  1. Just updating anyone who was interested in this thread.. Parts came in, flashed bios with a random A6 chip, and the PC is running great!
  2. I’m lurking this thread. Can you explain your case for 3000-3200 MHz for Ryzen? Or direct me to a page that does? ?
  3. To anyone who is still interested, I put together this list of parts that I think I would like to use to upgrade my rig, and reach my initial goals, listed in original post. CPU - AMD RYZEN 3 2200G Quad-Core 3.5 GHz (3.7 GHz Turbo) Socket AM4 65W YD2200C5FBBOX RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Intel Z170 - Model F4-3200C16D-8GVK MOBO - GIGABYTE GA-AX370-Gaming (rev. 1.0) AM4 AMD X370 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard GFX - Stay with MSI Radeon R7 260X DirectX 11.2 R7 260X 2GD5 OC 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 Upgrade path for GFX - ____(definitely open to suggestions, perhaps GTX 1060 3GB?)____ I am certainly open to any comments and or remarks from the wise minds here on LTT forums.
  4. Thank you for the considerate response. I think I will go in the Ryzen 3 direction, as much as I would like to switch to Team Blue.
  5. Thanks! Thank you for the evaluation of the FX single core speeds. Do you think Ryzen 3 would offer enough performance increase? Because a Ryzen 3 CPU and Board definitely fit into my budget..
  6. Sakkura & Rainbow Dash, I agree with both of you. I am happy to hear that I am not crazy for thinking that just upgrading one will solve my problem. I wish It were that simple. Do you think there is there anything on the AM3+ socket that can support better CPU performance, and justify a better GPU down the road? Would that be the FX 8300 that Rainbow Dash is recommending? Thank you both of you!
  7. 1. Budget & Location $200-$350 USD/USA 2. Aim I would like to identify what the most cost effective upgrade path would be to enjoy current gen titles. I mostly play classic titles on my PC. I love to tickle my nostalgia bone with CS: Source, Star Craft 2 & Battlefield 3. But I would love to play newer titles such as Fortnite and Pub G etc. I also work from home, and do some light media editing on my home rig, as well as audio recording via Pro Tools (I have external DSP hardware). 3. Monitors My current setup is two monitors, one throw away dell, and a new(er) 32" LG, 5ms gtg, 1080 60hz hdmi. 4. Peripherals I think I am all set on peripherals. My mouse is okay, and my keyboard could use replacing. 5. Why are you upgrading? I'm upgrading because, I would like to run my old games on ultra, most of these were release over 8 years ago.. and I would like to enter into the modern era of PC gaming (even if it's medium settings at high FPS).
