  1. While it is true that it's a different kind of ads, I don't think that it is relevant because there still is one person (or rather "entity") who loses somethink with you skipping the ad, which is the creator of the ad that paid for people to look at it and thus loses a potential "viewer" of it. In general I think that ad blocking isn't really "wrong", especially with how awful the "ad experience" generally is. Speaking of youtube, they really could have a "youtube red lite" to combat this, at a lower cost to only remove pre-roll and mid-roll ads, and the banners in front of videos... they could keep the other ads on the site if they wanted. It's just the fact that people don't want to spend $10 just for that, and many don't need all the other crap that they added to red.
  2. I really don't think he's furious, he's voicing his opinion on the topic and people misinterpreted it as him not liking who uses adblock. The reason I think that's what's happening is the fact that I act like that in conversations too, and people often misinterpret me as me endorsing/hating something I actually don't have those feelings for. I think he's just "fighting" for his definition of piracy and not saying if it's right or wrong to do it. For him adblocking is the same thing as piracy and that's it. Then maybe tomorrow he'll publicly state that he hates adblock plus and all of this will be disproven, but for now I think that this is the situation.
  3. Budget isn't really an issue, I prefer to wait longer to save up some money and have good components rather than rushing and being unsatisfied with it.
  4. You should replace it everytime you take the cooler off (you don't need to, but thermal paste is cheap and doing so you can prevent air bubbles from being trapped inside). It's better to put a bit too much thermal paste than too little (see gamer nexus' video about that), and personally a pea size grain looks a bit too little (I've only used pretty thick thermal paste so if it's easily spreadable by the cooler it could be ok).
  5. Hi, I started buying the components for my first PC build. My case choice was the carbide 275r mainly for the clean design, but when it arrived I noted that it has a pretty restricted airflow. 1- To counteract that, do I need to buy some static pressure fans or I'm good with airflow fans? 2- since I'm keeping the computer in my bedroom, which fans do you suggest me that can keep a good airflow while not being too loud? Thanks in advance
  6. Hi, I tried subscribing to floatplane trough the forum but I got an email from PayPal "you automatic payment didn't work". What do I do now? I'm afraid that if I subscribe another time next month there will be a double payment.
  7. i'd come from a 2013 asus f550c laptop with a rather shitty 720p panel so everything is an upgrade for me, i'm not really looking for the best color accuracy. I don't really care if it is TN or not, certainly the 144hz refresh rate is appealing for me as i can't seem to find other high resolution/high refresh rate monitors at that price honestly.
  8. I was asking if it was ok at around 250€ not 500€
  9. Thanks a lot for the advice! I was wondering, what about a 1440p 144hz or 75hz? Sometimes the price of the Dell S2417DG randomly drops from ~500€ to around 250/300€. I've heard it's good, do you think it's worth it?
  10. Italy, 250€ / 350€ (usually with tech things the rate between usd and eur is about 1:1, so it's like 250$ /350$). I don't know if there actually is something like what I asked for this price, I'm hoping so.
  11. Hi, I finally started to buy all the components of my new PC, and now I need to choose what monitor to get. I never really bothered to look at prices/specs of the monitors, so now I'm pretty overwhelmed with the huge choice. I'm looking for a good (maybe 1440p?) monitor to use with a gtx 1070 / 1070ti / RTX 2070, with a good enough refresh rate (75+ hz) and a reasonable price. Summary: -cpu: R7 2700 -gpu: waiting RTX 2070 to decide -RAM: 16gb 3200mhz -monitor: need to decide Thank you in advance!

Edit: the specs: - Mobo crosshair VI Hero (found on sale for ~140$) -cpu R7 2700 -gpu GTX 1070/1070ti or RTX 2070 if it's better -RAM 16gb 3200mhz (hopefully) -case and psu still need to decide. Maybe h440 / 650/700w
