Rusted got a reaction from Favebook in BOINC Pentathlon 2020
If the magic blue smoke comes out of the electronic device, the voodoo spell escapes and you device doesn't work anymore . Then you need to buy new device from voodoo store while the staff chant cryptic specs of the device to cast the voodoo spell.
Or have I been misinformed how electronics work?
😁

Got boinc docker running in my unraid server, it has only Xeon E3-1220v5 and can't use all cores for boinc. Need to see if I can get my test/junk machine running, I think that has i5-3450 so it should have more power than my server and it can use all cores to run boinc

Looking overclock.net folding gpu chart.
The 980ti is more powerful than two 780ti's and should use same amount of power than single 780ti.
If I had to vote on these to option I would say 980ti

Rusted got a reaction from amdorintel in is wifi 6 relevant?
To get a benefit of WiFi 6 you need to have network that can support those kinds of speeds, most home WiFi 6 routers still have 1Gbps Ethernet ports.
So if the motherboard you want has WiFi 6 it's a bonus, but I wouldn't make getting WiFi 6 support a priority.

As GPUs get better and get more points, it would be nice if this kind of award excited. Current middle tier GPUs get are making same as top tier GPUs made in previous generation.
Edit:
Currently there are 7 people who have over 1 billion points, if current rates keep up estimates show that after year that number is 20.

I have found device that can mask my folding rigs noise, my 3d printer with A4988 stepper drivers and LM8UU bearings.
It's currently printing new parts for upgrade, it will take few evenings to print all parts. When I have the parts ready it will be getting 32bit board with tmc2209 drivers. LM8UU bearings will be swapped for sintered bronze bearings and polymer bushings. Should make the thing much quieter.

Regarding AMD Navi GPUs and folding
It looks like we have to wait for FAHCore_22 to get support for these cards.

If I did my math right:
Our team got ~284m points after the server fix in one update. We produced ~55m points in updates before and after the fix. So with four updates our production should be ~220m points. So with rough math we got ~64m points from the QRB fix as a team. leadeater alone got ~ 43m points and there is another user in our team that got ~18m points, he hasn't folded for weeks. So these two users got ~61m points of the ~64m points, so the rest of us got something but it might be impossible to tell that from the normal fluctuations of PPD

Nice detective skills ?. I don't think 3m points is worth worrying about if it's spread across multiple users.

Junkitron has joined Folding Month! With only a 1050Ti to work with, it's not going to be a bruiser, but this does now mean that I have two PCs in the house contributing!

"The sequence of messages:

11:26:22:WU02:FS01:0x21:Exiting, please wait. . .
11:26:22:WU02:FS01:0x21:Folding@home Core Shutdown: INTERRUPTED
11:26:22:WU02:FS01:FahCore returned: INTERRUPTED (102 = 0x66)
is a normal sequence. In this case, the Console control signal is part of the "pause" sequence where one process is interrupting another process."

Now that’s dedication. At least with no TV you can watch those proteins fold. We were without Internet for a week here when switching ISPs and the wife and kids went into withdrawal. Our cellular data plan took a beating.
