7mtyler reacted to GhostRoadieBL in Need help with a one plug usb c hub solution
-power delivery is iffy - totally normal for many USB hubs, this seems to be linked to windows recognizing USB-C with and without power and indicate charging or not. There are some that even had separate power and data USB-Cs to get around this because it's always been janky.

-the headphone jack on the USB hub was noisy with interference - again, sadly normal for 90% of the hubs, you can set the USB headphone connection to be "default device" which should solve the need to switch each time it's connected. This can be done in the Sound Control Panel (from sound settings -> sound control panel -> 'highlight the device' -> "set as default")

-sometimes it just doesn't want to connect to the monitor + a USB wireless mouse/keyboard - keeping your monitor and mouse/keyboard off as you plug in the hub, then turning them on should cause this to be less common. This is also windows being weird about attaching many devices through a single interface, too many signals telling the OS a new device is connected on the interface which the OS then ignores but doesn't clear so trying again doesn't do anything.

    - taking forever to wake up - that's the worst one for sure, I usually unplug my hub before waking the computer just so it's not bogged down by windows being confused by all the devices being woken up and needing attention all at once.

this doesn't seem to be a brand or price thing, I've tried almost a dozen hubs from the included one to $300 lightning ones and they all seem to have their own quirks, it's only common factor is windows being weird with devices. Even as bad as corrupting USB drives when more than one is in the hub and waking up the laptop connected to them with folders open.

I finally completed transplanting all my components from my dual rad NCase M1 build to a custom loop in the Inwin A1 plus (My first loop)
    Album Link - https://imgur.com/a/sVOBR4N
    Specs:
    CPU - i9-9900K (5Ghz all cores at 1.31v)
GPU - EVGA 2080Ti Hybrid (2100 Mhz OC)
Mobo - Asrock Z390 mini ITX Phantom Gaming
Ram - 32 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX
Storage - Adata SX8200 512GB (main), Intel 660p 2TB (Games), Samsung QVO 4 TB (Storage)
    PSU - Corsair SF-750 Platinum
Cooling Hardware - EK Velocity CPU Block, Phanteks Glacier GPU Block, 2x XSPC TX120 Slim Rad, 1x XSPC TX 240 slim rad, Bykski mini DDC reservoir, EK DDC PWM pump, Primochill fittings and PETG Tubing (with inserts to prevent collapse), 2x Noctua NF-A12, 1x Noiseblocker E-Loop, 1x Slim 15mm Noctua
Fan Control/RGB - Aquacomputer Quadro, 2x Aquacomputer farbwerk nano (1 for AmbientPx behind Monitor), phanteks digital rgb strips, halos fan frame
    Loop Order:
    Res->Pump->CPU->120mm rad->gpu->240mm rad->120mm rad->Res
    Custom Modifications to case:
    - Made custom mounts for radiator and slim fan instead of the side fan (used aluminum L-angles and cut and drilled holes for mounting) - was a total pain, would 3d print if I had the option
    - Drilled holes for 240mm radiator mount in bottom. The bottom radiator ended up being offset from the usual fan mounting spot due to the side radiator so couldn't fit the stock RGB light strip and plastic channel thing - ended up gluing a Phanteks neon strip to the inside of the bottom foot
    - Frosted the tubes and the base with soft sanding discs meant for bowling balls (initially messed up the base by trying to use a dremel - you can see blemishes in right front corner but buffed most of it out)
    - Drilled holes in the psu holding frame to mount pump to chassis using an aluminum L-angle and EK universal pump holder)
    Cooling Performance:
Note all at max fan RPMs set at 1500 and pump set to 40%, temps measured after 1 hour run to saturate water). Water temp measured at pump outlet. Overclocks and voltages mentioned above in Specs
CPU Load (AIDA 64 CPU stress test - package power of approx 170w) - Avg Core temp 72-75c and water temp of 42c
GPU Load (Heaven - GPU package power of approx 330w) - 59-60c and water temp of 47c
    Mixed (AIDA 64 CPU+GPU - 170w CPU package load, 300w GPU package load) - CPU 80-85c, GPU 61-62c, Water 49c
Overall I'm very happy with the end product, but it was a real pain to fit all of this in here!. I'm a bit disappointed at the somewhat higher liquid temps but I think it's still in the safe range and I don't want to rub my fans any higher than 1500-1600rpm for noise reasons.
I would love any feedback and what you guys think of the temps I'm getting... Thanks for reading.

I'm sorry but RTX2080Ti is a bit weak to run Minecraft at high settings. You have to run it at medium settings to do ray tracing on 144p30.
And as for CPU, well, bad luck, you need spend more for Intel 28core CPU because Minecraft is a heavy CPU game.

I totally get having a low budget, but at this price point, new parts aren't gonna perform too much better than a current gen console. and it'd cost twice as much....

If you want to make it worth it, go for used parts. that's my philosophy at least

7mtyler got a reaction from XR6 in $600 dollar build plans!
the best you could do with this budget is take your time and find good deals on used parts. Check facebook marketplace, craigslist, and eBay.
-You could find a z170 board on eBay for around $40.
-Look for a used i5 (6th or 7th gen) for less than $125
-Maybe a 1060 3gb for also for less than $150
-You could find 8gb DDR4 for like $50 if you really look around.

That'd leave you with almost $200 for a cheap case, power supply, and storage. You might want to buy a cpu cooler too if you end up with a k series chip..

Basically I'm just saying you could get a much better system if go the scrapyard wars route lol....   a $600 new parts build would be pretty slow and not handle modern games too well.. ESPECIALLY if you are including a monitor in that $600

I just finished my first build and I'm really proud of it.

Near the end of the summer, I bought a pc someone else had built for $550. It was a pentium g4600 + 1060 3gb build. It gamed pretty nice at 1080p, but I wanted something that could really handle AAA games and a future monitor upgrade to 1440 or maybe even 4k someday. With that $550 buy, I got that PC, some decent razer peripherals and an Acer 1080p IPS panel.

Here's my final specs for now.

-Gigabyte z170x-ud3 motherboard ($40 refurbished on ebay. risky buy but it works great)
-Intel i5-6600k OC'd to 4.4Ghz with a Cryorig H7  (I paid $150 for the cpu used +$35 for the cooler)
-Gigabyte GTX 1080 Windforce OC  (I only payed $320 for this thing, used less than 6 months old)
-Corsair Vengeance RGB 16gb at 3000mhz (paid around $150 on amazon for these)
-Crucial 275gb SSD (came with the original pc i bought)
-WD Blue 1tb HDD  (came with the original pc i bought)
-Corsair cx650m PSU ($60 at bestbuy. it was on sale!)
-some crappy case fans (my temps are great even when stress testing so i see no need to upgrade)
-all in a Phanteks p300 case with a couple rgb strips (total of $65 on amazon)
-uphere white cable extension kit (only $30. looks great)

I love how it looks, since I was able to go with this black and white theme for it all. I found that random little llama statue and put him inside for fun lol.
I'm also super proud of how much I paid for it. I sold the pentium, mobo, 1060, and case for $300. That means I got all those peripherals, and the storage for $250. PCPartPicker says my build would cost over $1700 new, and I got it all for $1100 once I sold that old stuff. I think I did pretty well.

Just thought I'd try to show it off! I think I did a pretty good job for it being my first build.
    Hope you all enjoyed.
