Here's a quick dirty script i came up with:

##Save as media_load_spotify.ahk excluding this line *Launch_Media:: Run Spotify return After you have installed AutoHotKey, you should be able to run this script and press the music button and spotify will load.

You may want to try automating the script, such as adding it to startup or something but ill leave you to decide!

Honestly, your system is getting kinda old, I hate to be that guy that says this, but you really will benefit from an upgrade into the Ryzen series

I recently canned my old system and went to a Ryzen 7 2700 and I can tell you, the difference is amazing!

    My old systemL

    CPU: AMD FX 8120 O.C. - 3.8GHz\
    Mobo: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
    RAM: G.Skill Rip Jaws 4x4 GB @ 1333MHz
GPU: ASUS ROG Strix 570 Gaming
    PS: Silverstone 750w
Cooler: Cooler Master Master Liquid ML120L
    Case: Thermaltake Versa H17
    Storage: Samsung 860 Evo 500Gb

    My New system:
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700
    Mobo: Asus Prime B450M-A
    RAM: Teamforce 4x8GB 2666Mhz
    GPU: Asus RX 580
    PS: Silverstone 750w
Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H150i PRO
Case: Cougar PANZER Dual Tempered Mid tower

Trust me, the feeling is amazing!

*EDIT* The part about the GPU is removed as it may have seemed a little confusing at first!

That's not how it works.. Not sure how it is where you are but in the UK the cable goes from the phone line port thing to a splitter and then one cable goes to your landline phone while another cable goes to a router.
At least that's how it used to be in my house before I changed ISPs.

Dufsao14 got a reaction from HanZie82 in Phone line to Ethernet
You can find Phone line filters and such which will split the data coming through into phone line and internet data line, but you would need a router of some sort to distribute it over ethernet...

Info should be correct unless im not in the same country as you and the standards are different there

The AMD FX series processors a 2 generations old now, that's what @Slottr is talking about, the core clock was and is still amazing on that particular processor but since it is now a few generations old, it is starting to fall behind, then again, maybe it could be fixed simply by uninstalling minecraft and java, then reinstalling them??

Seems like an awesome build so far! Maybe if he is able to put in some money of his own, he could chuck in maybe an RX 480/570, I run one with an FX 8120 on O.C. and it runs pretty nicely!

Only way to activate it is to buy a legitimate key, although I'm not sure off the top of my head on whereabouts to get one would be, you could try something like KMSpico if you really need that version of win 8, although i do not recommend it as it does modify the registry to bypass the windows activation, which (everyone should know) is technically piracy

    Up to you though!

i would recommend the one with the 1060 since the gpu is slightly better
however if you want to buy the would advise putting a 500/240 g ssd in them since that will boost the performance in booting and loading games

However if you want the best deal for your money I would recommend building your own

A GTX 1060 won't get you 144FPS unless you intend to lower your settings. But you can still enable 144Hz. But you will need the DisplayPort cable to do so is what I am saying.

It's a FreeSync monitor it does not have G-sync.

You know those charging bricks for phones, they convert AC current from your outlet to DC current for your device.

The pc looks fine to get started on, although you'll want to google some specs and whatnot just to make sure you'll be able to achieve what you want to try,
the case seems to be thin client styled, meaning there is less customization options available, another case shouldn't be too expensive though

Seems like a decent starter PC

Make sure you shutdown and unplug the PC first dude, you may corrupt a module if you leave it running and of course there is an electrocution risk while the PC is on.
  17. Agree
Dufsao14 reacted to Chargrilled in Ram placement
As long as all the DIMMs are working properly you should be fine just powering down and re-seating in the recommended slots.

Edit: As with any tinkering, of course make sure you turn off power at the wall and wear an ESD strap (if you don't have one, touch a faucet or your case before poking any expensive components)

Of course. Turn off the system, unplug power, swap where they are slotted in, and turn it back on. Done.

Dufsao14 got a reaction from porina in Changing mouse settings improved my game fps
Mouse Polling rate is like your monitor refresh rate, the higher it is, the more times it updates the movement/image

Having it lower means you PC works less to update the mouse position, having anything over 250 is generally aimed at professional eSports and such, for home gaming and minor competition, 250 Hz polling rate should be fine

As a conclusive comment, the polling rate affects your system as the mouse is trying to update at 1000~ times per second @ 1000mhz polling rate
the lower the polling rate, the less cpu resource is needed for the mouse

Are you talking about installing an updated version of a BIOS?
Drivers are usually installed onto an OS so the hardware can receive instructions from the OS to perform certain actions

Sorry to be uninformative with this reply, I'm just looking for some clarification on your post!

Dufsao14 reacted to Electronics Wizardy in Is there a way to install chipset drivers by booting from a USB Stick?
You need to have a os installed to install drivers.

If you mean update bios, then you put the bios on a usb, and there is no os needed.
