  1. Surface mount devices. They are the smaller packaged leds that don't have long leads, that are soldered to the surface of the pcb instead of pushed through holes. The left one with the long leads is actually called tht/through hole technology. They are both LEDs so I have no idea why they labled them like that Oh dear how do I resize the image
  2. Depends on what type of led they are, but it should be easy no matter their type as long as you have the right tools. It's most likely just some basic soldering required. Could be slightly harder if they are smd.
  3. Hey guys, haven't posted here in a while because I realised I've been posting a lot of cringe. But I ran into a real issue today so here I am. I had my pc since 2018 and overall, it's been working fine, with a few bumps along the way. Specs: Windows 10 Pro i5 8400 32gb ddr4 2666 (corsair vengeance pro) GTX 1060 3GB (Gigabyte) Aorus ultra gaming 2.0 mobo, z370 1TB 2700 Seagate Barracuda HDD with 16GB of optane for acceleration. But lately, it has been bluescreening a lot upon waking from hibernation mode, I didn't think much of it and instead put it into sleep mode when I'm not using it, thinking I would be getting an ssd soon but I never did. This lasted a few months until today, when it crashed upon waking. After 10 minutes, optane synced with my hdd and my PC booted, only to freeze and crash again on the lock screen. Windows tried to restart again but It's been stuck on the spinning circle for hours. No splash logo, just a spinning circle. Is there a way to fix this? Is it safe to hard-shut down my pc and reboot at this stage? And assuming the data is intact on both the optane and HDD, is there a way to get them back? Would data recovery services be able to do so?
  4. Really why tf are miners still buying GPUs? There are much more powerful and cheaper ASIC miners but they gotta buy out graphics cards. IQ 5000

Well, they pay for themselves so I'm not too worried about it

Few of the 30 series I bought already earned back their costs, namely 3 of the 3060ti that I bought back in December

I'm guessing with mining you can attack each of them separately vs trying to combine cards like you would for gaming?

  5. Found iphone 6 lying in wet grass at the side of the road, luckily it has a simcard that contains the number the owner decided to keep and use on another phone. Returned to owner. Prowd

  6. Hey guys, can anyone help me decide which drive to choose? I'm planning on buying a 1tb ssd to replace my optane accelerated hdd, but idk which one to buy. The 860 QVO is slightly cheaper then the EVO, but the EVO is more popular for its great durability. The 970 EVO is supposed to be much faster than the 860 EVO, has the same TBW and isn't much more expensive on ebay. But someone told me there really isn't much performance difference between the 970 EVO and 860 EVO. So can anyone help me decide? I'll use the ssd as a boot drive. I'm just an average gamer programmer and renderer. Sorry for the bad English
  7. Hey, thanks for the reply. The scan appears to be complete but I'm confused after the first scan, it just got stuck at 100%, and I still can't type anything else in cmd. I opened another instance of cmd and did the "sfc /scannow" command and it appears to have frozen too.
  8. Hi guys, So one day it worked fine, and the next (after a windows 10 update), it didn't. My pc does not seem to be detecting our home wifi, plus a few more. I tried restarting the pc and the router, reinstalling the adaptor driver, and using an external usb wifi dongle. Non of which worked. All other devices work fine. Does anyone know what is happening? Thanks
  9. It's fixed. There was a lot of water between the diffusion layers and the acrylic Thanks
  10. nah. Its almost 10 years old. and it only has vga input "voiding the wwarranty was my way of saying "taking it apart"
  11. its under the lcd. Im half way through voiding its warranty. I don't really trust myself on not ripping the ribbon of the lcd. Im just gonna use a hairdryer and silicon desiccant.
  12. i get it but it looks like water, right?
  13. So er guys... I got an AOC e2070swn from the dump for a budget render server. It appeared fine at first, but it had those weird dark and bright patches over it. What can this be caused by? is it water between the lcd panel and the backlight? The spots don't move when I press on them.
  14. Hi, guys. Just so you know, this question is kind of specific. So I have this multi-purpose server I built out of scrap parts, with CPU: i3 4160 Ram: 6GB ddr3 (2 mixed sticks of various unknown frequency and brands) Random Gigabyte mini itx mobo (I think its a GA-H81M-DS2) Ancient seagate 160GB HDD. The specs does sound completely rubbish, but it worked well for me as a Sheepit render client (Blender community render farm service, basicly the machine runs 24/7, rendering projects for other people) However, this morning, something peculiar happened. I checked the web control panel of the render farm, and it shows that my machine is connected, and the CPU is running at near 100% like it supposed to be. But when I went to physically check the machine, I discovered that It's not giving an VGA output. The keyboard did not seem to be able to interact with it either, as pressing caps lock does not light up the caps led. The ethernet activity led is blinking as normal. The funniest thing is that when I eject the dvd drive, the tray rolls back in immediately, then the HDD activity led starts blinking 3 times per second and would never stop. I eventually had to reboot the device. How is this happening? In short: Can anyone explain to me how the client running on my machine was connected to the internet while the pc is irresponsive?
  15. psu brand? might be because of sketchy psu.
  16. I used the power supply calculator, and my build should consume less than 550w. But I’m not sure if my “550w” power supply can handle it.
  17. I recently purchased 2x16gb of the 3200mhz corsair vengeance RGB PRO, but I want to ask something before replacing my 2x4gb 3000mhz ripjawsV. I have a 1tb 7200 seagate barracuda hdd with a 16gb optane to accelerate it, and I also have a very crappy 550w “Cooler power” psu (I forgot the model number). If I change my ram, will it mess up the HDD+Optane system and cause me to loose my data? Do I have to disable optane first? does 32gb 3200mhz consume a lot more power than 8gb 3000mhz? I don’t know if my power supply’s really 550w and if it will blow up.
  18. How come I didn’t see this video...
  19. So I saw this advertisement on YouTube about a small USB device called “Xtra-PC” https://thiswentviral.net/aus/make-your-computer-new/?ad=385127598642&sites=www.youtube.com&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIi7Th0e6J5QIVGoeWCh1TcA7QEAEYASAAEgKNSPD_BwE So my question is: Does it actually work as advertised? I’m somewhat doubtful about that. and it it actually works, HOW DOES IT WORK? After reading the article, I discovered that this “device” is actually a USB flash drive with a special OS on it, and I was right because when i searched it up on eBay, i saw one that looked just like the Sandisk Cruzer Blade. What the ad said didn’t really make sense. If you are booting from the USB, you are using it’s os. But then why does it work with existing os of your HDD? I don’t understand why a cheap software on a regular cheap flash drive can speed up your pc’s performance.
  20. I’d recommend at least a gtx 1050 no matter what you do, as long as it’s 3D
  21. Please be more specific. Does it get stuck on that screen?
  22. Thermaltake is weird

  23. I already have the build, just wanna get a new case. cpu: i5 8400 (stock cooler) gpu: gtx 1060 3GB Ram: corsair vengeance RGB Pro 3000mhz 16gb cheap crappy psu (will be replaced)
  24. I hope that you haven’t fried the motherboard or cpu. Although z270 boards are backwards compatible, I would not use it with a 6th gen cpu.
