  1. It might be fun to do a spot for Bones Coffee. They're based in Florida, they roast all their beans fresh to order, and the flavors are wacky and amazing. They're the best coffee I've ever had.
  2. I would just like to put in my 2 cents that I rarely watch youtube videos on my phone, I use the app on my TV, so I never see or interact with product links. I just go straight to the website. I'd love to give you guys affiliate credit for Vessi but I've used other codes instead. You did let me know about them, though!
  3. Did you use Display Driver Uninstaller to uninstall the old drivers and get the latest driver from AMD?
  4. It looks so good tho :'( The sag is real. I never expected that a riser cable would damage my pci-e slots - especially BOTH of them, which is super odd. But nothing else had changed besides me switching the gpu's orientation. And it happened mid-stream off of my Plex server. hopefully MSI will be quick about getting me a replacement board. Maybe I'll spring for a 3000G just to have a backup APU :P
  5. So the reason I ask this question is a little convoluted. I have a Ryzen 5 3600 and I'm currently RMA'ing my x570 motherboard possibly due to a riser card damaging both (somehow??) my PCI-Express slots, rendering any GPU I put in there unusable. So I had no screen on boot up at all and had no idea if I was even booting into Windows (I had no debug LED lights, however). I tried using the HDMI out on my motherboard and got no signal. But when I had just bought my RX 5700 last week and used DDU to uninstall the drivers, I had to reboot the system and was able to get into windows using the HDMI out on the mobo. I'm not sure if this was something DDU allowed me to do or not, and/or if the damage to my motherboard extends to the HDMI out port. Generally, even if you have a Ryzen without an APU, will it still allow you to at least get into windows and mess with settings? Not having integrated graphics was what scared me into not getting a CPU without one for this exact reason.
  6. I second Linus's suggestion with having an audio booth. I was hoping there had been one last year, but I'm super curious to try out cheap vs expensive and closed-backed vs open-backed headphones.
  7. Before I upgraded to my Ryzen 5 3600, I bought a 32gb kit of Trident Z RAM. I had a Gigabyte Aorus z370 motherboard at the time, and the RGB synced perfectly using RGB Fusion. But when I finally upgraded to my MSI X570 Gaming Edge Wifi board with Ryzen, the RGB is stuck on Rainbow Wave and it is not detected by the MSI Mystic Light software. Nor can I find it under my Corsair software that controls my AIO (not sure if this is normal or not, the cooler was installed the same time as the mobo/cpu) But I also tried installing the G.Skill app, and I can't change any settings there either. The RAM is detected just fine with CPU-Z. I did read that RGB software can conflict with each other so I did try to uninstall one and try the other and visa versa with no effect. I tried swapping the sticks around also. Getting deeper into research, I discovered that it might be an issue with the RAM's SPD, so I downloaded Tiaphoon Burner, however is says my CRC is ok. (Also pretty sure my MSI board doesn't have an SPD write function... I looked all over for it.) Here is the kicker. I still have the old z370 board. I plugged it in, and the RAM synced right up with RGB Fusion, just like before. If the SPD *is* corrupted, can someone please give me a comprehensive, very noob-friendly walkthrough so that I can hopefully get it fixed confidently? Thanks!
  8. Okay this is going to be a long post... System: i3 8350K (overclocked to 4.2ghz) Gigabyte z370 gaming 5 motherboard 16x2 Trident Z 3200mhz RAM (XMP enabled) Sapphire Nitro+ 580 video card Cooler Master single rad AIO 1x Samsung NVME m.2 250gb (with OS) 1x Samsung SSD 500gb 2x HDD 1x DVD ROM It started shortly after installing my Cooler Master AIO a couple weeks ago (and possibly after a minor Windows update), I got a couple of BSOD's that I am unsure of the exact error but i think one was a nls.sys or something - both errors were of sys files. I kind of ignored them until I got a kernel error BSOD. I managed to get back into Windows to back up some files and decided to wipe the drive and reinstall windows. I used an ISO disc to format the nvme and after the initial install the system reboots - and I got a black DOS screen of Boot errors. (sorry I don't have pictures of these) the gist is that I was unable to load windows off of a fresh install. I tried again with the same result. So, I went back into CMD and tried my hand at some DOS script, I had to use DISKPART to even assign a letter to the drive as it had somehow disappeared and was unable to cd to it in CMD. After that, I used the /fixboot options (I'm no expert in any of this, I'm just guessing at this point) and it says that it worked, so I tried to install windows again. It still didn't work (same error) So, I resigned myself to buying another nvme because maybe the boot sectors got corrupted somehow (it is only a year old but I suppose it can happen). After getting another Samsung nvme m.2, after the reboot, I was able to set everything up and