  1. Planning to get an RTX 3080 but generally I'm not sure if there will be any bottlenecking with a Ryzen CPU. I'm considering between 3700X and 3900X. Or should I go for the 5000 series? Any advice would be appreciated.
  2. I read reviews of people with the Klipsch speakers using a DAC reported better sound and overall quality. But then again I'm not too sure. Also, this might be a dumb question but you cannot use headphone outputs on the DAC for the speaker right? I assume 3.5mm for headphones is totally different?
  3. Pardon me, I'm not too familiar with the DAC or what cables are used to connect them to powered speakers. I have the Klipsch 2.1 ProMedia speakers. However, this speakers only have a 3.5mm jack.Considering a DAC has a 3.5mm headphone OUT, I suppose we don't use this right? I assume I have to get an RCA to 3.5mm connector since the DAC has RCA ports. Also, if someone can recommend a good DAC under $100, that would be good.
  4. I have an older Yamaha AV receiver and old Yamaha 5.1 surround sound system, however, it only has RCA ports. My newer Panasonic TV is connected to set top box and has Chromecast plugged in. It has HDMI ARC, and RCA ports and a digital optical audio port. However my older Yamaha receiver only has RCA ports, so I tried connecting RCA cables in to the TV but there's no audio.I'm no expert or anything but I'm assuming this is because I'm watching digital TV, while RCA only sends analog signals only right? So how do I watch Chromecast, Netflix etc with this older Yamaha surround system? Is there any way to make this work or do I need a new AV receiver that has HDMI ports? Or maybe I should start buying a new surround sound system too?

  6. @Jurrunio Hey sorry for bothering, Just one more thing. For the custom fan curve, do I force fan speed update on each period? If so how long? 5000 ms? Some tutorial has that ticked/checked, while some don't. Is having that ticked to ensure that I am indeed using the custom fan curve, because I can't really tell whether factory or the custom fan curve is in use right now lol.(But I know the fans are ramping up and down for sure). I heard that is to override compatibility issues with using the custom fan curve? I dont know Thanks, appreciate if you can help!

  8. Actually what I meant is, is it worth overclocking? And if I want a good performance boost, do I need to risk bumping the voltage etc.. damage considered etc etc. Or can I just leave the voltage. In any case, think I should want more performance. But I'm still unsure about some things.
  9. Hey guys, I'm new to overclocking GPU but did some research, with regards to the MSI Afterburner. Should I overclock? Specs: MSI GTX 1060 6GB Armor Ryzen 2700X, stock settings MSI X470 Gaming Plus mobo Seasonic 750W Focus Plus 80+ Gold Few things I dont understand tho, 1) If I want to rely on my fan curve and dont want the fans to be spinning too much even at idle, should I set Fan speed to Auto or a specific percentage? 2) Should I mess with voltages? Some say bump up 30 mV, some none and some says all the way. In any case I'm afraid it might cause damage to the GPU. 3) Regarding voltages, what's the use of CRTL+L on the Voltage/Frequency Curve in some tutorials I see. Is that always necessary if u change the voltage?

