a GTX 1060 6GB if you are cool with NVidia and it isn't over-budget.
  12. For the i5 8400 buying a liquid cooler is an absolute waste. Get a hyper 212/212x/212 evo. I have a Hyper 212x with my i7 7700 and its never gone above 60C while remaining completely inaudible.
  13. I quote: "Intel claims the new processors have twice the overall performance of a 5-year-old Intel CPU, and offer 1.8x better web performance. Video editing in Adobe is projected to be almost three times faster, and 4K videos should take half the time to create. That all sounds impressive, but Intel didn't provide comparisons to last year's Kaby Lake CPUs. Based on the new CPU's specs, we're not expecting performance breakthroughs. The new Whiskey Lake-U CPUs contain up to 4 cores and 8 threads, the same as their Kaby Lake predecessors. The three low-power Amber Lake-Y CPU variants are all dual-core and have 4 threads. The performance improvements were enabled by increasing clock speeds. The i7-8565U has a base clock speed of 1.8 GHz and a max turbo frequency of 4.6 GHz, whereas last year's Kaby Lake Core i7 CPU had a higher base clock speed of 1.9 GHz but topped out at 4.2 GHz. The new Core i5-8265U also bumps the maximum processor frequency up to 3.9 GHz from 3.6 GHz. The Core i3-8145U chip has a base clock speed of 2.1 GHz and maxes out at 3.9 GHz. The Y-series chips were similarly optimized with higher clock speeds. On the high-end, the Core i7-8500Y has a base frequency of 1.5 GHz and tops out at 4.2 GHz. The Core i5-8200Y has a max frequency of 3.9 GHz, while the low-end Core m3-8100Y reaches up to 3.4 GHz." Source: https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/intel-whiskey-lake-amber-lake-release-date-specs
  14. 1. If you overclock the 2600x then yes it will be futureproof for even the next 4-5 years. 2. It can only do 1080p60 as the RX 580 is slightly worse than a GTX 1060 6GB. For your purposes get a 1070 or for all high graphics settings a GTX 1070ti. BTW Whoever told you RAM speed affects gaming performance has lied. Even for Ryzen 2400MHz and 3200MHz RAM will only make at most 1 fps difference.
  15. I like MW2005 for the story and pursuits; Carbon for story and gameplay.
  16. Whiskey Lake and Amber Lake chips tout better WiFi and battery performance I quote: "INTEL HAS TIED UP its eighth-generation Core processor lineup with a suite of laptop chips aimed at improving WiFi speeds and boosting battery life. At IFA 2018, the chipmaker took the covers off the Whiskey Lake and Amber Lake chips - codenames for its new U-series and Y-series laptop processors, respectively. A trio of new U-series chips arrive in the form of the i7-8565U, i5-8265U and i3-8145U, with the first two chips sporting quad-core and eight-thread configurations, with the lesser-specced i3 offering two cores and four threads. The i7 chip ramps up to 4.6GHz when running at full puff, while the i5 and i3 processors hit 3.9GHz. Thermal design power for the chips weighs in at 15W. But performance isn't the headline feature here, as Intel is touting the chips Gigabit integrated WiFi and their use of Intel's Wireless-AC for "faster sharing, streaming and downloading", as well as facilitating battery life up to 16 hours for laptops, based on Intel's own testing of course. It's worth noting that eighth-gen U-series chips exist under the Kaby Lake-R architecture. So to spot the new U chips, look for a tag with the motto "Optimized for Connectivity". Three chips also make up the new Y-series Core processors, which didn't get an eighth-gen refresh like their larger siblings. The Core i7-8500, i5-8200Y and i3-8100 make up the new family of chips, with the all three rocking dual-core processors with four threads. Max clockspeed for the i7-85000Y is 4.2GHz, while the i5-8200Y maxes out at 3.9GHz and the m3-8100 reaches 3.4GHz. With a thermal design power of 5W, these new chips look to be designed to sip power and keep laptops ticking along for some time on a single charge. The new U and Y-series processors mark the end of the eighth-generation Intel chips, or at least those within the '8xxx' line-up. Intel's ninth-series chips are excepted either at the end of the year or early next year, though those seem more like a Coffee Lake refresh rather than a proper step forward in processor architecture." Source: https://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/3061737/intel-rounds-off-8th-gen-lineup-with-new-u-and-y-series-core-processors Personally I dont think this is the direction Intel should be going. They really should instead focus on making better and more affordable mainstream CPUs.
  17. What about Most wanted 2005? For me that was the best of all .
  18. Whats your favorite Need For Speed game till now?
  19. The 200series were an older Intel chip set for 6th and 7th gen CPUs. The 300series is the latest chipset than supports 8th gen CPUs and other new features like Optane on the boot drive.
