    Johannes_Lazor reacted to LinusTech in @LinusTech Twitter Account Hacked
    On June 28, 2016 the Linus Media Group domain registrar account was compromised.

    The exact methodology of the "hack" won't be disclosed for obvious reasons, but I can assure you that despite any claims to the contrary, the appropriate safeguards were in place on our side, and as I type this Yvonne is having a very heated phone discussion with the 3rd party responsible for the breach.

    Anyway, the thing most of you are probably wondering about right now is what this means for your forum account or personal information, and the answer is very simple:

    NOTHING.

    The "hacker" simply changed the DNS settings in the dashboard and did not at any time have access to the linustechtips.com server. Any claims of a database dump are categorically false.

    The compromised accounts - including Twitter - have been restored.

    I hope this clears things up.

    Linus

    Well first, computers need to be charged or powered with DC, so power from the wall (AC) will need to be converted either way, it doesn't matter what the voltage is.

    I think you've got your formulas mixed up a little too

    V = I * R. With a given resistance, higher voltage will be able to overcome the resistance more effectively, and so will produce higher current.
    P = I * V. Power, in Watts, is current * voltage.

    But since V = I * R, just replace V in the equation for power:
    P = I * (I * R), or P = I²R

    With P = I * V, if you double the voltage (and use a material with double the resistance so the current won't change), you double the total power being transferred. If instead the voltage is kept the same but the current is doubled (by using a material with half as much resistance) then the total power will also be doubled. If you do both (by simply doubling the voltage and not changing the resistance of the material, so the current will also double), the total power will be quadrupled.

    Depending on the fan it can work, Using a 12v DC fan it will die, thats for sure. However, if the fan is rated for AC and 230 volts it is just fine.
    The primary problem with plugging you notebook directly into the socket is the AC, It burns through DC electronics like a hot knife through butter. Stepping down the voltage from 230 volts to 20 volts is not very efficient unless you use the AC with a transformer and convert it to DC( the powerbrick). You could just put a resistor with a cooler on it along with an powerful diod and capacitor to step down the voltage but that way all the 210volts which are excess would have to be converted into heat(That is the way mosfets work, but DC to DC)

    Use LOOT to get your load order in place once you have all the mods you want.
    As far as visual mods go, straight up the best one is SMIMM, static mesh improvement mod. If you don't have it, get it right now, seriously great mod.
    Then get the immersive settlements, patrols, monsters, armor, and weapons mods. Adds so much, and the armor and weapons are balanced too, and mostly lore friendly.

    Im not holding my breath for AMD (or intel for that matter) they have to prove their products are worth my money and time, I have no loyalty for any company

    i was going to do that at first, but im going to be transfering everything from my old computer to the new one, and unfortunately that exceeds the 240gb that a similarly priced ssd would give me, also im not sure if i would be able to fit all of my software, let alone games on that ssd

    Seems fine mostly but two notes:

    1-Get 2*8GB rather than 4*4GB since you have two free slots you can upgrade to later
    2-The PSU isn't that good. I'll try to get a EVGA G2, and if that doesn't fit your budget a seasonic S12-|| 620w will do.

    If you want performance and reliability, Intel is probably the best option. Maybe this?: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-internal-hard-drive-ssdsc2bw120a401
    Samsung's 850/950 series and Crucial MX/BX drives are also good quality.
    But if you had to choose between those two drives probably the corsair, (but I don't know much about either drive, please correct me if I am wrong!)

    Johannes_Lazor reacted to Naeaes in 2 monitors side by side for a specific use?
    Just buy the second monitor and connect it. Then set it as primary and the 4K one as secondary. All full-screen programs such as games will run in the new monitor and any windowed program you will be able to drag to either one. Most programs like Web browsers will/should open a fullscreen mode in the screen the windowed mode was located. That's how you can switch between fullscreen/windowed in, say, Netflix without the program hopping from screen to screen.

    Edit:
    - For 144Hz, you'll need Dual-Link DVI-D or Displayport cables and connectors
    - You shouldn't, but if your monitors support it, I guess you can daisychain using DP. I'm not 100% sure 144Hz monitor will work right while being daisychained with a 60Hz monitor...
    - Oh... In that case, disable the screen you're not using (and automatically make the other primary) by pressing Win+P
    - Cool. It's a great display.