get into Windows. Kind of. This is where it gets weird (as if it isn't already). There was no icons on the right side of the bar besides the time and date. No volume, no internet, nothing. I had no recycle bin on my desktop. I tried to open settings and it wouldn't let me. I decided to reboot, and that was the last time I was able to get into Windows (I did get into Safemode once, but I wasn't sure how to proceed as I have no idea what the problem is). Every time I try to get into windows it either gives me a blue screen of Recovery options or just a black screen of nothing at all. My hardware seems none the wiser - my mobo is giving me an A0 (IDE initialization is started), and everything seems fine - all cables are connected. I could sit there and let my PC hum with nothing on my screen all day. (FYI: I have tested the temps with the AIO and run stress tests on the CPU and everything is stable there. They never get higher than 65c under full load). I also tried putting the nvme in a different m.2 slot with no success. I have tried to use a Recovery USB, and it cycles the options (asks me what media I want to use. I say USB, it reboots, asks me what media I want to use etc), and I said F it and tried my ISO disc, and suddenly my mobo is not even recognizing that I have a DVD ROM in my boot up options anymore. I did try resetting the cmos by removing the battery for 5 minutes. It showed that my BIOS is reset but that didn't help; my overclocks had been stable for a while anyway. There were a couple of instances - one after the m.2 switch and one after the cmos reset, where my PC booted for like 5 seconds, shut off, and booted again. Unsure if this is a normal thing after changing stuff around like that or not. I'm not even sure where to go from here. This has gone beyond my ability to self diagnose at this point. It's so confounding. Any help would be appreciated!! Thank you so much
  9. Thanks for the help everyone. I'll go with the 2x 16gb 3200. It makes the most sense. I'm so excited for my new Ryzen build!
  10. Do you think it lacks XMP support? I do use that for my current sticks. I've never manually adjusted RAM before and I'm a bit intimidated by it.
  11. Do you think there isn't much issue then with memory kits as there was "back in the day"? As long as I stick with the same brand and timings, I could probably buy more sticks later without issue?
  12. Maybe that means that it doesn't have XMP support then? I'll be honest: I like XMP - I've never actually manually adjusted my RAM before. lol
  13. Newegg has the G.Skill Trident Neo 3600 with CAS of 18 for $189. But I wonder how it would run in my intel system for the next few months if it's specifically meant for Ryzen.
  14. I'm falling down a rabbit hole of RAM options. Right now I have an intel CPU but I will be upgrading to a Ryzen 5 3600 soon so I need to take RAM into consideration. I'm looking at 2 sets in particular: G.Skill TridentZ 4x 8gb 3600 CAS 19 $189 (sale) G.Skill TridentZ 2x 16gb 3200 CAS 16 $169 (sale) I know Ryzen likes 3600 better, but considering I'll be running in dual channel, I wonder if I'll take a performance hit with 4 sticks as opposed to 2. I'll be getting a Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite if that matters. My use case leans more towards video editing/rendering than gaming, so I also wonder if having a CAS of 19 even matters for hyperthreaded workloads. I can probably tighten the timings of the 3600 RAM, but with 4 sticks it might be more difficult. Plus I read that it puts strain on the memory controller? I can't really find any information on this besides people saying it on forums. Then again, x4 RGB vs x2 RGB.. XD Please help... my brain hurts >_<
  15. Lol right I've been wanting to ask him about that statistic as well "how many are between the ages of 30-35? And how many of those are women?" I'm probably at 1% lol
  16. I'm trying to decide which day I can go; I won't be able to do both. Linus said he was leaving early on Saturday for his concert and so I'm trying to decide if Sunday would be better. Is there usually an itinerary of talks of who and when? Thanks!
  17. LTX first timer here as well, be driving up from the Seattle area. I'm planning on a day at LTX and then a day around Whistler as well. I'm one of the 3% (I think Linus said in this 10-year stream that only 3% women sub to the channel lol) I'll be recognizable because I'm considering making myself an "AMD Outside" t shirt lmao
  18. I heard that you guys will be doing audio comparisons with all the headsets Linus has which I'm totally interested in. What about the same for keyboards? Mx blue vs red vs brown etc. Maybe throw some oddballs in there like Razer's green switches and some that aren't cherry mx? I'd be so interested in that!
  19. Hi all, I have a Corsair Carbide 500R case, and I'm looking to buy a 140mm fan or two for the top. But I'm really confused... the 140mm fans I find are intake fans... the only way I could put them on top for exhaust is if I flipped them around and had them upsidown. And I doubt the cable would stretch or work in that position. How do I go about finding case fans meant to exhaust from the top of the case? Thanks
