Yep, same thing here in Europe. Even after adjusting for currency + sales tax (VAT), there's still some markup we have to pay.
But you also have to take into account that prices in the US almost never include the sales tax, but it's standard practice to include it in the displayed price in most of the rest of the world. Taxes, not just sales tax but also other taxes that go through the retailing process, tend to be higher here.
