  1. OP this is a really useful article if you need it. https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/1229-anatomy-of-a-motherboard-what-is-a-vrm-mosfet?showall=1
  2. Just simply what others have been telling you, you need to research your components more before buying them. There is plenty out there to help you, you just need to spend the time looking. If you are not sure and don't want to spend the time looking then buy a pre-built that says it can be overclocked or already is.
  3. I agree with this, i bought the X370 Gaming F a very strong board and this wont clock to 4.0Ghz, i can get a stable 3.9 and that's the limit.

Noctua - NH-D9L Vs be quiet! - Dark Rock 4

My bad, very sorry for that. I see, so it would cool better but probably overkill and mostly would be for aesthetics. I thought as much for AIO coolers as they are pricey and i've heard they are noisy. Thanks alot for your help!!!

    Gender-Bias at CES 2019?

Honestly i have to laugh at all this, great line BTW!! People rely have nothing to worry about in life when they start to bitch about a vibrator not being in trade show. It's such stupid BS.

Noctua - NH-D9L Vs be quiet! - Dark Rock 4

Hi Guys, So i will be having a cooler yes but the plan would be not to buy a cooler for my partner's machine if i don't upgrade my air cooler as their machine will have a AMD 2200G under the hood with the stock cooler. They will need to be updated as i plan to pass on my 1600X when the AMD 3000 series is out and plan to go with 3600x or the 3700x if they are any good. I am aware that these may need better cooling and would rather be ahead of the change and plan the air cooler change now rather than later and honestly even if the 3000 series isn't any good then i will have a better cooler anyway and i don't see the harm in that as well as it matching my build better in the end anyway. Honestly thanks alot for replying guys. I don't normally struggle with hardware but cooling is not something i am very good with on the CPU side. As a side question, is there much of a benefit going from a good air cooler to a AIO CPU water block? Are the gaines worth the risk as well as the cost?
  8. Hi Guys, I am thinking of replacing my Noctua - NH-D9L(six months old), i have two reasons for this, one is that i am building a PC for my partner and she may need a better fan and this could be it. On the other hand this would fit in my build better(Colour Scheme) and better a better cooler i think... based on the max TDP. I am not by any means an expert on air coolers and have no interest in a water cooler at all. Would this be an upgrade or would this be a waist of time? Please see the link below of my current built and honestly the cost doesn't bother me so its not a factor due to wanting to get a better air cooler for my partners new build anyhow. Many thanks for taking the time to read this in advance. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/b/2KMZxr

    Ryzen 7nm Leaks Looking GOOD

I think this is great news no matter if there is some variance, AMD's are not and never will be intel killers but that's not their MO. I know i will upgrade to a Ryzen 3 and have been so happy with my Ryzen 1st gen. AMD need to keep this going so everyone benefits from a healthy competition driving prices down and core counts up.

Games crashing when XMP is on.

Hi, I have the same issue, i have set my ram to 2800Mhz on a dual channel setup. I have found that i cannot achieve the full speed. I beleive that others had this issue and this is better in 2nd gen Ryzen, not sure there is a resolution.
  11. I would advise waiting for the Ryzen 2 launch. A 1080Ti will do you fine for a while unless you willing to spend some crazy money on a 2080Ti which i would not recommend.

Extra 8GB of RAM or 240GB nvme SSD?

Depends on weather you are using all your ram, if you are wanting a QOL upgrade, this would be the SSD. Nothing more to say really.
  13. A 1600x is plenty if you need a cheaper alternative. I have one paired with a 1080 and it never bottlenecks.

    Best CPU for Gaming 2018

Oh of course, but any CPU over 4 cores isn't needed for gaming as most games don't make use of more than four typically. I just wanted to see what it could do when its unleashed.
