  1. Hi, just wanted to leave an update regarding my issue. I was not aware that in order for me to enable secure boot with windows, it was necessary for me to reinstall my operating system. This worked for me, and I was able to download the early dev version of windows 11.
  2. I went ahead and tried this, but it didn't seem to change the message. Thanks for the suggestion.
  3. Hi, I recently tried installing the insider build for Windows 11. However, the installation tool claimed that secure boot was disabled. As far as I can tell, I enabled secure boot in my bios. For context, my motherboard is an Asrock Pro 4 B350. I am running the latest bios for this motherboard, version 6.40. Here is a photo of the setting that I believe enables secure boot: This was after generating a secure key. However, when trying to upgrade to Windows 11, I get this message: Additionally, using a third party tool I got these more specific errors: Did I enable secure boot incorrectly? Does my motherboard lack this feature? Additionally, if this is better suited for the hardware section of the forum please let me know.
  4. As an update, my friend has reverted his drivers to the previous version his computer had. For now, it seems to have fixed the issue.
  5. I asked him about his monitor, it is definitely an older model. Would drivers introduce enough new information to for there to be an issue?
  6. Hello. I recently helped my friend update his graphics drivers. He went from a much older version (about a year old) to the most recent version available for his 1050ti. Since that update, he has been seeing artifacts of a previously closed Google Chrome window whenever he enters a full screen application. I have found people with this issue, but I haven't found a solution to it. Has anyone encountered this problem, or a similar one? Thank you in advance for any advice. Further context: My friend is running a computer with Windows 7. I can ask him about his other specs if that is needed. The full screen applications that he has tried to open so far are League of Legends and Valorant. The same problem happens in both.
  7. Alright, I think the next step is probably creating a support ticket. Thanks for your replies.
  8. I should have also clarified that the server is being hosted by mcprohosting. If you know of a way that I can test the server's internet speed, please let me know. This is a purely vanilla server as far as I know (unless mcprohosting add something themselves). Also, my friend's internet seems fine, with a 66mbps/5mbps download and upload speed. His ping seems fine as well.
  9. Hello, a friend of mine is disconnecting from our minecraft server. This isn't happening to him in any other server. Additionally, there are other people in the server who aren't having the same issue. We've been searching online for a solution, but most of them assume that the issue is only happening occasionally. In this case, the problem is consistent. The error code associated is related to a connection error, but I am unsure about how to further troubleshoot the problem. Any help will be much appreciated, and I hope everyone is safe and healthy. Error code: Internal Exception: java.io.IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
  10. Thank you for your suggestions, I'll look into implementing some of them.
  11. Hi, I've been trying to find a method of improving my productivity. One way I thought about doing this was to create an isolated user that is distraction-free. However, I haven't found a way to prevent stuff like games from showing up on this isolated user. While sometimes its as simple as deleting a shortcut, other times its much harder to completely remove traces of a program. My question is, is there a way to only have certain programs appear for an individual user, and not others?
  12. Hey, I know this is long after your initial comment, but did you end up testing under load with an eGPU? Thank you in advance if you reply.
  13. Hi, I was wondering if anyone that owned a Lenovo Yoga C940 (specifically one of the 14 inch models) had any issues with the keyboard becoming too hot while the CPU was under load. My main concern is that, while I want to upgrade to this laptop, I haven't been able to get a definitive answer to if this occurs. My current laptop becomes almost unusable, because parts of the keyboard become too hot to touch while doing anything that pushes the CPU. Thanks in advance for any replies.
  14. While I think the 15 inch specs are definitely desirable, I'll probably end up going with the 14 inch model instead. Thanks for the suggestion regardless, it's definitely an option to look at. Especially if I am able to expand my budget a bit.
  15. Yes School work, but I will need to be able to run a virtual machine on it occassionally, so it can't be too underpowered. Additionally I'm not sure what software I might need in the future, so ideally I'm trying to get something a bit more powerful now rather than regretting it later. Don't care about either of these. I don't do creative work, and am not picky about my displays. Also upgradeable ram isn't a priority for me, if the ram it comes with is already good enough. As light as possible, but I'd sacrifice some weight if it means better performance (that includes if the cooling is better). Preferably enough to get through a day on campus (usually 6-8 hours). Not necessarily running anything hard though, just basic web browsing. I'd be ok with a 15 inch if its really a good deal, but ideally I want a 13 or 14 inch. This is something I'll need to carry with me a lot, so a smaller size would be better.
  16. Thank you for the suggestion, this is something I will definitely consider. As just a personal opinion, would you go for this, or the Yoga C940 (i7-1065G7, 12GB ram, 512GB storage) for its sale price of about $1,000?
  17. Alright, thank you very much for your replies.
  18. Thank you for your question. It's mostly for school, so generally it won't be too intensive. However, I do occasionally need to do some more intensive processes like running a virtual machine. There's also a chance that I might need a little bit of power as I move forward with my major. I'm not entirely sure what programs I'll need to be able to use, because I've only just started studying to become a network engineer.
  19. Thanks for your reply. One more quick question: with my old laptop an issue I had often was the keyboard becoming too hot to touch when the CPU was pushed. Does the surface of the laptop get exceedingly warm during heavy use?
  20. Do you use the laptop in its tablet form? If so, do you find it too heavy?