So I just tested a mild overclock on my Ryzen 2700x with a stock Wraith Prism Cooler, tried to stress test it with AIDA 64, but it was jumping to 83 degrees and then dropping to 78 degrees, up and down for about a good 10-20 seconds. Then I got scared and just decided to end the test. Lol. Could these have damaged the CPU or thermal paste on the cooler? Reason being I saw a youtube video, think it was Jaytwocents, stress testing the Ryzen cpu (with the same stock cooler) with Cinebench, and it got to about 90 degrees for him and kinda start throttling. He then remove the stock cooler and checked on the thermal paste "to see how it's doing". And he said "Not bad". What does he mean by that? Im so confused. Does that mean the thermal paste was affected by the heat? In any case, should I be worried about the cooler thermal paste or the CPU itself?
  12. Did as you told, now running at max ddr 2666mhz. Yea I think I guessed why Cinebench score was lower because it looked for a better multicore performance rather than a single core. I doubt 50-60 points is going to make a massive difference anyway, at most I'm stuck with few seconds or mins longer rendering times. But like u said, xfr2 will be more powerful handling games : ) which should be a plus point. Probably 5 degrees hotter as well but still manageable I guess... Thanks for the help btw!
  13. Ironically, one user from this forum recommended me to not use pbo and XFR2 because of high voltages, considering i have an MSI board. So, just to confirm, the fluctuating voltages with xfr2 and pbo would be fine? It could jump up to 1.425 or 1.45 max if I'm not wrong. RAM voltage will be around 1.370 as well. All these are okay?
  14. Hmm I doubt I could reach 4.1 or 4.2 overclock, because I'm using a stock cooler afterall. But how do you explain the high Cinebench (1704) scores for such a "mild overclock". That's something I dont get as well. Could it be XFR2 not detecting Cinebench as a heavy test? You might be right tho, i'll probably switch it back to stock settings.
  15. Okay, but why the Cinebench scores arent as high? (Ard 1640 as compared to 1704 for my current OC settings) And temps are higher as well.
  16. That's the thing tho, at stock settings the voltages are too high and MSI doesnt have offset voltage. And for some reason, Cinebench scores arent that high at all. Even with RAM running at max speed.
  17. Mine is a 2666mhz. So u're meaning I shud set to: A-XMP - Profile 1(2400 mhz) DRAM Frequency- Auto or 2400mhz?

CPU is a Ryzen 2700x with an MSI X470 Gaming Plus mobo RAM is a 2 x 8GB DDR4 2666mhz I'm using AMD's Wraith Prism Cooler I'm not looking to achieve a crazy overclock, but just to reduce the high voltages that was fluctuating due to the Precison Boost and XFR2. I changed the CPU core ratio from auto to x39. And I disabled A-XMP which was previously Profile TWO. That's all, I didnt touch the voltages or anything else, everything is auto. AMD's Cool n Quiet was disabled on its own. Not sure if I should on it back tho. But overall, CPU core voltage reduced from 1.425 to 1.28, DRAM Voltage from 1.340 to 1.216. Temps were previously idling at 39-49, dropped to 35-45 degrees. Cinebench scores were miraculously 50-60 points higher, standing at 1704. BIOS reads I'm running 3.9 Ghz, DDR 2400mhz. Now I'm not sure if I should enable A-XMP Profile ONE(2400mhz), and will that make any difference in performance or cause temperature increase, boot issues? I heard also that A-XMP settings sets everything for you, but since I disabled it and considering I didnt touch the settings (RAM voltage, timings etc..), will that be okay? I just set DRAM frequency to Auto. And If I enable A-XMP Profile 1, should I leave DRAM frequency to Auto? Or will enabling A-XMP ignore that altogether. I dont know how it works It's my first time OCing so pardon me
  19. Correct me if I'm wrong. 1) Stable meaning the temps at idle and at load right? Let's say I'm aiming for 4.0Ghz at 1.40V if it's below 75 degrees celsius under stress test. And it's able to boot up with no crashes. Can this be considered a stable 24/7 overclock? 2) So will the system run at 1.4V all the time even at idle? Is that still stable?
  20. Kind of a noob question but does a 24/7 overclock mean simply turning on your overclock settings 24/7 (even at idle etc..) or does it mean you are under load 24/7 while overclocking. Because I've seen many saying certain voltage is dangerous for a 24/7 overclock but not quite sure what it means exactly. I'm aiming for a 1.4V for my Ryzen 2700x. Is it safe?
  21. Hey there, So do you suggest I turn off both PBO and XFR2 or just PBO? I dont really know much about overclocking actually... maybe I should learn.
  22. Thanks, you've explained it well for me I dont really go to BIOS anyway, but I'm just gonna assume the XFR2 and PBO2 are automatically switched on, on every new CPU unless meddled with correct? Is there a way to check if they are switched on (I'm not going to disable them), just curious.
