  1. i have a compaq presario 5600f that is only good for media collection. (basically when a drive on my daily driver laptop is full, i empty it on a 500gb hdd that is inside the presario). As well as a dell inspiron 560 that has truly seen better days and needs a new power supply,( the power supply has been accounted for, but hasn't been bought yet. so if anyone has recommendations on that, im all ears.) the presario came with a power supply from bestec, there's seems to be some vitriol towards the brand and i'm starting to see why. i have a 250gb hdd full of anime that i want to dump and i have nowhere to put it. please help.
  2. So, a couple days ago, my grandmother gave me a Compaq Presario CQ5600F that she was given from job. The desktop uses a really bad "AMD Athlon 170u processing chip", and a terrible " nVidia GeForce 6150SE" integrated graphics chip with 2gb of ddr2 ram. The paltry strength of the cpu and gpu is palpable since ive used 90's celeron and early 2000's pentium cpus both having awful integrated gpus. The real issue, is that the desktop only comes with ethernet and and not wifi. i cant use ethernet mainly because i dont like ethernet and the router is in my parents room and i dont have the money to invest "insert length of ethernet cable long enough to reach my desktop. It might also end being a fire hazard, the last on might be a bit hyperbolic. I was hoping to find anything that would tell me if there's any place i can go to to buy a wifi chip or if its even possible to install a wifi chip on a motherboard this old. Here's a link to the speclist for those that are interested: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02481299
  3. its a bit pricey, but its got good reviews, i see no reason not to invest in some money into this. thx
  4. Hey, i need suggestions for a good duster for my three consoles. I have a Wii u, Wii, and a Ps2 Slim that are riddled various issues that make them unusable or annoying to use, let alone leave them plugged up on standby mode. The Wii u has ventilation build-up, the wii has a bad disc drive that needs to be replaced and some ventilation issues as well, and the ps2 slim has ventilation build-up as well. Besides, the disc drive that needs to be replaced, the gas duster or air sprayer is the only things i am missing. Any suggestions or recommendations for either are greatly appreciated.
  5. Next month, Ill be getting a Sega Dreamcast and a Nintendo Switch as a Graduation present. But thats not the important part, in time the dreamcast will be in a state where it can not be repaired, obviously. I was thinking that if and when it stopped working, i could use a mini pc motherboard that supports a 7th gen core i5, a zotac gtx 1080 ti that will be stripped down to its bare minimum, an m.2 ssd that has support for ahci, nand, or sata that has at least 500gbs of space for and speedy booting, 8gbs of ddr3 or ddr4 ram, bluetooth 4.0 or 5.0, wlan 2.4ghz, and many other things that aren't coming to mind. Does this possible build seem plausible? I got this idea from Xbox Sleeper Pc video "Linus Tech Tips" made by the way.
  6. well they do sell them, its just that its hard to find an adapter that supports ahci with b and m key sata m.2 ssd's
  7. ok so the os has been installed on my hdd, but i dont want to put the m.2 ssd directly back into my laptop without checking for discrepancies. I have a usb to sata cable used for fixing my seven year old hdd, i was just wondering if there was a such thing as a usb to m.2 cable to ever exist?
  8. in an attempt to better understand what brand of m.2 ssd i have, i unknowingly corrupted the windows 10 os i had. if i was to format the ssd, would that give me drive options to install the os to? or do i need to get a whole new ssd?
  9. uhh ya you beat me to the punch of realizing that, didnt know they were called rivets. thx anyways.
  10. might have gone off-topic there, but if anyone has any knowlegde on this let me know.
  11. So i was able to uncover my dads old desktop that he used to use as a media device. i want to remove the hdd that is in there. But the problem is that there along with the philips head screws, these circular, non allen screw looking heads that i dont know how to remove. i wanted to give the specifics of this computer, but my dad lost the password years ago, and none of the existing numbers are on the back or bottom lead to anything. the tag that says the serial code, mfg date, mfg code, name of the tower are shoddily ripped off All i can say is that this computer is a dell desktop with an intel celeron processing unit running windows 7.
  12. So i'm kind of in a bind, i don't have much money at the beginning of the month after monetary obligations which leaves me at $200. My computer's motherboard, but everything around it is fine, but i digress. I'm currently using my dads laptop which no longer takes a charge which is immediately worse than my late laptop. Does anyone know any good Budget Gaming mini-pc's thats under $200? I'm fine with 4gb of ram even if its abysmal nowadays, as long as i can upgrade the ram 8gb's or higher. Same thing, can be said about the storage, as long as i have the option to upgrade the storage, im fine. I think at this point, i'm coming off as a choosy beggar, which isnt my intention but i digress once more. In terms of what condition they can be, new or used.
  13. I also have to work under a stiff $200 budget tax included.
  14. I'm planning on getting a barebones mini-pc by Asus called the Asus PN40 Desktop Computer - Intel Celeron N4000 1.1GHz DDR4 SDRAM - Windows 10 Pro - Mini PC - Black. On the actual Asus site, it say that this can be bumped up from its normal, but awful 2gbs of ram to 8gbs of ram. The mini-pc can take a 2.5in ssd up to 500gb and and m.2 ssd up to 256gb. The size of the pc is 115 x 115 x 49 cm (WxDxH). The ssd I want to use is a 250gb samsung evo ssd and the memory is a 8gb ram stick by Veteke. If anyone has recommendations for a possible better ssd, m.2 ssd and memory stick let me know. It contains DDR4 at 2400MHZ and has 2x SO-Dimm for memory. If anyone has recommendations for a possible better rig overall, please let me know.
