xAGx_Pisces reacted to Electronics Wizardy in Need advice on improving air flow
Cooling is going to be fine, don't worry about it.

Air isn't consumed and is just moved. More air will take its place.
What you have seems fine. See how your temps are before deciding to change anything.

Idle temps don't really matter. Look at load instead.

Also I would change the case, Always a better idea to increase the price for hardware rather than aesthetics. Source 210 is a good bang for the buck and will give you a bit more cash to play with.

xAGx_Pisces reacted to flibberdipper in Why people say that a GTX1060 is enough for 1080p 60hz?
If your expectations aren't bloated or whatever you want to call it, then it is indeed a very good 1080p card.

I wouldn't get a CX 430, it has a max temp of 30c, get this instead: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/xVkD4D/seasonic-power-supply-ssr450rm

If I go with Intel, I'll do this. I looked up a performance comparison between the two chips, and the one your recommended turned out to be the better one overall. Thank you and everyone else who helped out.

Ah, okay. I know it can happen the other way around. I looked at your part list and made a few modifications (actually, I changed everything to see how it'd look lol). Maybe I'll tweak it later and try to get it down below $500. We'll have to see if I can afford it. Thank you very much for the list. I'll definitely try to sell my old CPUs somewhere for a few bucks. The other parts aren't worth anything.
I might still go with the AMD chip, mostly because I'm so used to having crap performance anyways and can save a lot of money that way. After messing around with this, I'd probably go with yours or the AMD instead of my list. It's getting up there in price.

Well shit, nah it was a reoccurring theme on reddit for a bit.

You don't need 650w for this build, even a 450w would be fine.

$400 (I'm assuming it's USD) can get you an i5 and the other parts you wanted, I'll put together a part list.

The GPU can't reduce the CPUs performance, the GPU just gets to be max performance all the time.

You could update your graphics card later, you will probably get similar performance in games with a slightly bump, yes the CPU will be bottlenecked by the GPU and as shadow said the GPU will just ruin at max ask the time. You current CPU is a Phenom ii which is a socket am3 part Eminentsun is mistaken.

Just a side note here (little off topic but funny) I too went from an old phenom to an fx series chip. Later I found out that the upgrade from the phenom to the fx was a 14% upgrade on userbenchmarks lol. Anyways ShadowTechXTS build is very solid I would go with that.
